That list looks awesome. Thanks for sharing it. I actually ordered another Meddling Mage last week because of how good it is against companions. I didn't expect to see anyone playing them in their maindecks. Especially not 3 copies (unless you play humans), but maybe we are at that point. It is exciting that jeskai delver is finally probably a good choice for a lot of players. I mean we have all been playing it for a long time, but now the masses will get to enjoy the deck. It appears as though my work will finally slow down this weekend so I will have time to play a bit of magic. It has been a weird few months, but its starting to get back to normal at least for work. We still have a long way to go before life gets back to normal.
Admittedly, Stevomat, I posted my list before going to bed so I didn't have time to type out a substantial comment.
So now that I'm more awake here are my thoughts on my deck as it stands now:
Overall it's playing well enough. Not having access to MTGO and having to rely on playing with friends over video call has slowed my playtesting considerably, so there isn't much to comment on. But it's been winning games fairly often when it does get to see play, though that's with the caviat that I have yet to face the Companion based decks like the new Burn build because of my lack of accessibility to reliable testing.
I will note that my singleton Raugrin Triome has been great for my manabase (which I suddenly realize I didn't add to my post lol), as it's nice to have that tri-land as an option. Additionally, I've really been liking my pair of Boros Charms because of their mix of reach and utility, and the Winds of Abandon for dealing with larger threats. Chandra has been performing well as always, and I'm also liking Unsubstantiate. With the cantrips that would usually be seen on Remand now located in my set of Canopy lands, I'm still running the same number as traditional Team Geist, just distributed differently. Therefore I can run Unsubstantiate, which helps me clear the way for Geist.
As for how individual cards have been slightly under-performing, Electrolyze is doing decently still, but I am now willing to consider other options which might be stronger. Same with Vendilion Clique and Elspeth. All of these cards still work well, but I am willing to try alternatives because they aren't quite as versatile or useful as they used to be and Modern has changed a lot since the days of Team Geist.
Matchups:
I've primarily been testing against 4c Death's Shadow, which is a close matchup (though slightly in their favor because of all the hand disruption, Burn (the traditional, non-Lurrus variant) and combo decks like Scapeshift and Amulet Titan. I've also gotten some sporadic testing in against various Vial decks and a homebrew Boros Stoneblade. Overall, I'm pretty happy with the results I have been able to get, but I can't say if the deck will perform well in the more current state of Modern.
I am working a Jeskai Lutri deck because that just looks like too much fun! I have a preliminary list and I will post it here later after work. I can't wait to give it a try.
have you all watched these two awesome vids with Winota, Joiner of Forces deck from Daddy and from Meryn? The first one is Standard but it's a Jeskai deck, and the latter is Modern but Boros.
After watching both vids I became very interested in making a Modern Jeskai deck with Winota and I wanted to ask if anyone here would be interested in helping me build a competitive deck?
As cards to cheat into play I think the following are good options:
4x Captain of the Watch and/or 4x Agent of Treachery plus a few legendary ones 2x Lavinia of the Tenth and/or 2x Kenrith, the Returned King and/or 2x Kaervek the Merciless
Using Mentor and Pyro could be a valid strategy to create non-Human tokens. Paired with burn spells it's already a solid plan against a lot of decks. A soldier sub-theme could also work well with Captain of the Watch. There are quite a few cards that can create Soldier tokens.
I am not sure if Blue is absolutely necessary. Agent of Treachery is a great payoff card but it will never be cast (only cheated into play). Blue would mainly offer counterspell options for the SB.
What do you all think? How would you build the deck? Would you use castable Humans like Meryn or Humans that can't be cast reasonably but that are so powerful that they'll win for sure when cheated in with Winota (see candidates above)?
But I think to cast Winota on turn 4 the deck needs at least 2 more lands. But which 2 cards can I cut?
I need 10 payoff creatures to hit one in 6 cards, I also need 4 Winotas.
Maybe only 4x Raise and drop Fodder since it's sorcery speed?
Emerge seems good as it can protect Pyro while creating tokens, it can protect Winota and it even can blink Agent to gain more permanents.
I have attached my more tempo oriented version of the deck. I have literally only played a couple games with it (work is super busy right now), but it has been a blast. I really love this style deck. I am going to make a more controlling version as well like jacob comisky's and squacheifs version for fun as well. I really want to play ral zarek (the 5 drop) and the new narset planeswalker so I will make that version as well and see which one I like more.
I will keep you all posted. I will say it's one of the most fun decks I have ever brewed for sure.
I played a few test games, tweaked my initial list and ended up with this:
Resurrection has been awesome so far against hand disruption and also to play Captain or Agent from the GY after discarding them to Pyromancer or Thrill. Young Pyro didn't do enough and had to go. Thrill is supposed to help me find the missing combo pieces.
I added Skirk Prospector to have something to do on T1. It triggers Winota and can also help play her or the payoff cards faster.
So far I've been winning a lot (when I am not flooding or mana screwed) and when the deck goes off... that's a sight to behold!
It's so much fun to put more than 10 power into play attacking while stealing the opponent's best permanent
Really not many people left in this thread. I wonder if they all stopped playing MtG
I tested a lot with the Winota deck yesterday, using a lot of different cards to make it work, but I just kept loosing the whole day... so unfortunately I had to dump the deck/idea.
Today I went back to my Mono White list and played 3-1 with convincing wins agains Grixis Shadow, Jund and Soul Sisters. The one loss was against the newest monster deck MagicAids created two days ago. I lost to a T2 Emrakul in game 1 and to the Saheeli combo in game 2 - this deck is absolutely sick!
Still, the three wins were enjoyable and I still love my deck. If you're interested please click on the spoiler
(@CurdBros: Did you see my message about creating a Primer for this deck?)
I finally did it and created a Primer for my white deck so I won't post about it here anymore. All my future posts in this thread will be Jeskai-related
Btw, if you want to check out my Primer, please do so. (I hope the title is not too cheesy)
I am still lurking. I am not playing modern at the moment, Instead trying out Arena. I have not found a good Jeskia build that I am happy with in that format yet. Nice primer Stevo.
Good to see you are still lurking WickedApp! I think the pandemic has slowed things down a bit for most players. I hope it picks back up. I haven't been able to play at all really given the pandemic. I am really excited to brew right now with UR and Jeskai. I am currently trying a UR flash deck and a UR and Jeskai Lutri deck. I will let you all know if I land on anything that I think can be competitive. I am lucky that my brother lives here with me so I do have someone I can test with.
I build a Jeskai Lutri deck today on MTGO, just for fun.
Here's my interpretation
I've put quite a few surprises for the opponent in there, like Mana Tithe, Test of Faith, Jötun Grunt and Lightning Angel. It's really fun to never know what to expect from the next draw and I think it's hard to play against for the opponent.
15 creatures plus 4 PWs seem to be enough pressure. I've played two matches so far and won both.
There are just so many other great cards I'd like to add as well...
Very cool deck SteovmatUWR! I have really enjoyed the Lutri deck. Like you said, it's just really fun to draw a new card each turn. I LOVE this list because it has so many rarely seen cards. I love that players seem to have a personality in their decks. You always have awesome builds that really utilize white cards to their fullest extent. I think some of the white cards are often over looked and that probably gives you an advantage over opponents that don't see them coming. Just a ton of fun to play. It will take a little while to see if my list can be competitive, but it is definitely a ton of fun.
I do think Lutri can be competitive and several people have 5-0'd with UR, Grixis, and Jeskai Lutri so it can be competitive. My main concern is only having access to 1 copy of bolt, Force of Negation, Delver, and Snapcaster. I do think the more controlling version (definitely non-delver) is the way to go. I love playing delver, but delver literally only works with 4 copies most of the time. I am planning on making a control version, a tempo version, and an aggro version just to have a little fun and see what works and what doesn't. Right now I only have the tempo/flash version sleeved up so I will give that a try tomorrow with a little testing.
After looking at the MTGO league results it really looks like modern is the wild west again like it was intended to be. You can literally play almost anything and have fun and win. There were 5-0's with GW cats, 5-color elementals, UB flash, a cascade deck, jeskai and grixis lutri, goblins, boros equipment, and also the normal suspects (jund, burn, tron, amulet, etc). We may be living the single best modern format ever right now. With a few tweaks like getting rid of either Griselbrand, Simian Spirit Guide, or Neobrand to get rid of that silly deck I think modern would be nearly perfect. I too would like to see Veil of Summer gone, but that is a personal choice because the card hasn't warranted a ban at this point.
Yeah, I just like white combat tricks
Played four more matches with the deck today and I am 5-1 now.
I think I'd still take my mono white list to a big tournament but so far I am having a blast playing Lutri!
Just played an exciting match against Mardu Death's Shadow. My opponent won game 1. You can watch game 2 here and game 3 here.
In the other matches I didn't even need Lutri copying spells to win but in this match the otter did really shine

These games were awesome! I can honestly say that deck is my favorite deck I have seen anyone post in a long time. There is just no replacement for path to exile. I have tried UR and UWR lutri and UWR is just way better in my opinion. Since you can only have 1 of's I think a third color is a must. I totally agree that taking a lutri deck to a 10+ round tournament probably wouldn't be the best choice, it is just so much fun to play. I am definitely going to be working on my jeskai lutri deck and keeping it as one of my FNM options. I am currently working on my "go-to" deck right now which is URx flash. I have been very impressed with Cunning Nightbonder in just a few games of testing. I will keep you guys posted on how it goes and will post the list on here at some point.
Thanks for Sharing Stevomat. He has played several versions of Lutri lately. He is a fun streamer. I am a regular if you ever find your way to his stream. He is actually playing the deck right now as I am writing this :).
That deck you played in the video is just soooo awesome. Just value on top of value. I love it. That game was sweet. The opponent probably didn't know what hit them.
Sorry for being away for so long everyone, but I recently graduated and recieved a promotion at my job so I've been a little overwhelmed with everything. I'm glad I'm not the only one that's extremely excited about Lutri, the Spellchaser as I'm 4-1 and 3-2 in league matches right now. Here's the list that I'm runing with.
How has Narset of the Ancient Way been treating you? I was curous about her when she came out, but I haven't pulled the trigger on picking her up yet. In my UR Lutri deck Fact or Fiction has been an allstar so maybe I should make room for it in the Jeskai version as well. I'm glad to be back and I'm happy to see people still posting in this forum as well!

DOUBLE CONGRATS!!!!! Wow that is awesome. A graduation and a promotion is a nice combination. That is great to hear.
As for magic, I too am currently addicted to playing Lutri. There are so many ways to go with it and it just makes every game so much fun. As many of you know I was always a fan of the 1 of and 2 of so lutri is right up my alley. To be honest a lot of us on here are that way. I have found lutri to fit better in a more midrange/control shell.

Here is one more game that was really exciting: Game 3 of my match with Jeskai Lutri vs Grixis Delver feat. Lurrus. Companions can be fun!
We need to find a way to see your entire matches because they are so fun to watch. One of the highlights of the day for sure!
Me too! I love these videos. I am going to try to set up some type of recording for my matches as well once the weather gets a little cooler and work slows down.
Congrats, ManDolphin! A graduation and a promotion, and still finding the time to build a nice deck and play with it...well done!
There are quite a few interesting cards in your version. Fire Prophecy for example wasn't on my radar at all but I might try it in my deck as well.

Adding Dire Fleet Daredevil was a very good decision. Together with Lutri, Snappy, Dreadhorde Arcanist, Ranger-Captain and many other spells the value is often too much for my opponents.
Edit:
I am having a good run with Lutri. Pic related
I have been having a lot of fun and success with lutri as well. I have been working on URx flash as well. I still haven't worked out if I want to go full flash or stick with sprite dragon. I'm still working on it.
