I was going to suggest aether vial but i felt that perhaps its good enough without them and it makes it just different which is what i liked.
Do the vials make it more powerful over all? Or are there match ups where its not as good as the version without them?
It really makes a hell of a difference. The deck needs 4 Vials. It's so good to be able to flash in all creatures uncounterable. Especially if they protect and buff each other. I played nine matches today on MTGO and now I am 9-0 with this version of the deck
To everyone else, please excuse the last few non-Jeskai-related posts. On the other hand, except for CurdBros hardly nobody is posting in this thread anymore, so if you thought "why is Stevomat writing about mono white instead of Jeskai Delver" then please go ahead and post something Jeskai related
We are basically a family here on this post so if you are having fun with another deck feel free to talk about it. I am not a huge stickler on the rules as long as a majority of the thread is about delver/prowess based decks. There is a lot to be learned about playing with other decks so it's always fun to share.
I do think once the new cards come out and people start looking into prowess (with Sprite Dragon), delver with of one mind & the new octopus, and once they get into jeskai with the new jeskai dragon and spells we will get more traffic on here.
Neither am I
Im down to talk about any decks here lol
Ive been playing alot of mono green stompy so whatever. And its nice that we have this thread makes it unique

Has anyone played Jeskai Mentor? I played with a Jeskai Saheeli for a change, and Mentor felt great as a sideboard card. I like Jeskai tempo style of play, but the deck feels a little under powered against many of the tier decks.
I also enjoy mono white, and have tried a few variations like those that Stevomat has been playing.
Here is what I played recently, the deck performed surprisingly well.
Going forward I think Hex Parasite could be in the main deck. I really like Relic of Progenitus too, could go up to three or four copies. Aven Mindcensor can win games. I love Force of Virtue, it is such a fun card to play with.
I did not want to play Thalia maindeck, as it taxes us too much. Not sure if that is even needed. I will cut the main deck Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. I want to try Brimaz, King of Oreskos in the main too.
I LOVE Monastery Mentor. I bought like 10 of them when they were spoiled. I honestly thought it was going to be the best card in the set. It has never really taken off, but I think it is very underrated. It's one of those cards that ends games on it's own. If you untap with Mentor you are likely winning the game. I really want to play him in my current deck, but I haven't jumped into white with the current build.
I have been having jeskai withdraws so when the new set comes out I will definitely be building a new jeskai list.
I wish I could help more with mono white, but I have never even thought about mono white.
Have you guys tried failure//comply ?
I dont know how to link this type of card (aftermath card). It seems like a pretty good card not that I look at it. Its a pretty sweet tempo card.

@dm3pine: Squadron Hawk + Force of Virtue seems like a good strategy indeed!
Since yesterday I am playing on MTGO while rotating through three of my decks (Jeskai Delver, Jeskai Saheeli and Mono White) always switching the deck after a lost match. After the good run I posted last time I had very mixed results.
Last matches: Lost 0-2 with Mono White against Infect (felt almost unwinnable),
switched to Jeskai Saheeli and was destroyed 0-2 by Bant Control.
Switched to Jeskai Delver and was destroyed 0-2 by Living End Fakeout.
Then I switched back to Mono White and actually beat two very competitive decks: 2-1 vs Snow Control and 2-0 vs Artifact Breach!
Modern is like playing roulette... but I'd love to see Astrolabe get banned.
Anyways, tomorrow is the Ikoria launch date on MTGO and I am looking forward to build a Izzet Delver list with Rielle and a Jeskai Midrange deck with Whirlwind of Thought.
Edit:
Won two more matches with Mono White against UB Mill and Mono G Tron. Another winning streak
Interesting fact: I was able to win the last four matches all thanks to Ranger-Captain. Had to sack him in every match to protect my board and it worked every time.
I have not tried Failure // Comply. The white side just doesn't seem strong enough, but it is basically free so that might be worth it. I haven't been playing a ton of white so I haven't had a change to try it.
Nice run with mono white StevomatUWR. I know I personally hate playing againstRanger-Captain Eos so I can see why it wins you so many games. I too cannot wait until Ikoria comes out online. I am super excited to brew. I have been playtesting the new octopus in my UR delver list and it has been REALLY good. I think that card is super strong. I haven't had time to test anything else out, but I sure can't wait to try all of our new goodies. I am also really excited to see how the tri-land feels in our jeskai decks.
As soon as I get some time to play I will post some lists that I am brewing and post some results.
And here's my new Jeskai Midrange deck I built today.
It's similar to what GreatNate was playing years ago, just with newer and stronger cards.
So far the deck feels really good. Won the first four matches (against Boros Burn, Living End and two Companion builds).
After resolving Whirlwind the deck goes super saiyan!
I also built a new jeskai deck. I will be playing later tonight and I will post the list and results! It's a fun time!
It looks like if you aren't playing a companion right now you are probably losing percentage points. That is all the excuse I need to add W back into my deck.
I dont know where else to post this but Im already super tired of lurrus.
Im tired of modern getting absolutely warped with each new set. The solution is a separate entity controlling B&R. WoTC is really screwing its player base by printing OP cards, making profit then banning it. We really really need someone to step up and take control of a B&R list or we will continue to get completely warping cards until they decide they should ban it (after all profits are made) This is THE solution to this problem. I guarantee you if someone else takes control of the b&r decisions WoTC will stop their broken designs immediately bc their broken cards will not be sold at all since they will be halted at the gate.

You aren't the only one saying you are tired of Lurrus already. There have been a lot of people talking about banning it already. It truly warped modern in a big way. I am working on a UR deck and a jeskai deck outside of Lurrus because I think it will likely be banned at some point. I honestly don't know what they will do about lurrus. I think they should leave him be for a bit and see what happens, but honestly I would be super happy if I woke up tomorrow and they said they have banned simian spirit guide, veil of summer, griselbrand, and lurrus in modern.
I am all for wizards printing powerful cards and changing up the meta. I get excited on spoiler season. However, I think they need to make sure they aren't warping too much each set. Also I think they should concentrate on getting a decent number of decent instants/sorceries into modern. The best would be a set of modal spells that can help out lesser played color combos (UR, UR, UW, etc). They seem to have been concentrating hard on making permanents much better over the past 5 years, but left spells in the dust.
As for our deck the cards I am really concentrating on trying right now are Sprite Dragon, Sea-dasher Octopus, and Cunning Nightbonder. I am actually trying nightbonder in a jeskai flash deck that seems like a lot of fun and the other two in a more prowess/tempo oriented UR list. I will let you all know when I come up with something remotely playable :).
This SH*T is ridiculous.
4c Control, Burn, Jund, Scales, Delver & Toolbox in Top8 and ALL these completely different archetypes are playing Lurrus. That's just not right.
Still enjoying my decks though. Especially the white deck.
I made a few more changes to the Jeskai list I posted. Removed 2x Giver and 1x Captain and added Snap #3, Bolt #4 and Leak #3.
When the deck resolves Geist I always win. However, sometimes I only draw spells with the deck and no creatures and then the deck doesn't do much.
It still needs work...
I actually changed my list like this and I think it runs more smoothly now.
Just counter, burn, exile everything until Geist or Yidaro, Wandering Monster kill the opponent. The deck has a very strong late game with Whirlwind and the two Batterskulls help getting there.
I also refined my mono white deck even more.
Brimaz and one Selfless Spirit had to go to make room for two Knight of the Holy Nimbus.
I also removed one Captain to add another late game bomb: Odric, Master Tactician. Good, old, forgotten cards...
The deck runs 30 creatures, of which 21 are now Humans. I just realized this week that these Knights have the subtype Human as well.
The Human synergy is quite strong now. The Knights are hard to kill and can block well in the early game. Odric just wins games when I decide that none of the opponent's creatures are blocking. He is my fiths CMC4 drop but thanks to the Vials 21 lands have always been enough.
Oh, and btw, Broodmoth has been absolutely awesome every single time
If anyone wants to see replays with one of these deck then please let me know. I'll try to upload something and post it here.
The Jeskai Yidaro deck is not working. Last four matches I am 1-3...
The mono white deck continues to amaze me. 80% win percentage over the last 30 matches.
If everything ever turns back to normal and FNMs and GPs will start again AND people are still playing Modern then I might buy the deck in paper. Thankfully it only costs half as much as my sold Jeskai card collection. It will still be difficult to convince my wife that this is a necessary expenditure
I have seen jacob comisky (thepensword) go back and forth with yidaro. He was super excited about it to start, but hasn't fallen in love yet. I talk to him a lot about his builds, but we have slightly different playstyles. So far yidaro has been best for him and a SUPER controlling style list. His is UR because that is about all he will play. I am just not fully sold on the card yet. Jacob can 5-0 with just about any UR list you put in his hands.
That white deck looks sick. I don't think anyone will be prepared for it. I bet you could easily take down FNM with that and also 5-0 a league or two online while almost never taking a 2-3 or worse.
I did finally get around to making a jeskai delver lurrus list that I am going to give a try. I attached an image. It is pretty basic to start, but I want to see how it goes and then start tweaking. I like the idea of my threats staying big with +1/+1 counters so I started with brineborn cutthroat in addition to Sprite Dragon. I will let you all know how it goes.
The deck also includes 3-4 Mishra's Bauble, but I sold the ones I had because they got up to $75 each online and I assumed I could buy them back later at a much lower price.
As for modern as a whole I have to admit that I am having a lot of fun lately. It seems that the companions are overpowered, but the silver lining is that modern has become a bit more midrange oriented. These games are a lot of fun to play. I still think some bans are needed (Veil of summer, simian spirit guide, astrolabe), but I would like to wait and see what happens with the companions for a bit. It could create the natural life cycle of value decks taking over, then tron/amulet/combo preying on them, then contorl/tempo/aggro preying on those decks and then midrange takes over again starting the cycle all over That normally is a great place to be. I am excited to see what happens when games stores can start opening again because I feel like modern has regained it's place as magic's best/favorite eternal format. I just hope enough stores have survived the virus
Your Lurrus Delver looks neat! How are you doing with the deck?
I just got a reality check and lost 0-2 and 0-2 with my white deck against two different players on Lurrus Burn.
Lurrus makes Boros Burn obscenely good.
You might not be able to have fun with your Lurrus Jeskai Delver for long. Enjoy it while you still can.
I kinda of feel the same way Stevomat. I didn't really want to build Lurrus because I think it will likely get banned shortly. The burn deck is just stupid good with Lurrus in it. You basically have to have 3-4 sideboard slots for the burn matchup now to compete. I will be testing the Jeskai lurrus today and I will let you know how it goes. I do think Lurrus will likely see a ban in a couple of months though.
Today I played against another stupid companion deck and uploaded the replays for everyone below. Enjoy
In Game 1 he gets me good with his combo. If I had played against it before I would have kept up Path... (Trying Gideon here but he’s of no relevance…)
Game 2 it’s payback time. I have an answer to Summonings so I keep. Ranger-Captain buys me the turn I need to win.
Game 3 was very enjoyable… for me. My opponent can’t find his missing combo pieces and Broodmoth + Ranger-Captain rock this game and win the match!
I always love seeing these videos. I get to live vicariously through you :). I have been so busy at work that I haven't had a ton of time for magic. It's killing me since there are so many cool new goodies to try out. So far I am planning on going with my jeskai lurrus deck next time I have time to play a league. I really want to try out a UR flash deck and I have also built a Lutri deck. The lutri deck is a prowess deck that is really awesome, but definitely won't be a tier 1 deck because you have to play lesser cards. I do think it can still be competitive though.
@GofyTomcat1: I can see that you're still playing the same list, pretty much unchanged. How's it doing in the new meta? It would be nice if you could add some comments and not only post your list.
