That's some serious success. It's always hard to sell people on decks like this that are very tuned for a personal preference. I always find it hard to sell the deck without the person actually trying the deck first. GreatNate is the only major streamer to give my jeskai delver deck a try and he went 4-1 in a competitive league.
Really the best way to get a deck idea to the masses is to 5-0 with the deck in a modern competitive league. Then it will be published on the Wizards website so people can see it. I plan on doing that with my list in a couple of months when I have some time to play online (the slow season for my company is december, january, febuary).
Those results are awesome and shows just how many decks you can run into in modern. There are some really cool matchups on there.
I'm glad you were able to get your second copy of seasoned pyromancer. It seems awesome in your list. I think modern masters was a huge hit. I'm glad they pushed the boundaries with the power level so they could see how they can really affect modern if they plan on doing a modern masters 2. I assume the popularity of modern makes it almost impossible not to do another modern masters set.
I really enjoyed all these different matches. It was funny how I got smashed by RW Norin Sisters just like when I was still playing Delver. I also found it interesting that two of the few decks I lost against were playing 4x Rotting Regisaur. The last match on the list was very enjoyable (for me at least) because I destroyed my opponent with the Sword of Truth and Justice in game 2
I apologize if my posts sound like I want to convert everyone to join the Saheeli religion. It's just that I never had such crazy good results before and it's still a very enjoyable interactive deck to play and to play against, so I want many players to give it a try.
But I am also always glad when I get advice here. BloodyRabbit_01 was right about the Seasoned Pyros - they are great in this deck. Two copies seem to be just right in a deck that's using the SFM package and the full combo package.
The cards I am trying/thinking about atm are Spellskite and JTMS. Spellskite could be perfect for the SB as it counters artifact hate and protects the combo against removal while JTMS could be the perfect replacement for the last Narset.

It's no big deal. I am always open to hear any information about a jeskai deck and I am happy when people are doing well and excited about their deck. I think too many of these forums get to caught up in saying "you have to play this style deck to post here". We all like the jeskai shard and playing tempo and/or aggro control style decks so I think everyone likes to hear about all of them. If anyone complains I will let you know, but I highly doubt that will ever happen.
I am super excited that delver is starting to see some play in modern. I like the aspiring spike list, but it's not my style. I am not into super control oriented tempo decks. The deck is awesome, but suffers from the typical delver problem that when it's ahead it's great, but when it gets behind or has to grind it has a real problem. Archmage's Charm and Mystic Sanctuary really help, but it just isn't my style. I have played against it with my deck several times and had no problem beating it regularly. That doesn't say much because my deck is well positioned against it, but I still prefer adding white to the deck for helix, geist, path, and the sideboard options.
I don't have a problem with you posting a lot of Jeskai CopyCat information here since I feel that this is the Jeskai Tempo/Aggro/Combo forum (and as long as the combo is has some control or aggro elements). That's some valuable data you just posted there StevomatUWR! I've always wanted to give CopyCat a try but I've never pulled the trigger on picking up Saheeli Rais. Quick question regarding Stoneforge Mystic, did the fourth copy feel like too much or was there another reason?
At the moment I've been playing RUG Delver because I really wanted to jam some Nimble Mongoose, but two weekends ago I played Jeskai Breach with Stoneforge Mystic for fun. I'll probably switch back to a Jeskai variant after a while, but I like to jump around and play stuff that I've brewed up in my head. Things like UG Flash (in modern mind you), UB Midrange, and Blue Skred just need to played for... reasons. Anyways, I'll still be brewing up Jeskai stuff so I'll be around.

That is the beauty of modern. You can brew something up and can be successful with it most likely! I love tinkering with new cards in my deck and having fun with new ideas. I, of course, am still running jeskai delver.
I know we all talked about this in the past, but it's another great time for Lavinia, Azorious Renegade. So if you have any slots in the sideboard give her a look.
@ManDolphin: The fourth copy often felt useless in my deck during testing. I never want to draw more than two copies since I almost never run more than two targets for them. I almost always leave Batterskull in my deck during sideboarding and only switch Sword of Feast and Famine for Sword of Truth and Justice if needed. A third SFM is basically a 1/2 for two mana and nothing more. Also, if I need to grab another equipment I can flicker a SFM with Felidar Guardian or copy it with Saheeli.
Right now I am thinking about a copy of The Royal Scions in my deck. I never really considered it because I always wanted to put it in an aggressive deck with Geist, but Blue Moon is also using it to filter and in my deck it could help me find the combo pieces and also turn an otherwise lackluster Snappy or SFM into an 3/2 or 4/1 attacker with First Strike and Trample which isn't too bad.
Yesterday night I won 2-0 against some kind of BW Stoneblade deck and game 2 was so much fun.
I uploaded game 2 here
Sometimes it can be very entertaining to just ultimate Saheeli and get three artifacts
At FNM on Friday I went 3-1.
2-0 vs Skred Red
2-0 vs Blue Moon
2-1 vs Jund
1-2 vs U/G Eldrazi
I was very angry at myself because I only lost the third game because of bad sequencing during the last turn.
Anyways, my opponent's deck was very impressive. Once upon a Time is busted, Matter Reshaper into Elder Deep-Fiend combined with TKS and Reality Smasher is back-breaking, Chalice on 1 is very strong too...
Today I bought The Royal Scions in paper and on MTGO to play one copy in my deck. I'll let you know how it goes.
The pioneer format has finally been announced. Obviously since Delver is not a legal card it will be interesting to see where tempo goes. It will definitely start with 4 copies of Treasure Cruise.
That Eldrazi deck is really strong. I have always struggled against Eldrazi decks. That's still a great record overall (4-1) against a wide range of decks.
I have joined the MTGO community. I played my first match today. Of course it as against jund and I was on the draw both games. However, I 2-0'd! I don't know whether I should retire undefeated or not
Game 1- He had two thoughtseize and 1 IOK. I had a delver turn one that flipped on turn 3 and drew another. I finished him when he tapped out for a two goyfs and the second delver flipped so I attacked for 6 in the air and bolted him.
Game 2- My hand was very slow, but I was on the draw. It had scions, FON, 3 lands, path, helix, and bedlam reveler. He again started with two card removal spells taking scions and and FON (which I think was a mistake because I couldn't cast it). He then played a Wren and Six. I drew into swiftspear and Geist. He tapped out for a Bloodbraid Elf hitting Liliana of course. He made a mistake here by having us both discard a card when he was at 11 life. I discarded reveler then untapped, pathed the elf and attacked him for lethal (6 from geist/angel, 3 from swiftspear, and 3 from helix).
It was a very satisfying win for match 1 against one of our worst matchups. Hopefully the next 4 go in a similar fashion so the deck can get published on the 5-0 dump.
How is everyone doing? Is everyone playing poineer right now? I am not going to play pioneer until things settle a little. I am still a modern guy at heart.
@CurdBros:
Awesome. So you jumped straight into a league! Good luck
I am still playing Modern even though CopyCat could be pretty good in Pioneer. I'll tinker on a Pioneer version in a few weeks.
I invested in a few cards though that definitely will go up in value until next year.
It'd be great if we could play a match on MTGO sometime.

I figured I will just jump straight into the deep end :). I need to make sure I let my opponent know I am new so they can see why I may be a little slower. I would love to play sometime. I basically sign on, play one match of my league and sign off. I just play when I have an extra 20 minutes to play. Just shoot me a message when you are on sometime. Although I think you version of copy cat will likely be pretty favored against me with teferi and tons of walkers for value, it would still be fun to give it a go sometime.
Oh and if you write me on MTGO and I don't respond within like 1 minute, that means I forgot to close the program on my computer and it is just sitting open on my computer and I am not there. I accidentally do that sometimes.
I agree on pioneer. I am still sticking to modern mainly. I will definitely make a pioneer deck at some point, but I am not doing anything just yet other than just tinkering on paper.
@CurdBros: I don't think that you need to play in the practice room to hone your Magic skill. I am only worried that you could loose a match in a league because of how unintuitive the MTGO UI can be. If your opponent uses Lily's -6 for example, the pile you choose is the one that will get sacrificed and not the one that you'll keep. And there always were problems with Leonin Arbiter as you can read here. MTGO can be tricky sometimes so be carfeful and good luck with your 5-0.
Indeed, I already own various UW cards (T3feri, Queller, Celestial colonnades, etc) but I'm completly lost when it comes to the mana base Moreover, seems like red fetches are quite expensive nowadays ^^
Thus, I came up with the following mana base idea:
3 Celestial Colonnade (already in my collection),
4 Flooded Strand (will need to buy),
2 Hallowed Fountain (already in my collection),
4 Sulfur Falls (will need to buy),
2 Sacred Foundry (will need to buy),
4 Mountain,
2 Plains,
2 Island,
2 Glacial Fortress (already in my collection),
Do you think that it's viable/competitive or it's a crazy manabase ?
For info, please find attached my decklist.
Ps: Dreadhorde Arcanist seems like a great Snapcaster budget alternative.
Ps2: If you feel that my list is not competitive feel free to let me know
Thanks in advance for your help and talk to you soon guys

I totally understand what you are saying Stevomat. I think the hardest part so far has been making sure I click everything correctly. I have already clicked through my attack phase and found out that I don't have a "stop" on the opponents upkeep to play an instant. It's a learning curve for sure. I also need to make sure my sideboard is more geared towards MTGO. I didn't change anything to start the first league, but I have heard people say that the sideboard needs to be slightly different online.
I finished 3-2 in the first league and 1-1 in my second league so far. I am actually pretty heppy given that I haven't won a die roll yet. I am 0-7 on die rolls :(. I played against Jund twice (won once and lost once), sultai whirza twice (won and lost), grixis death shadow (won), amulet titan (won), and against black green infect (which I lost, but should have won easily if I didn't draw 12 of my lands and 4 spells in the third game for the win).
So far I am very happy with the results given my poor luck so far and inexperience with the software. I do think it will help me in the long run play better.

Have a nice day.
Welcome to the community! I love helping with "budget" builds because they really allow us to use some really cool cards and more thought rather than just jamming 4 ofs of the most expensive cards.
When it comes to building a budget deck or any deck I always like to think of the gameplan in game 1 first and then the post board game plan. Right now you have a fairly high top end and what appears to be a somewhat midrange/control oriented build given that your 1 and 2 drops need additional time and mana to be successful. Dreadhorde anarchist doesn't really fit into that style of deck only because it has to attack through to get value. In my opinion you could cut the dreadhoarde anarchist and add more counter magic to go a little more midrange. Another direction you could go if you would prefer to be more aggressive/tempo would be to cut a couple of lands, cut the goblins, possibly cut one path, and add more counter magic and young pyromancer or delver.
Before I get to far ahead of myself in terms of any suggestions I have a few questions?
1. What cards do you love and want to play?
Even if they are lesser played cards like Soulfire Grandmaster let us know because the game is supposed to be fun first. Unless you are playing tournament magic only. We can build the deck around the cards you want to play.
2. What style of deck do you prefer?
Aggro, Aggro-control, tempo, midrange, or control?
3. What is your budget?
We have already hit on this so I will assume we aren't adding any snapcaster mage, force of negation, and/or scalding tarns. You really don't need scalding tarns to have a good mana base and spell pierce/snare can be almost as effective as negation. There is no replacing snapcaster mage, but the deck is still very playable without him.
Once those questions are answered we can get into the more minute card choices and can build the mana base once we know what the base cards are in your deck.
Here comes more info about me in order to help with the recommendations.
What kind of player?
- I'm currently playing FNM & events on weekends. Moreover, I'm trying to do Modern Serie event each month and want to do various GP next year. So I would say that I'm more leaning towards competitive.
1. What cards do you love and want to play?
I already own various UW cards such as Geist, Spell Queller T3feri, Restoration Angel, Colonnades, etc But, when I started to check the red cards avalaible, I really liked the following ones:
- Dreadhorde Arcanist,
- Goblin Dark-Dwellers,
- Lightning Helix,
- Lightning Bolt,
I really like the fact that these cards (Bolt & Helix) could help to stabilize the board/put pressure in the early turn and then close it in the mid-game/late-game by recasting them for "free" with Dreadhorde Arcanist & Goblin Dark-Dwellers. Do you feel that it could be competitive ?
If I had to choose one card from UW:
- Geist of Saint Traft (I really like it too^^)
2. What style of deck do you prefer?
I think that I prefer Midrange decks (that can lean a bit towards control if needed or vice-versa.
I'm not a big fan of counterspells as I prefer to be a bit more proactive than reactive I think (If I had to think about an example: like casting creatures that put a clock while cleaning the board/pressuring with red spells I think).
3. What is your budget?
As I'm playing more and more competitive events, I'm willing to update the deck step by step. Something around 100 dollars each months. I already own various UW cards but I really like the red ones mentionned before. Of course, as you have more experience than I do, if you tell me that Geist/Queller/T3feri/Resto are way better&competitive than the previous red ones, I will follow your advices (Even if I really liked to discover Dreadhorde Arcanist ^^) .
I guess that the first area to invest would be to buy flooded strand but I'm very lost when it comes to 3 colors in modern
For me, a budget deck would look something like this: Note: I'm somewhat biased towards Geist as that is my personal deck, hence this theoretical list is leaning towards a Geist type gameplan.
4 Lightning Bolt
3-4 Lightning Helix
4 *flex slot*(Remand,Electrolyze,Mana Leak, Opt/Serum Visions, other interaction and removal options)
4 Path to Exile
4 *flex slot* (See above flex slots)
4 Geist of Saint Traft (Spell Queller if you don't want to play Geist)
4 Dreadhorde/ Mission Briefing/ other "Pseudo Snap" effect (*eventually replace with Snapcaster*)
4 *flex slot* (Queller/Geist, Restoration Angel, etc)
2 Goblin Dark Dwellers/ Vendilion Clique
2-3 PW (personal choice, various options include Gideon of the Trials/ Ally of Zendikar, Tef3ri, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, JTMS, Royal Scions etc).
That looks pretty sweet to play! I might personally play a bit more interaction and spells (especially if you want to run YP), but overall I really like the direction you're taking this.
Right now, the only part i'm "afraid of" is the mana base as I never played 3 colors. As you have more experience than I do, does it looks out of place from your point of view or it's seem reasonable?
@JeskaiBeginner
Mana base looks good. The rest of the core cards also look good.
I play 4 heaths and rarely have trouble finding the right combo of lands I need.
You are playing a lot of value creatures that love Instants or sorcery. Instants can give you a lot of value on your opponents turn. silence is cheap and fun to play. abrade is a good catch all. card draw is always good.
Remember, before the Onslaught/Khans fetches were legal, everyone had to play off colored fetch lands. So the use of Heaths to fetch for your white lands shouldn't be too much of a problem.
As for spells, my current setup looks something like this:
4 Bolt
4 Helix
4 Path
2 Electrolyze
2 Abrade
4 Remand
First of all, I would like to thank everyone for the help and the warm welcoming! Good vibes here
After all your feedbacks, here comes the list that I'm going to try this weekend.
Due to the prices spikes regarding Inspiring Vantage & Spirebluff Canal, I replaced them for 4 Battlefield Forge and 1 Shivan Reef. I understand that the painlands are not the ideal (especially against Burn) but I hope that it can do the work and I will upgrade the manabase next month.
Let see how this "semi-budget" list will perform.
Ps: I just saw the huge spike regarding spell queller, luckily I bought them earlier this year.

Speaking about the SB...
Here are the results of the first big Modern tournament with ELD cards
It's interesting that two cards can counter all decks in the top 10: Flashfreeze & Shatterstorm
Adding these two to your SB might be a good idea right now.

New Jeskai player here, I'm glad to join the community
What drove me to the deck is cool UW cards such as Geist, Spell Queller and Teferi but with the addition of red to quickly put pressure.
I am totally new to the deck and I'm currently building a "semi-budget" Tempo/Midrange version based on this primer: https://www.coolstuffinc.com/a/jeffhoogland-08022019-jeskai-tempo-primer (I hope that it is still competitive )
Indeed, I already own various UW cards (T3feri, Queller, Celestial colonnades, etc) but I'm completly lost when it comes to the mana base Moreover, seems like red fetches are quite expensive nowadays ^^
Thus, I came up with the following mana base idea:

I played against Jund twice (won once and lost once), sultai whirza twice (won and lost), grixis death shadow (won), amulet titan (won), and against black green infect (which I lost, but should have won easily if I didn't draw 12 of my lands and 4 spells in the third game for the win).
So far I am very happy with the results given my poor luck so far and inexperience with the software. I do think it will help me in the long run play better.
Thanks for posting and I hope we can help
Thanks for the warm welcoming !
I already own various UW cards such as Geist, Spell Queller T3feri, Restoration Angel, Colonnades, etc
But, when I started to check the red cards avalaible, I really liked the following ones:
Bonus Insight:
As a newbie to this archetype, if I had to think about the core of a deck that seems competitive to my current knowledge, I would say something like this (but it may be junk newbie ^^):
4 Opt
4 Path to Exile
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Lightning Helix
4 Dreadhorde Arcanist
4
Geist of Saint Traft: After reflexion 4 Spell Queller (with the combination of 2 T3feri)2 Teferi, Time Raveler (works great with Spel Queller)
2 Restoration Angel (Added)
2 Goblin Dark-Dwellers
Hope all these answers helped.
Thanks for the help CurdBros !
Note: I'm somewhat biased towards Geist as that is my personal deck, hence this theoretical list is leaning towards a Geist type gameplan.
4 Lightning Bolt
3-4 Lightning Helix
4 *flex slot*(Remand,Electrolyze,Mana Leak, Opt/Serum Visions, other interaction and removal options)
4 Path to Exile
4 *flex slot* (See above flex slots)
4 Geist of Saint Traft (Spell Queller if you don't want to play Geist)
4 Dreadhorde/ Mission Briefing/ other "Pseudo Snap" effect (*eventually replace with Snapcaster*)
4 *flex slot* (Queller/Geist, Restoration Angel, etc)
2 Goblin Dark Dwellers/ Vendilion Clique
2-3 PW (personal choice, various options include Gideon of the Trials/ Ally of Zendikar, Tef3ri, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, JTMS, Royal Scions etc).
24 Lands
Thanks a lot for your feedback
What do you think of the following list? Do you think that it's a good start into a competitive Jeskai ?
I'm note sure about Young Pyromancer but I don't know yet about the good 2 drops in red.
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Opt
4 Path to Exile
4 Lightning Helix
2 Grim Lavamancer
4 Dreadhorde Arcanist
4 Young Pyromancer
4 Spell Queller
2 Teferi, Time Raveler
2 Restoration Angel
2 Goblin Dark-Dwellers
2 Glacial Fortress
2 Celestial Colonnade
2 Hallowed Fountain
For info I only included the lands I already own so it will be easier to construct a manabase with the community
NB: Windswept Heath are pretty cheap nowadays, maybe I could buy a playset to help with the manabase.
Talk to you soon
I did some homeworks regarding the mana base.
What do you think of the following "semi budget" mana base ?
2 Glacial Fortress
2 Celestial Colonnade
2 Hallowed Fountain
4 Windswept Heath
2 Plains
3 Mountain
2 Island
4 Inspiring Vantage
2 Sacred Foundry
1 Spirebluff Canal
Ps: newbie to tri-color here
I will keep working on the list.
Right now, the only part i'm "afraid of" is the mana base as I never played 3 colors. As you have more experience than I do, does it looks out of place from your point of view or it's seem reasonable?
Mana base looks good. The rest of the core cards also look good.
I play 4 heaths and rarely have trouble finding the right combo of lands I need.
You are playing a lot of value creatures that love Instants or sorcery. Instants can give you a lot of value on your opponents turn. silence is cheap and fun to play. abrade is a good catch all. card draw is always good.
