Yes, that's definitely a good point. I didn't think of karametras favor. Good point about the aura vs nonaura. Also, with rites, if you get a second weird out, you don't need another aura to make it produce mana. I still think that mantle is the best card as it only costs 1 mama to equip, but if you splash green, rites could definitely be in the sideboard.
Just finished 100 goldfishes with my version of the deck, and it's surprisingly consistent.
35% of the time was a turn 2 win
24% of the time turn 3
22% on turn 4
13% on turn 5
And 7% chance of winning on turn 6+.
I've started running 4 postmortem lunges mainboard and it seems REALLY strong. Using it, you can reanimate a killed blistercoil weird, which helps in our bad matchups. Also, it makes it so that we can use thought scours to find our blistercoil weirds. We can also use it during the combo turn to get in extra damage. With it, I've also started running 1 storm entity in the main and some others in the side.
Hey storm crow me again from the storm post. I see it saids you can't afford fetches yet but don't buy em for this deck all you need is 4x shivan reef just saying
Nice to see more people replying to this thread!
theDeckTech-hey. Yeah right now the mana base is working fine for me, but if I start getting color-screwed then I'll do that. The thing about fetches with this deck is that the minimal deck-thinning that they do is actually pretty important, as it makes you less likely to brick the combo. I don't think that they're important enough to start running evolving wilds/terramorphic expanse, but they're still very good in this deck. The optimal mana base for my version of the deck right now would be 1 steam vents, 3 islands, and 8 blue-x fetches.
Yes I agree that more creatures seems good, but I don't think that it's good enough to start playing 3-drop creatures like electrode and zephyr scribe (in the main board at least). I'm testing thermo-alchemist to find the right number to balance finding a creature (or 2) and having enough cantrips to not brick the combo. This is especially important in non-fetchland man abases like mine
Ido play faithless looting for precisely that reason, and it's very good. I wouldn't play magmatic insight, though, because it's so narrow. Of course, when it's good, it's very good, but when its bad its terrible. It has a moderately high ceiling, but a very low floor. I would only play it in a version playing more lands. I also do like cryptolith rite, but I wouldn't play 4. Maybe 2? What do you think?
I Wouldn't run 4 cryptolith rites and 3 thermo-alchemists. That adds another 7 cards to brick the combo, which brings your number of spells that brick it up to 30 in the main, which I feel is too many. Also, I think that you should have more thermo-alchemists than cryptolith rites because cryptolith rite is harder to remove and does nothing in multiples, unlike thermo-alchemist. How is noxious revival working for you?
Also, everyone who still needs serum visions like me should get them now because they were reprinted in conspiracy 2 as an uncommon, and only costs like 2$.
