We all know how three Oblivion Ring can weave each other in and out of exile endlessly. There are also ways to make enchantments ETB in a loop with just one using creatures that exile This can be used to power Ajani's Chosen, Grim Guardian and Underworld Coinsmith. It's not as definitive as Splinter Twin but it does create more of a permanent problem and the pieces are more versatile. Here it is:
Any room for Sin Collector or Tidehollow Sculler in there? They seem like a natural fit for the deck, and will improve your combo and control matchups.
Those two cards are good but you should really be running 6 or more 1 CMC discards. You really need to be thinking about your top decks. I'm not sure that a full playset of Ajani's Chosen is going to get you anywhere. Gideon Jura and Liliana Vess are very expensive options you could look at. Both of them are meaty and can help with combo just like your 1 CMC discards. Those added with all the removal means you really can just durdle around until you can go infinite with an enchantment. Coinsmith and Guardian are decent on their own, I feel they aren't good enough for Modern without a shell like this so I'm still hesitant to agree that a playset of each is viable. If you've gold fished this thing enough times you should know the proper number of combo enablers to include.
Do remember that the GP winner was Burn. How will you face that players particular decklist?
I like the input! Brain Maggot is like Tidehollow Sculler and as an enchantment it would fit in just fine. Leyline of Sanctity would go in SB for burn and I would assume Runed Halo might help. Wall of Shards would work well in SB as well. I don't think it is strong enough to really be competitive on a high level, but in a multiplayer format it might shine. I haven't even done playtesting yet: it's just a combo I wanted to put out there. I have most of the cards but all my magic money is going into finishing this modern deck first:
I can dig it. Thing is, this is a good deck. Your main combo pieces are never dead because they're removal! It's getting the Theros creatures to stay on the field that will be tough. I definitely think this is a fabulous deck worthy of tinkering effort. Mock up 1-3 lists and run them against any given tournament's top 8 as a best of 3, develop your sideboard throughout.
I was under the impression that Banishing Light can't be used in an endless combo? Can someone explain the combo better?
I'm not 100% sure if Banishing Light can be used, since it is a fixed Oblivion Ring, but it can be done with the O-ring. If you have 3 of them you can target in a 'triangle' and each will exile the next when entering the battlefield, then they will keep going forever.
The same is kinda true for my comment above. Banisher Priest is a fixed Fiend Hunter. Since the wording on Fiend Hunter is in two parts, you can 'flicker' him with his first part on the stack so it will exile a creature. Then since when he re-enters the battlefield he's not the same creature that the first ability was attached to, the exiled creature will be gone for ever. You will also get his normal effect when he comes into play again.

Banishing Light can be used for an unbounded combo as described in the original post. What they changed with that card compared to Oblivion Ring is that you can't remove the enchantment while its ability is on the stack in order to permanently remove the target. If Banishing Light isn't on the battlefield when its ability resolves, the target will not be exiled at all.

You are right: I totally didn't think about that it can only target opponents' stuff: the same goes for Banisher Priest. I feel really silly. This did come to me late at night. The endless combo can go off other ways, but that does weaken it greatly. I will rework this and post a new list.
This should be in the Budget Deck Creation section.
I totally disagree. This is a combo deck that the author isn't putting budget considerations on. The pieces are in and of themselves playable.
This is my answer to everything in Modern, but think about adding a Thoughtseize, Inquisition of Kozilek package to the deck. You already are considering a black splash and it slows down your opponent just enough often to give you time to combo off.
I think you can also loop two oblivion rings and a relic-warder for a loop as well. I think just for a blowout play you should include a single copy of open the vaults.
Also a really good meta hate card that works against almost every deck is suppression field. It locks people out of fetches and tons of other stuff, giving you time to stabilize.

Okay so I was brainstorming and gold fishing yesterday and I'm happy with how this thing looks for now.
The sideboard is mostly Janky but reasonably demonstrative
Deck: tess.dec
So it's got:
9 discard effects
16 spot removal effects
3 Ghost Quarters
1 very very complicated combo
I put in the Tutor and the Transmute to find ORing and Leonin respectively. Since the Leonin is necessary for all but one of the combo chains I think it'd be safe to include some other forms of tutor. Instead of going with Bob I've opted for Vial because if this combo is going to go off early then it needs ramp, which BW is lacking. I'm sure Jund top decks better than this thing but I still don't feel pushed into going after CA. It will probably play a lot like WWeenie when it can't find combo.
Is Mesa Enchantress worth running? I would like to add some card draw. Maybe Phyrexian Arena?
Lapse of Certainty is a sideboard card, Silence is inherently better main because of its lower casting cost. We want to be casting spells in one of our main phases every turn. Thoughtseize and Inquisition play similar roles in taking out pieces that our oblivion rings can't. But they cost only one mana and can be cast on our turn.
I noticed some people had suppression field in their side. There is a better one. Two mana and exiles any creature oftil it leaves I can't remember the name though.
It seems to me this should include Dark Confidant and Altar of the Brood and aim to be fast w/ discard to interact. I don't like Leonin Relic Hunter since it's basically a more vulnerable version of ORing but I guess it does have a cheaper CMC and doesn't require you to spend a turn tutoring. That said it seems to me that our win could be quite fast even as a 3-piece combo, so why aren't we going all in on it? 4 Tutors, 4 ORings, 4 Leonin-Relic Hunters, 4 Altar of the Broods, and 4 Underworld Coinsmith. A super low CMC means Dark Confidant is playable and then you have some things like Inquisition of Kozilek and Thoughtseize for interaction. If there's any room leftover after that, I would definitely consider some Simian Spirit Guides. Most decks I play have them and that's because they turn a fair turn 4 or 5 win into a really tough turn 3 win. Just a shame they don't produce white.

Also worth considering is Orzhov Basilica, it combines nicely with Temple of Silence to scry through your deck. Maybe you would be able to add something like Obzedat, Ghost Council or Ghost Council of Orzhova in there.

Not only that, you can do it with LRW exiled by Fiend Hunter exiled by Oblivion Ring OR Journey to Nowhere.
Still say make room for 6-8 1cmc discards.
Flicker list put in OP. Make your own version of this list and post it: This deck could also use Dark Confidant with all the low CMC cards.
