I'm glad your doing well with your Soulflayer deck! I really hate Liliana of the Veil too. If you're still looking for answer, lately someone else 5-0'd with Soulflayer deck in competitive modern league with 2 Lingering Souls in their sideboard. I am guessing it against fair deck that uses Liliana.
Jund Shadow 2-1
5c Human 2-1
Blue Moon 2-1
Mardu Pyromancer 2-1
Dredge 2-1
I still think it worth running a few board wipes in the sideboard like Kozilek's Return or Pyroclasm against infect, boggles, elf, merfolk and mardu pyromancer. I like my current deck though!

As far as I know Damping Sphere is the only card I like from Dominaria. I always have 2~3 of them in my sideboard against Tron and Storm which are the worst match up for Soulflayer.
General sb guide
5c Human: Always side in all the removal spells for Meddling Mage. Side out keyword creature without flying (such as Bomat Courier and Samut, Voice of Dissent) and any non-creature spell that cost 3 or more.
UR Storm: Side in all the hand disruption spells, GY hate, Abrupt Decays and Damping Spheres. Side out Chromanticore and Drogskol Reaver. If necessary Zetalpa, Primal Dawn and Bomat Courier can be sided out too but always keep 4 Samut in the deck.
Mardu Pyromancer: Side in any board wipes, Thrun, the Last Troll and Collective Brutality. This is a favorable match up so I would only side out Bomat Courier and removal spells that can only target single creature. Watch out for mainboard Blood Moon.
UW Control: Side in Thrun, the Last Troll, Abrupt Decays, Maelstrom Pulse and Thoughtseizes. Always get rid of Search for Azcanta unless you are certain you can win before it flips. Same goes for Jace, the Mind Sculptor. Side out Drogskol Reaver, Chromanticore, a few Bomat Courier, and creature removal spells.
I'll update the first page of the thread so I can include these sb guide in them.
I've been using this list in testing,
I like using Oketra the True and Rhonas the Indomitable because they are cheap enough to cast from the hand, while also providing two corner stone abilities for soulflayer.
I was attracted to the JUNK builds running lingering souls so you could dodge losing soulflayer or your gods to liliana of the veil. plus turns on Oketra.
I feel like the deck is light on hex proof with the current build, so I'm packing 2/3 knight of malice in the sideboard for blue/white match ups, where path to exile or bounce is more prevelant, i feel like indestructable is the more important ability.
how do you feel about grim flayer?
this deck is hitting delirium pretty quickly, so i'm running only 2 at the moment. maybe i should run full set?
@Dos_Rouge
I like your JUNK build. You lose out possibility to cast Soulflayer on turn 2 by not running Faithless Looting but you have better side plan compared to a JUND build thanks to Lingering Souls and Oketra. I think you have enough hexproof creature in your deck. I'm not a fan of delving knight of malice with Soulflayer against U/W deck because blue has Jace, the Mind Sculptor and Cryptic Command but I can see it as a great card to bait counterspells and blue removal spells if you cast the knight.
I think 2 is a good number for Grim Flayer but I'd be more comfortable playing it if you had more removal spells beside Collective Brutality.
@Bradpt
I like running at least 3 Traverse the Ulvenwald. They are great utility spells. Sometimes I am stuck with 1 land in my opening hand but thanks to traverse I can keep that hand. In my deck there are synergy between traverse and Bomat Courier which gives me reason to play 4. Sacrificing Bomat while traverse is on stack usually activates delirium and lets me search for Soulflayer or whatever I need. I haven't test played Grapple as much. What keeping me from playing it is that it does nothing if opponent has leyline of the void or rest in peace in play.

I've been keeping track of the matches since April 20 when cards from Dominaria were available on mtgo. Here is the list of top 13 decks I played against in modern competitive league.
Soulflayer's match up against control and combo is not as good compared to aggro and mid-range so I decided to play Liliana of the Veil in the sideboard. Here is the deck I am currently testing.
Congrats on all the 5-0's Yuseimax, keeping the dream alive!
You are spot on about the control and combo matchups. Remand, Mana Leak and Logic Knot are probably the worst cards to play against. Match 1 yesterday at my LGS's modern night was UR Thing Pyro and he maindecked 9 of those 2 mana counters. I never landed a threat despite multiple discard in G2. Sometimes you die with a handful of Zetalpa and Chromies. Our strong points in a matchup like that seem to be
Only cast Lotleth Troll w/ mana up for regeneration
Utilize Samut's flash to cast on their end step
Try to plan for 2 big plays in a turn. (Soulflayer + Traverse + Soulflayer for example, can be tough to have a graveyard potent enough though)
Maindeck Thrun
My other two matches were Grixis Control and Bogles, 2-0'd both. There is definitely an edge from people not knowing the deck. Grixis Control
G1 - Lotleth Troll held off Tasigur long enough for me to Faithless into Faithless into Soulflayer. He had a hand of 5-6 cards but I had Traverse, 5 lands total and a huge Graveyard. I waited until my next turn and baited the Cryptic w/ my first Soulflayer to then cast Traverse and another SF - I was worried about a 2 CMC counter but they only play 2-3. He had Damnation but scooped after seeing Zetalpa under my SF (good trick for remembering keywords - store relevant delved cards under SF).
G2 - This was nuts. 2 lands, Soulflayer, Zetalpa, Caryatid, Faithless Looting and something else. Exactly as expected, T2 huge Soulflayer wrapped it up. He played his 2nd land (Steam Vents) tapped which made it an easy call. I probably would have gone for it anyway.
Bogles wasn't too eventful, flying + vigilance + lifelink usually let's us win the race.
The 2 matchups on your list that I'm surprised about are Bogles and Grixis Shadow. Bogles is definitely a race and vigilance/lifelink are a must. Most lists only run 2 Path main but more in the board, so plan hexproof accordingly.
Against Shadow I would think discard/LotV are the tough cards, but that holds true for Jund and your win rate there is awesome. Maybe it's the faster clock?
This is definitely my favorite aggro-combo deck at the moment. Keep up the tuning, I've usually been playing a version of your list when I play.

Played this deck last night at FNM and had a blast. We get around 40 folks for our fnms and when playing people i quickly became that guy playing that deck. My record was 3-2 with the two losses being close.
2-0 Mardu
2-0 Burn
2-0 U Control
1-2 Tezzerator
1-2 RG Bushwacker
I made some slight changes to the last 5-0 list. I cut a salvage for a grapple. Then 2 sideboard changes. I cut a thoughtseize for duress and an abrupt decay for engineered explosives.
I did some studying prior to the deck and been reading the forum and decided these were solid changes. I see folks talking about pryoclasm and anger but i would recommend EE. It gives some flex into what you can bring it in against and most aggressive decks then to play multiple creatures of the same cc. Merfolk, Humans, Boggles etc. It also allows for a blood moon answer in addition to what you normally bring in.
One thing I might change is cutting a bromat courier for the 4th salvage or another graple. I found myself siding them out most games. I do however like the card and 2 might be the right number.
I liked it the EE a lot. Testing out the deck on mtgo. Only running 2 Bomat. Unfortunately dont have collective brutalities so subbing them.
@Bradpt I think you should do a 2 and 2 split for Drogskol. Its worth it.
One probably I had with the deck is game 1 is lack of artifact and enchantmwnt removal. I might try 1 E.E. main at some point or some etb creature to target it.
Here is the list I am testing right now. I have hard time playing against Elf and Merfolk so I think Engineered Explosives will help. I increased the number of Zetalpa, Primal Dawn and Drogskol Reaver for the same reason. I am thinking of removing Thrun, the Last Troll from sideboard if my winrate against UW control doesn't improve.
Here is the list I am currently testing. As an attempt to reduce the mulligan rate, I removed Traverse the Ulvenwald from the maindeck because it does nothing by itself. Therefore I also removed Bomat Courier and Chromanticore because they are less useful without a card that relies on delirium. Instead I decided to add Commune with the Gods and Lingering Souls because they are good by itself. I want to eventually find space to return Samut, Voice of Dissent in the maindeck.

That's a big change Yuseimax, I'm interested to see what you think of the 2 versions. Traverse has been pretty clutch in my experience, maybe 3 is the right number. I think counterspells are the Achilles' heel of the deck and Traverse + Cavern is a strong out.
I've also found a glut of 2 CMC things to do aside from playing Soulflayer, I wouldn't be surprised to see too many Trolls / Salvages / Communes end up in your hand. Faithless can help pitch them but it has happened to me w/ 4+4 trolls and salvages.
I do think Fanatical Firebrand is better than Bromat (credit drew02k ;). Affinity, Infect, Counters Company are tier 1/2 matches that come to mind where it helps a lot more. I've also only cashed in Bomat a handfull of times.

I decided to increase the number of 1 mana creature to make Worship more effective. With my previous deck I had several cases where I just needed 1 mana to cast Worship and I would have possibly won the match. Playing 4 Birds of Paradise instead of Lingering Souls should solve that problem. Although it somewhat loses the consistency of playing Soulflayer without Traverse the Ulvenwald, this deck has Commune with the Gods that can help search for Soulflayer or Worship.
Lately I've also been working on an anti-control brew
This deck's plan is to lure opponent into countering Soulflayer or Lotleth Troll early in the game and then cast Summoning Trap for 0 mana. The main target for the Trap is Sagu Mauler and Keranos, God of Storms. They are both a great threat against control because they have protection from Path to Exile. Keranos can help generate card advantage and more importantly it deals consistent damage to opponent who protect themselves with Settle the Wreckage and Blessed Alliance backed by Snapcaster Mage. Although Sagu is weak against Supreme Verdict, Sette the Wreckage and Blessed Alliance, it can deal a lot of damage if it comes into play early enough.
I want to eventually make a hybrid of the two deck so I can have advantage over aggro with Worship and control with Summoning Trap.
Is Sagu Mauler over Carnage Tyrant purely a budget move? Or do you actually see relevant lines of play where playing Sagu Mauler via morph (or playing it to chump block and go to grave where it's useful) happens?
May I ask what the 2 Shriekmaw in the sideboard is for?
