I love altered cards. They are extremely unique and really make a deck feel like your own. They are way better than foils in my opinion. I have thought about sending my entire deck out to be altered, but haven't wanted to spend that much money on the deck with so many new cards coming out that I want to purchase (war of the spark and modern horizons).
So far I am very happy with them (otherwise I wouldn't have upgraded). Last FNM for example Geist won me the match against Grixis Control but Young Pyromancer won me the match against UB Mill and a game against Eldrazi Aggro because the opponent couldn't find an answer fast enough. The match against Eldrazi however did end with a 1-1-1 draw. When I had about 5 tokens and my opponent was at 2 life with only one blocker he drew the only out in his deck: Ratchet Bomb, but well that's Magic...
It's kind of a settled time in modern right now so there is not much to share. I have been cube drafting a lot lately. No much to report on my end. Same old story. I haven't made any changes to the deck. I am very much looking forward to Modern Horizons for some new goodies. Because not much is going on, I am going to work on a few card ideas I would love to see in Modern Horizons. I will share them as soon as I have finished. Hope everyone is doing well.
Well I bought my third Snapcaster Mage so I am super happy, but I will wait with the forth one because of modern horizons. Btw CurdBros, why do you prefer Remand over Mana Leak? Sorry, if it was discussed already.
I have not been playing much since my LGS closed. I have been going though my cards and putting other deck lists together trying to anticipate the meta and build a deck that hoses it. None of them work well in a Jeskia deck. trinisphere , anafenza, the foremost, maralen of the mornsong , aven mindcensor, and leonin arbiter.

That's awesome Dzung! Snapcaster Mage makes a world of difference in the deck. You can run three copies and be just fine. You don't need a fourth copy, but it never hurts to run 4 snapcasters. I prefer remand personally because it fits my deck's play-style a little bit more than mana leak. With Bedlam Reveler, burn, and bounce spells, I really want to cast a critical mass of spells. In addition, I have a rather low land count. Remand helps me cantrip through the deck and get to lands and additional spells. I just need to buy time more so then get rid of spells for good. In addition, I lean on Path to exile also. I really don't think the difference between the two is very large. Either will work, but I do think mana leak will work for more decks in general. In the end it comes down to preference in my opinion.
WickedApp- Yeah the only one that works for us is aven mindcensor. I really hope they print Containment Priest in modern horizons for our sidebaord. I am more excited to see the new cards than reprints. From your list you could play Abazan midrange and/or a big mana deck.

What about Hallowed Moonlight works like a priest and hits tokens. a one time exile is still fair and can be a target for snappy plus it replaces its self.
I am leaning towards a abazan midrange taxes/CoCo deck, if phoenix and dredge stay popular.
@dzung ; I am still getting used to my 2 snappys, the play style of the deck does shift when you include them. baby Jace is not a valid substitute for this style of deck (if jace had haste). As for remand vs mana leak, I like them both but I have been leaning towards the Leak as it removes. There have been a lot of low mana CMC cards seeing play, sometimes remand is not effective late game.
I have played Hallowed Moonlight in my sideboard before and it worked fine, but having a creature allows the affect to continue until they remove the creature. A lot of times the decks that get hurt by this effect don't have a large number of creature removal spells. Also the body helps us chip them down for damage. That's why I think Containment Priest is a big upgrade for our sideboard. I hope they give white mages some tools to compete in modern because white mana is basically useless in modern except for amazing sideboard cards and path to exile.
You are correct about the playstyle. The deck takes on a slightly more control oriented style once you include snapcaster. With that said it can still be a very aggressive style if that is what you like. You can play him as an Ambush Viper without deathtouch and/or flash back a burn spell. Snappy fits perfect in the deck.
Let's keep this thread alive.
Here are my last nine matches (MTGO & last FNM)
0-2 vs U Tron
Chalice on 1 + Ugin got me
2-0 vs GB Spirit Brew
That deck tried to win through graveyard interaction and attrition but wasn't effective enough
2-0 vs Infect
I drew so much removal that my opponent begged for mercy
(Gideon on Inkmoth Nexus helped a lot)
1-2 vs Merfolk
Tight games, my opponent won one game with Islandwalk and another one with Master of Waves
He had several Dispels in the SB which were very good against me
2-1 vs UR Phoenix
First game my opponent destroyed me with Pyromancer Ascension even though my hand was almost perfect
Game 2 I destroyed him turn 4 and game 3 was very tight with a happy ending for me
2-1 vs Mono Green Tron
Young Pyromancer in play and Spell Pierce, Remand and Disdainful Stroke in hand on T2 in game 3 - that felt great
2-0 vs Pirates Aggro Brew
My opponent played a budget deck with lots of CMC1 pirates, cards that bring Pirates back from the GY and cards that create Treasure tokens to play Coat of Arms - felt like a good matchup for me
1-1-1 vs Eldrazi Aggro
That was so weird, just like last FNM, another 1-1-1 against another opponent playing Serum Powder Eldrazi Aggro. Young Pyromancer really helps a lot in this matchup. Chalice on 1 is difficult to beat, but Geist and tokens plus Jeskai Charm can even race Reality Smashers
(My opponent's TKS exiled Elspeth from my hand during 2 games, otherwise I am sure that I would have won)
0-2 vs Whir Prison
During these two games I had no chance to win, no chance at all. Chalice on 1, Chalice on 2, Ensnaring Bridge + Bottled Cloister, Sorcerous Spyglass on Gideon, Witchbane Orb and last but not least Welding Jar and Spellskite to protect all pieces. This deck is so insanely strong. It had the highest win percentage at the last GPs. Without designated SB cards like Shatterstorm my deck can't beat them. They only loose against Control so we should pray that people don't stop playing control...
Wow, still not confirmed, but this is the first card from the new set that will go in my deck!
Gideon Blackblade
1WW
Legendary Planeswalker - Gideon
Mythic Rare
As long as it's your turn, Gideon Blackblade is a 4/4 Human Soldier with Indestructible that's still a planeswalker.
Prevent all damage that would be dealt to Gideon Blackblade during your turn.
+1 Up to one target creature you control gains your choice of vigilance, lifelink, or indestructible until end of turn.
-6 Exile target nonland permanent.
(4)
3x Geist of Saint Traft, 1 Gideon of the Trials, 1 Gideon Blackblade, 1 Elspeth, Knight-Errant - so powerful! All PWs support Geist and the opponent will have a real hard time trying to remove these permanents.
I need to figure out which card to cut though...
Other PWs appeared as well as spoilers, and these are interesting for us:
Chandra, Fire Artisan
2RR
Legendary Planeswalker — Chandra
Rare
Whenever one more more loyalty counters are removed from Chandra, Fire Artisan, she deals that much damage to target opponent or planeswalker.
+1 Exile the top card of your library. You may play it this turn.
-7 Exile the top seven cards of your library. You may play them this turn.
{4}
She's insane if you ask me. She will always deal at least 5 damage because the opponent has to attack her. Otherwise she'll deal 7 damage when you activate her -7 ability! She could be really good in a burn heavy build.
Ral, Storm Conduit
2UR
Legendary Planeswalker — Ral
Rare
Whenever you cast or copy an instant or sorcery spell, Ral, Storm Conduit deals 1 damage to target opponent or planeswalker.
+2: Scry 1.
-2: Whenever you cast your next instant or sorcery spell this turn, copy it. You may choose new targets for the copy.
{4}
This one is not as exiting for us. UR Phoenix might want him though.

This is turning into a Jeskai Christmas wonderland

2x SB ?
That counter spell is PERFECT for our sideboard! I am definitely running at least one copy. If control picks up during the Whir Summer I will run two copies.
I agree with you on Chandra. I think she is being overlooked. She is super strong in a midrange matchup. She either keeps giving us cards or just keeps pinging the opponent. I love it.
I actually love Ral Zarek too! He fits perfectly in my extra turns deck. Not so much for this deck, but he is a really fun design.
Dovin's Veto seems quite dope I will play it for sure in my sideboard. I hope they would have something like Dovin's Strike 1 red 1 blue can't be countered deals 3 damage to anything.
I may be a fan of Chandra but I don't think she's worth replacing Torch of Defiance in my deck specifically. It could be because I am more of a Midrange/Geist player than a delver player though.
New Gideon seems AWESOME. However he might be too vulnerable to Path etc.
Also, the new Teferi could be worth sideboarding. If control wants to shut down our counterspells, why not be proactive and do it first?
"Smackcaster Mage" seems good for the Prowess versions of the deck for sure.
Haha! Like that. I also saw “Slapcaster Mage” :). I think you are right that it works in specific Prowess decks (I.e. like those I tend to build) rather than all Delver decks... but certainly worth testing.
Wow...that new 2-drop red Zombie (Dreadhorde Archanist) seems like it has the power level for our deck...I like it. What do we think?
You mean this guy?
I am sure that UR Wizards will love him and I can also see him in a glass cannon deck were he can cast pump spells again for free. Doesn't fit in my deck though.
I was not expecting this many cards that could possibly go in our deck. I thought we would have to wait until modern horizons for anything. This is a very exciting set. I think the best option so far for my deck are Chandra or Ral Zarek. I really like the two drop red guy, but he is a bit slow at a two drop for my deck. As others have said, if he could be in a more aggressive deck with Mutagenic Growth or something like that or something that gives haste he might work.
To be honest I am nost excited to get Dovin's Veto for the sideboard so far.
@Curdbros
Why are you excited for Chandra? She doesn't seem super great by my estimation. Sure, you land her and get to play stuff off the top, but she doesn't defend herself besides a retaliatory Reckoner sort of effect, and she only has one real relevant effect. Chandra, Torch of Defiance or even Pyromaster is probably a better Chandra Planeswalker for grinding than the new one. I have no idea if I am missing something, but it just doesn't seem strong enough.
I love how proactive the new chandra is at the top end of a deck and how consistent she will be when you cast her. She is either a good chunk of damage or a constant stream of card advantage (since she can play lands) or both. She "protects" herself by doing damage if the opponent attacks her. With torch of defiance you don't get the card advantage guarantee like you do with this one because she can't play lands off the top. You either get 2 damage or a card you can cast so it's harder to know how valuable she will be.
Torch of defiance is a more powerful walker by itself. If you just want value Torch of defiance is better. However for my deck the [mana]RR[/mana} isn't very valuable and the -4 ability to deal damage to a creature isn't relevant to me either. For me personally I would rather have the damage and the card advantage. This is based on my personal deck and playstyle though. Torch of Defiance is an objectively more powerful card when comparing the two.
You all know how much I love Chandra, Pyromaster. She is my favorite for an aggro style deck because she can do damage, removes a blocker, and can get card advantage. She is still very near and dear to my heart. The new chandra is very similar to Chandra Pyromaster in play for my deck actually. The only difference is that I get to +1 for card advantage.
My main use for a 4 CMC planeswalker is for a sideboard card for grindy matchup. I am going to test all three chandra's and also Saheeli Rai and the new Saheeli Rai (when spoiled) to see which one I like best. Right now I don't have any in the board, but if GBx pickup in the meta I want to know which one fits my deck best. I say all of this without testing it at all so I could be way off base.
Why though curdbros? Dovin's Veto is quite good isn't it even the mana isn't a problem for our deck? So what is the issue?
I can see why you are confused. I had a typo and typed "nost". I should say I am "most" excited about Dovin's Veto. I didn't edit the prior post so people know why you were confused and that I screwed up. But in reality it is the card I am most excited about for our deck so far and is my favorite card spoiled so far.
