Yes, I've been thinking about Vendetta...but Vendetta always costs you life and cant hit black creatures Plus Dismember kills regenerating and indestructible creatures Tasigur and Angler are quite popular right now in r my meta, and Dismember gets them both. I also played around with Tragic Slip for awhile, but Dismember is the same or better about 2/3 of the time (except when someone Quicksilver's in an Avacyn, lol)
*edit* I moved 4 Duress to the maindeck from the sideboard, as I was getting sick of losing to combo decks in game 1. I also added 1 Darkblast to the sideboard, although Vendetta is possibly better. Need more playtesting...
Hey guys and gals. a bit late to the discussion but i played a r/b version of stockpile in standard before it rotated. i went with red because it had efficient removal in lightning strike and magma jet and it had tymaret, the murder king. those cards gave the deck both removal and reach when decks eventually went bigger. plus they made blocking a pain because they had to assume that i had burn in my hand so they couldn't always just block a zombie token with a 5/5 for example. I really like burn with this deck.
what i wonder is how well would this concept translate to modern. getting bolt is huge because it allows a stockpile activation with removal up on turn 3. The same is true if we explore a white splash version for path.
red also allows for blood moon against the tron matchup.
Just tossing some ideas out. welcome to all criticism and feedback.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it put an evasive creature in its deck over a narrow hate card.

If a card isn't worth your opponent removing, it's not worth putting in your deck.
Hey Guys,
I've been interested in this deck concept for a while, and have been brewing and goldfishing with it. I tried the stock (op) list, stock list + more zombies, Abzan version with Lingering Souls, etc. to try to build more on the archetype.
Adding white has a lot of synergies. Lingering Souls is almost always a good play in modern, and if you dredge or discard it, it can still be played. Also works well with any anthems or pumps you may have with the tokens. Although, I think it just competes way too much with necromancer's stockpile, and you'd be better off just playing Souls, instead of having the Stockpile engine. White also opens up tidehollow sculler. I really like the idea of adding a zombie that can provide tempo and beat down, while being able to work with necromancer's stockpile and gravecrawler, but it just seemed too clunky. Its tough deciding between or obtaining BW or BG needed on turn two. The deck only played-tested well with birds of paradise since it was so mana greedy with three colors, especially annoying with Mutavaults.
One card I did brew with that I think adds to the BG archetype is eternal witness. Its great after castinggrisly salvage. Grab EWitness, bin stockpile, play EWitness and get Stockpile back to your hand. Sounds good. Can also bring back any removal if needed.
After brewing and taking inspiration from the R/B Blitzkrieg primer I've come up with this list:
Along with the OP's list, it is relatively light on creatures and heavier on spells. Red opens up lightning bolt, blightning, and faithless looting. It also allows a nice sideboard with blood moon and pyroclasm. These cards are all high-value, and push the game into the mid-range where necromancer's stockpile can really shine. Most B/R decks can lose a lot of gas after the first couple of turns, but I think Stockpile is perfect for when you run out of cards and need to grind out decks or go wide.
- Faithless looting allows you to get some better card quality if you need to dig for that perfect card for the match. Pitch unneeded lands, gravecrawlers, and shambling shells. Bins three cards to delve away to gurmag angler. It doesn't fuel delve quite as well as grisly salvage, but can be more flexible in your card selection.
- wrench mind, great follow up to a turn 1 Gravecrawler or Duress.
- blightning, disrupts hands and direct damage. Very annoying.
- gurmag angler, big dumb dude, blocks aggro creatures, can be casted on the cheap, good clock against most decks, and allows you to recast gravecrawler from the GY. Solid.
- It is more difficult to play shambling shell onto the battlefield, but I think you'd rather play any other card in the deck most of the time. Shambling shell is great to pitch with Faithless Looting's. If you can't play it, just pitch it, and dredge when needed.
- Blood scrivener in my testing, has been working really well. If you have Scrivener on the field, and one card in hand that's a zombie, pitch it to Stockpile, and draw two cards, get a Zombie. If you only have a faithless looting in your hand, it becomes a cantrip. Also nice if you have no cards in hand, and a 'lootings' in the graveyard. Oozes synergy with this list, since often, you don't have a lot of cards in hand.
- The minor green splash for shambling shell also synergizes well with ancient grudge in the sideboard. Tear down those flying artifacts, so you can grind out with Zombies.
While the list above has some issues (Gempalm, Scourge and Unholy Grotto aren't modern legal), I think Relentless Dead is worth looking at as a recurring zombie to help fuel the Stockpile.
This forum is specifically designated to discuss modern decks. Since you didn't preface your poorly formatted deck list in any way, I had no idea if you were looking for some kind of feedback or if you understood the distinction between modern legal cards and cards that are not, in fact, modern legal. Good luck with your list!
