At the moment, Splinter-Twin is the only really bad match up, in my experience.
It's very good versus control decks, due to the reach of Valakut + mountains, and the ability to go off at the end of their turn (or try to), then untap, and try again.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
Noob question: Is there any reason to run Unravel the Aether over Naturalize? Also has anyone ever tried running Guttural Response? I may start it in SB for all the T cruises.
We had another small FNM; I'm guessing because of the holidays at 20 people. I had an embarrassing performance.
Round 1 vs. BR Discard. This was the same deck from the week before and I think I was a bit overconfident. Even with a slow hand the fact that he was drawing a lot of Burning Inquiry and Reforge the Soul, I felt all right. And I was, until in the end, I discarded a land to give him 6 Black mana due to 3 Waste Not and he did exactly lethal with 3 Liliana's Caress with 0 cards left in his library. The 2nd game had me ramp pretty slowly because I kept a 1 land, Search X 2, Farseek X 2, and other cards hand. Eventually I had 3 Valakut in play and needed to draw a Mountain. He dropped a Nyxathid, which was 7/7 because of 0 card in hand for me. I was at a high life total from Raven's Crime twice on Obstinate Baloths. I draw 3 Through the Breach in a row and play them when he tries to get me to discard so that I don't trigger his triple Waste Not. Then I draw Summoning Trap, which I do for Emrakul, since there is no Sakura Tribe Elder for lethal. He topdecks Lightning Bolt for lethal and it's over. He said that he sided out some Bolts, but he kept at least that one for sure. The first game was a pretty bad punt. 0-2.
Round 2 vs. Bye.
Round 3 vs. Mono White Death and Taxes. There really wasn't much to see here. I drew too slowly and he aggroed me despite his draw not being too fast. Mirran Crusader and Sword of Light and Shadow closed it out quickly. In the 2nd game, I played 2 Angers, which I probably didn't need because I had a quick hand with Prime Time. In the final game, I kept a hand with Anger, Through the Breach, Emrakul, Farseek, Search, and 2 Red lands. I fail to draw a single land during a long game where I got beat down by a Kor Firewalker. The punt was keeping the hand, which I've had a lot of these hands recently. When I mull like I should, there was always a Green source on top and when I didn't (this was the 2nd time) I failed to draw a single land. Embarrassing. 1-2.
Round 4 vs. Mono White Aggro. He killed me on turn 4 as I made a mistake of not playing Obstinate Baloth, instead trying to ramp to a Prime Time next turn. In the next game, Angers rip his board and I draw something decent. In the final game, I ramped like crazy, but drew nothing good. I did draw 2 Emrakul (which I had sided out 1), but only had those and 2 Mountain in hand when I lost. 1-2.
I dropped, but I guess they didn't see the mark, so I lost the last round to somebody. I finish 1-4 or basically 0-3 in the matches that I played. This was the first time I've ever had the Bye and I was pretty bored. I almost left (and probably should have) at that time.

I played at a TNM today. The prizes are based on the record (2-1. 2-0-1, or 3-0).
Round 1 vs. BW Tokens. This guy is a Standard player who has been trying to get into Modern. He is pretty good in Standard, but doesn't quite play the decks that get there in Modern. His first play was turn 1 Inquisition of Kozilek. He saw 5 land, Through the Breach, and Summoning Trap. In the first game, I play an Anger after I get him to commit a few more tokens. Then I go off with a turn 5 Through the Breach/Primeval Titan with another Primeval Titan in hand. In the 2nd game, he has a Spellskite, which prevents me from killing his last token with a Fetchland that I have with 1 Valakut. I have 2 useless Through the Breach in hand. He draws a Zealous Persecution and attacks with his 3/3 token (2 Intangible Virtue) and the Spellskite for exactly lethal at 5 damage. In the final game, he gets stuck on 2 White sources. I am tempted to do a Chalice of the Void for 1 to stop discard, but take the chance in ramping with Farseek instead. It pays off when he doesn't draw the Black source and I do Through the Breach/Emrakul. He scoops. He showed me discard and Path to Exile in hand. 2-1.
Round 2 vs. Mono Green Devotion. In the first game, he misses his 2nd land drop after an Arbor Elf and Utopia Sprawl. He gets it on turn 3 into Garruk, the Primeval Titans and millions of lands after that. After he got a bunch of stuff out, I draw and play Anger of the Gods. It was a turn late as I missed 2 lands drops to play a Through the Breach/Emrakul. I lose to a hardcast Emrakul after 2 Titans hit play. In the 2nd game, I get a Through the Breach/Prime Time and finish him off with Valakut triggers the turn after he dropped double Prime Time himself. In the final game, he once again got 2 Titans. I Summoning Trap into Emrakul and block a lethal one (he did Kessig Wolf Run early). Then I use 2 Valakut triggers to kill the next one next turn. I kill him with Valakut triggers the next turn when he draws just a Wall of Roots. 2-1.
Round 3 vs. URw Splinter Twin. This guy is a real brewer and has been doing pretty well recently. In the first game, he does a Pestermite after I Through the Breach/Emrakul I Anger of the Gods the Pestermite and a Geist of Saint Traft, but he has an EoT Deceiver Exarch to add to the other and I only have 2 triggers from a fetchland to kill one of them when he attempts to tap it. He untaps and plays Splinter Twin. In the 2nd game, I get enough triggers from a Valakut after Prime Time resolves and is Path to Exile'd. In the final game, he mulls to 5 on the play. Still, it didn't stop him from turn 3 Deceiver Exarch. Untap and draw a fetchland for the 2nd Red source and play Splinter Twin. Not much I can do other than bluff. Not sure it would work though or how long it would work for me to draw my only Combust. 1-2.
I finish 2-1. We split the prize, but played for Invitational Points at our store, which I wanted since he was at 102 and I'm at 32. It didn't go my way.

Played at FNM. I think there were only 15 players or so.
Round 1 vs. Merfolk. The first game, I did a turn 3 Anger of the Gods. Basically I did 2 Search for Tomorrow into Prime Time, which he couldn't answer other than Vapor Snag. The next game, I kept without ramp and he got double Aether Vial. In the final game, it started slowly, but I finished with 2 Prime Time and a Through the Breach/Emrakul. I used a Prime Time to kill his Tidebinder Mage on my other one. He had done 2 Spreading Seas on Valakuts, so I couldn't just kill him. Then I top decked Emrakul to easily win, although he was at 20 when I swung. 2-1.
Round 2 vs. Erayo Affinity. Game 1 on the play for him, he did turn 2 Erayo, Soratami Ascendant, Gitaxian Probe, Memnite, Memnite. The following turn, he played Ethersworn Canonist and I couldn't get up Valakut and 5 Mountain in time. The next game was similar except I mulliganed a hand with 3 Emrakul (I had sided 1 out), then I kept and drew 3 Emrakul. Meanwhile he did turn 3 Erayo and flip, then turn 4 Ethersworn Canonist. In this game, I was 1 turn from getting Valakut active, but missed out on having an opening Chalice of the Void. I just kept the 6 because it seemed like I was going to have Emrakul no matter what and I felt it was a mistake of mine not to side out 2 (I wanted to keep creature density in case Summoning Trap missed). 0-2.
Round 3, Bye. I guess the guy who was going to play me dropped.
Round 4 vs. Junk. This guy was borrowing the deck from someone. He usually plays Angel Pod. The only reason why I knew he was on Junk was because I watched a game of his earlier in the tournament. There's not much to say here since I've had good luck against this guy. He didn't play anything until turn 3. I think I didn't either, but he had no answer to Prime Time. In the 2nd game, it was similar, although he did have Slaughter Pact for my Prime Time. This left me with hardly anything in hand, but I topdecked an Emrakul when I had 2 Through the Breach in hand. This knocked him to 3 life and he realized and told me that he made a mistake of attacking with a Treetop Village to join his Kitchen Finks instead of deploying a Batterskull. Then he wouldn't have lost all of his permanents since Batterskull has 2 permanents that come with it. 2-0.
I finish 3-1. It was disappointingly a small tournament and I honestly feel like playing Standard some times. Then I remember how much I dislike it.

Haven't post in awhile, but I have been playing a lot. I have taken down several Modern FNM's and a couple Top 8's in larger local events of at least 40+ Deck has been consistant. I dropped to 25 lands which has helped without flooding out. I also added a 1 of Summoner's Pact for the turn i need prime time or a baloth to help extend games against aggressive decks. I also have posted some results online(usually 3-1) but for some reason they never post. Client says i went 2-1 and somehow forgets my first game. I will try to post results later on the Decks I faced, but they were all usually Pod or some form of delver deck.

Can I ask what lead to the cutting of the Chalices? It seems to be a major strength of the deck to not be running any CMC 1 cards and being able to drop a chalice on 1
i tried them out and they are always too slow. yes there good when u land it, but other then that they have been meh. If anything they should be in side board. I feel this deck will be much stronger post Jan 19th.
I played this at a 28 person FNM. I finished 3-2, for 7th place.
Round 1 vs. Esper Control. I tried to remember what this guy was playing from a month ago, which was the only time I saw him play here. I thought he was on Ad Nauseum, but Esper Control was going to be easier. In the first game, I do an EoT Through the Breach, which is countered, but leaves him open to Through the Breach, Emrakul on my turn, which he didn't have the Spell Pierce for. In the 2nd game, he just didn't have much and was forced to Path to Exile a Primeval Titan that resolved and got 2 Valakut. I had just drawn and played a Valakut for the turn too, so I played Mountain and then drew Sakura Tribe-Elder next turn. 2-0.
Round 2 vs. Affinity. This guy has done pretty well vs. me at 2-1. He also won our store Invitational, which can get pretty competitive. In the first game, he mulls to 5. He is forced to double Memnite and Signal Pest. I ramp to Anger of the Gods, but he got an Arcbound Ravager the turn before. He goes all in on an Inkmoth Nexus, but I have Through the Breach/Emrakul for him. We both mulled to 6 in the next game, but I didn't have much, losing to 6 cards on the field on turn 1 and Steel Overseer on turn 2. By the time I tried to stabilize, I did Through the Breach/Emrakul to knock him to 5 life. He kept Ornithopter, Steel Overseer, and Signal Pest with 2 counters each and me at 4 life. In the final game, he put pressure on me, but I topdecked the card that would allow me to kill him; Valakut the Molten Pinnacle. I play it, then cast Sakura Tribe-Elder, and cast the Bloodstained Mire for exactly 18 damage with 3 total Valakut in play. He had Mark of Asylum out, so it was really my only out. 2-1.
Round 3 vs. Scapeshift. In the first game, I played 3 Obstinate Baloth, but missed a land drop, but he didn't have Scapeshift on 8 land. I get there with these, as he couldn't find Scapeshift. In the 2nd game, I kept a hand with turn 1 Search, turn 2 ramp, and some hate cards that cost 4. My Search gets Remanded, and then he gets out Tamiyo, the Moon Sage. He locks down my 4th land, leaving me only with 3 land. I get stuck with 2 Sowing Salt, 1 Slaughter Games, 1 Boil, and some other cards in hand. In the 3rd game, I punt badly. I keep a 3 land, 1 ramp, and 3 spell hand. I get stuck on 4 land for a while, him doing Remands and Cryptics. I make a huge mistake of being greedy when he had exactly 2 mana up. I tried Search for Tomorrow into Farseek, but he Remanded the Search and I couldn't cast and then recast Farseek, which I needed to do to get Blood Crypt for the Slaughter Games that was in my hand. He did Scapeshift calmly on his turn 5 and it was over. 1-2.
Round 4 vs. Esper Mill. There was not much to see here. In the first game, he just can't beat Emrakul, the Aeons Torn's shuffle effect. Also he did a turn 2 Remand on my Sakura Tribe-Elder and I found Prime Time for double Valakut. In the 2nd game, I had an early Through the Breach/Emrakul in my hand, but I try to play around Surgical Extraction and Extirpate, but he ended up not having either. I annihilate all of his permanents after a Boil got 2 Watery Graves. Then I cast an Obstinate Baloth next turn and swing for game the turn after. 2-0.
Round 5 vs. URw Twin. This guy plays Twin with Geist of Saint Traft and has been slowly adding more and more White cards. In the first game, he gets me with Path to Exile immediately on my Prime Titan, then Geist of Saint Traft into Lightning Bolt, Snapcaster Mage/Lightning Bolt. He also had Pestermite earlier for my Emrakul, which is such a beating. In the 2nd game, I keep all ramp. I naturally have Valakut and between it and 2 Anger of the Gods, I kill 3 Pestermite and a Deceiver Exarch. It didn't matter because after the last one, he got Geist of Saint Traft. I did Prime Time for triple Valakut, then played a Mountain from hand to drop him to 7 life. I need a Mountain next turn to win. Instead he does Dig Through Time with 1 card left in hand after that. He has enough mana to Pestermite my Prime Time, then Lightning Bolt, Snapcaster Mage/Lightning Bolt. 0-2.
I finish 3-2, which was pretty disappointing. However as a consolation prize, we split the cash in the final round for 2nd place. I had previously beaten this guy 11 times in a row until he beat me the last time we played. Part of the reason is that he always did Esper Control or extreme Control decks and I have played a lot of decks that just walk over Control. The guy who beat me with Scapeshift in Round 3 got 1st place at 4-0-1. Pretty disappointing punt for me because I could have played it safely, but I got greedy, trying to double ramp in the same turn.

I came in here to mention that there is a list that is currently undefeated at the Grand Prix, but I see someone beat me to it.
I think the Chalices may be in the sideboard. That's how I do it at least, unless you really feel like you will see that much Delver. People at my LGS occasionally don't know what's in the list, but they're starting to learn from watching and playing me. Many still ask what the deck is called. I tell them RG BReach or RG Trap.

I Like the name Prime time for spaghetti, but hey that's just me. They're calling it spaghetti and meatballs on the live feed but meh I don't like that name.
Scapeshift wins on 7 lands while Trap wins on 6, but you need to attack with the Trapped guy so speed-wise they're roughly the same. Trap can whiff. On the other hand Trap can ambush their attacker, and coming down one turn earlier means your opponent has one less turn to draw discard for it, AND you do not need to hit your 7th land beforehand. I still prefer Trap over Scapeshift.
Courser is new. It gives you CA and costs less than Solemn Simulacrum. It does cost double green, which can get awkward since getting both Forests means that you need to work harder before Valakut comes online. I think of him as a slightly smaller Baloth that you can sometimes cast on turn 3 if you missed a land drop/ramp spell.
Krosan Grip seems like it's there for UWR Jeskai Ascendancy. They have an enchantment worth protecting, and the counterspells to protect it.
I recently built Bogaards GP Madrid list. I was on the fence about courser , it made sense as far as card advantage and draw manipulation, especially with the advantages of uncracked fetches If the game goes long. I decided against running her this week on the basis that it was my first time playing this deck locally and the element of surprise was relevant. But besides that I have been convinced , there was a play in which Scott Lipp had a courser on the field at 6 mana , and a summoning trap and titan in hand and was able to see that he had a titan on top of library and was able to summoning trap knowing he wouldnt whiff and retain the titan in his hand. Seemed strong haha
The hardest matchup I have played yet with this deck was Scapeshift , due to the seemingly endless countermagic. I am not sure if I was a victim of variance , but each time I cast a creature it was countered , an then upon casting summoning trap for 0 , the trap was also countered. Made me wish I was packing a few Guttural Response. Any play advice on this matchup guys ?

That was boarded in and not drawn , didn't mull to find it either. Will be playtesting the matchup more for sure . What matchups do you guys find most difficult ?
anyone tried greater good in this deck? it provide us with draw.also, if without emrakul, will worldspine wurm suffice in the interim to make the deck playable?

Round 4 vs.

It seems to be a major strength of the deck to not be running any CMC 1 cards and being able to drop a chalice on 1

I would love to see the list, it seems to be running no Chalices.
I am loving the deck.

Big Johnny.
