Genju is quite a bit better than lifelink...multiple activations gives you an instant of gaining life for each time you activated it. Since it is worded as "whenever" it is a triggered ability, not a static. I actually think it would be pretty good in here, especially with burn running rampant.
Good point - I particularly like Genju because, regardless of having Assault Formation or Doran, it's still a good anti-aggro card. 2 life and killing goblin guide? Sure! And at 1 cmc, it's easy to replay if they bolt the land.
I'm thinking of using cmc 1 wall and overgrown battlement to easily pay for dragonlord dromoka. For 6 mana or 1 plain with overgrown battlement and 4 other wall, you get a can't be countered flying lifelink that hits for 7 instead of 5 with assault formation. Dragonlord dromoka also sorta makes all your cards can't be countered during your turn too. Even if assault formation is removed, its still a 5/7 flying lifelink can't be countered dragon that could push and possibly win the game. And with primeval Titan and kassig wolf run and maybe 1 inkmoth nexus, it sounds fun to me and makes the deck less dependent on assault formation to win the game. This let the deck have 3 different ways of winning: by wall with assault formation, by kassig with dromoka or primeval, or by poison from kassig and inkmoth. Just an idea.
Possibly have Traproot Kami's in SB and put them in versus decks playing green. Since I'm splashing black for Doran as a backup, I'm open to other suggestion in black. But mainly I've focused on GW.
Edit: What are your thoughts on Reveillark? Since most if not all of our creatures have power less than 2 and with ramp from Overgrown Battlement and Axebane Guardian, it's a nice recursion if some of our creatures get discarded or countered.
It's a good list, I don't like Nylea, God of the Hunt. And with 5 non Forest lands I don't like Traproot Kami. You don't have a real turn 1 play, so maybe black splash for Thoughtseize/IOK
As long as you have a Wall that can make 4+ mana (Overgrown Battlement and Axebane Guardian) you can go infinite. Draw your deck, gain infinite life, play Tree of Redemption--Hell draw your deck and give all your walls haste somehow and kill them. Or just infinite life.
You play as an Assault Formation deck that has a combo finish, or just attack for lots.
TWoo built a Wall deck that Genesis Waves for Worship+Hexproof. I think Staff is way better because you can just kill them dead. You naturally stall aggro due Walls and lifegain--maybe in just rambling here, but this could work.
EDIT NUMBER 2: Here's a list of dumb ***** I've done with this deck so far:
-Comboed with Staff on turn 4.
-Attacked for 10 the turn I played Assault Formation
-Akroma's Memorial on turn 5, had enough mana left over to attack for 35
-Attacked with a Flying, Trample, Pro Red/Black, Hastey 0/45000000000 Tree.
- I think some good inclusions could be Carven Caryatid as most other creatures are 0/4 and this becomes a 5/5 which can take out opposing Rhinos and Tas if the game ever gets that far.
- Jeskai Barricade does give us some nice combat tricks but people aren't really attacking all that much since it is usually pointless. It can pickup Wall of Omens which is really nice card advantage too. If you ever get two at once you can chumpblock for days, and it provides a good clock in the air.
- Order of the Stars is cool. Playing vs decks with Bolt as their removal? Name red. Playing vs Abrupt Decay? Name green and block Goyf's for days.
- Stalwart Shield-Bearers I like this as a way to buff the entire team, but it is susceptible to bolt so I don't know how applicable it can be.
Hopefully BFZ can bring some good defenders to Modern.
I think Gwave+Staff of Domination is better than Gwave and just trying to go big. I'd run Fervor and 1-2 Stomping grounds over the memorial since 3cmc is very relevant and the main thing we want from the memorial is haste. You can Gwave with x=5 and just win by flipping staff+Fervor+battlement.
I like Carven Caryatid more than Wall of Mulch since 1) She draws you a card immediately 2) she can block Rhinos, Tasis, and most Goyfs for days 3) the 2 power is relevant, letting her kill some small redcreatures if we don't have an assault formation down and 4) we're already a bit crowded on good 2drops.
Unfortunately for Order of the Stars burn is really the only deck it excels against, BG/x usually runs pure black/their off color removal spells in addition to decay and naming that means we no longer block goyfs, so its just not as strong and Nyx-Fleece Ram and Perimeter Captain is generally better against burn even though one isn't a wall.
Multiple Staves are better than multiple Assault Formations since they at least add a mana if we only have 4 walls out. Fervor, as a I mentioned above, lets us randomly win off a small wave and also makes us fairly explosive. Hierarch, while it doesn't have defender, gives us access to 3drops on T2 and smooths out scry land draws, letting us drop the scry land and a 2drop. Since we're splashing red for Fervor might as well have Blood Moon in the board. We're fairly resilient to it with all our mana dorks and mostly single G/W outside of Genesis Wave, which we want to be ramping into anyway and have 10 reliable red sources by T3 and can occasionally drop it T2.
Kataki's in the SB because affinity but we might be able to change him up for sweeter things, like choke, depending on if we need the extra help against affinity or not.
I'm currently running a mono-green version (for Nykthos) with only 3 copies of Primal Surge as the only non permanent spells in the whole deck. It's the most hilarious deck I've played since Modern Belcher. Putting half my deck on the battlefield, including: Assault formation, Akroma's Memorial and a bazillion walls, made one of the best turn 4 win ever.
No I don't, but that could be used. Here is my current list, take note it's still a work in progress, it's far from optimal, but none the less, very very fun:
Seeing how you don't run any removal such as Path or Abrupt Decay etc., how quickly can you go off and does the deck allow to reasonably stall the game until you hit Primal Surge?
And what about running Boseiju to prevent Surge from getting countered?
As far as my deck posted on previous page goes, went 1-4 (had a bye!) with 0 wins.
Round 1: Junk. Early game discard and then sacrifice via Lilliana were my downfall.
Round 2 and 3: Played against Twin decks, hard to do anything if you don't have an immediate answer to Twin.
Round 4: Tron. Again, nothing to do against T3 Karn.
Generally unfavorable matchups. Decided to cut Doran as it does nothing on it's own. Doesn't allow my defenders to attack, gives the effect to their creatures as well.
just because I like tooling around with magiccards.info searches, here's some interesting results for +0/+ that could be of use:
http://magiccards.info/query?q=f:modern not t:creature o:+0/+&v=card&s=cname
Accorder's Shield (strictly better than Kite Shield)
Eland Umbra
Shields of Velis Vel (admittedly niche but tutorable)
Slagwurm Armor
Tower Defense (hellllooooo alpha strike)
Triton Tactics (+6 damage for 1 mana?!)
Similar search for only creatures had one result that's probably too cute and a bunch of reverse firebreathing (1 mana for +0/+1 until EoT):
http://magiccards.info/query?q=f:modern t:creature o:0/ not o:-0/&s=cname&v=card&p=2
Skinshifter
and some land -> creature cards:
http://magiccards.info/query?q=f:modern t:aura o:land o:creature&v=card&s=cname
Genju of the Fields the better of the two: lifelink, dodges sweepers and returns to hand when the land dies
Guardian Zendikon

I'd say Tower Defense is a better option. Sure it's 1 mana more but it affects all your creatures and can be used late game as a great finisher.
I've put together this so far
3 Axebane Guardian
2 Doran, the Siege Tower
2 Indomitable Ancients
2 Nylea, God of the Hunt
4 Nyx-Fleece Ram
2 Overgrown Battlement
3 Traproot Kami
