I do not have enough money to play the top tier modern decks. I am planning to use this in modern tournaments weekly at my local store. I request legit feedback. I have not bought this deck yet.
Simple combo deck. Polymorph/Proteus Staff target token reveal top cards of your deck until you hit Emrakul put it into play and gg.
Hi, a friend of mine piloted a similar concept to yours at an FNM around the end of 2014/early 2015. We/he tried a different route though. He had a much more control oriented deck and stacked up on manlands (Faerie Conclave, Mutavault etc) and went 0-5 or 1-4 for the evening (Can't remember what he played against and he had no practice/prep before the FNM too). I think your idea of more token creators is a lot better though. From what I recall he said he kept losing because whenever he would animate a manland it would get bolted/pathed etc. From the wording of Polymorph it seems like you may be at risk of that anyway as they will just kill whatever token you target when going off. You could try maybe adding some Ephemeral Shields, Ajani's Presence or Valorous Stance to mitigate this. You will however still be susceptible to being pathed and having your Polymorph countered. Best solution I would say would be to add some hexproof dudes (Invisible Stalker/Slippery Bogle) instead of/in conjunction with the cards that grant indestructible to prevent this. Maybe some number of Boseiju, Who Shelters All to make sure your Polymorph sticks. Here is a list of decks made by a guy who tried what you're doing (although in a much more expensive way) http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck_search_result.asp?Creator=innocentsky . I'd recommend you do some testing by either proxying it up or testing in some sort of MTG client before going out and buying all the cards. If you want more details on his list/experiences let me know and I'll try get back to you.
If you're just looking for a budget modern deck that can pull it's own weight why not try mono green "Stompy"? Here is a link to the Modern State Champs top 8 ( http://magic.tcgplayer.com/db/deck_search_result.asp?Location=2015 Modern State Championships - South Carolina ) where the deck came in 1st and 2nd. It has game against most top tier modern decks and will only set you back around 100$. That is basically the price of 2 Emrakul, The Aeons Torn anyway. If you're keen on the deck the guy(s) at Modern Nexus seem to talk about it a fair amount, here are some links to their Stompy related stuff:
I'll agree. I wouldn't spend money to try this combo. It's very fragile and people will save removal to use as counterspells. You can't protect the combo without significantly weakening your deck.
It can go in either a control she'll or an aggro shell. You appear to be using a mix of both which is the worst possible route. Either you play an aggressive BW tokens like list or you play a UW control list with cards like Timely Reenforcements, mutavault, faerie conclave as your polymorph targets.
Maybe polymorph s best use would be as a convertible sideboard for an aggressive tokens list, since often targeted removal will come out of your opponents deck after the sideboard.
Sorry, because I like polymorph too, but it's very situational and a lot of just good cards basically stop it.
I've tried a lot of budget modern decks. I dont find playing aggro alot fun so i wanted to make something different. The reason why i dont add hexproof creatures is what if i polymorph into them? I might consider playing more control and adding like swan song or something. I have silence sideboard. Thank you for the help...my friend helped me make this....I hope I can at least place with it.
I realize this deck is susceptible to 2 main things, the token getting destroyed or the polymorph or proteus staff getting countered. I've never played in a tournament before tbh. I thought of adding 4-6 counter cards and only playing 8-10 token cards. Also thought about playing silence mainboard.
If they have spotted removal sideboard maybe i could play counters sideboard?
i built a similar deck last year to play on magic online. i played a couple of dailys. there's the daily i won: http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/mtgo-standings/modern-daily-2014-09-21
as you can see, i built it to kill with tokens as the main win condition, and if i draw a polymorph, its the plan B. i did that because when i put pressure on the table, with the enchants, my opponent is forced to use his removals to survive, making the polymorph more safe. I used springleaf drums to accelerate the game also making a turn 3 emrakul possible.
i also like the 4x windbrisk heights, because its a free win when you get emrakul out of it, because you get the extra turn.
at some point i also tested progenitus instead of emrakul, because i lost so many games because of my opponent stopping the emrakul with cards like: fiend hunt(POD), shriekmaw(POD), karn(TRON), oblivion stone(TRON), pestermite/deceiver exarch tapping him(TWIN), cryptic command tapping him(TWIN), supreme verdict(U/W Control), liliana of the veil(jund) and some others.
making the deck more control oriented is not worth when playing on a field full of abzans because each one runs 4 abrupt decays to stop you.
you could also try a new card, that i could not test because there was not fate reforged at this time. Cloudform

I think this is viable because it is focused on being a tokens deck. Its an aggressive token strategy that has polymorph or Windbrisk Heights as an alternative strategy, that doesn't take much room in the main deck. Kudos on the win Shiin. Windbrisk Heights does make that a lot better and White has so many good sideboard cards.
I might just try to go for broke and test counters out mainboard since the only thing that kills the combo is spot removal or counter spells. Honestly ive been looking at decks everyday. Theres no deck i like that i can build for my budget. Heres the ones i remember from the top of my head. Mono u tron, burn, bogles, tokens, storm, infect, mono green
Shin1601 ive seen your deck while looking for different versions and tbh i thought if youre playing honor of the pure and intangible virtue why not just build full token for more consistency
Tokens is actually a viable strategy in modern, but some decks will actually win quicker than you and cards like Ghost Prison can grind you to a halt. Polymorph is six cards out of sixty and you could probably really play one less Emrakul to taste. The polymorph attacks from a slightly different angle and it's hard for opponents to find cards that disrupt both strategies.
Counter spells aren't really the best option. Polymorph costs four to cast ( in controlling versions you might alspaying mana to activate a mainland or make a token) so you are even further slowing yourself down to play two spells in one turn and there is no promise that your opponent won't also be planning on casting two spells on your turn when you are trying to go off. In the more controlling she'll, that's exactly what you would do, play some counter spells, possibly cards like Gitaxian Probe or Duress so you know how to play around your opponents hand. The control version is doable, but not tier one or tier two.
Honestly I'm not sure which version of the deck is better... My advice for the controlling version is to think about going Esper for black discard and also think about having a backup kill condition in case you can slow down your opponent, but they disrupt your polymorph attempt.
I play 2 emrakul in case i draw one and dont have see beyond. I made a full deck based on polymorph proteus staff. Ill test out the discard and control but i think it would spread the deck way too thin as im not playing tokens. I dont like playing aggro. Did not have fun with the other decks i found. X-X.
