I am taking this list to my LGS tonight for Star City Game night for the first time. I have only been playing the deck on MTGO so its gonna be a learning curve with all the decks triggers. Hopefully it will go well! http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/azorius-turbo-fog-3/
I will try to take notes have a give a full report tonight after.
Good luck and looking forward to the results. As far as tron... I'very even considered splashing some kind of red duel and running crumbling dust but idk if it's really worth it. Tron will be the big deck but it does lose to the other big decks to come. Burn, infect, and affinity. I think our sideboard needs to literally be only against tron and burn. But what arelse the best cards that work against those decks? Or what are the best cards that work against both of those decks? Counters obviously and runed halo. LoS to some degree works against tron as well as burn. What else can we pack in the sb that works to help both those mu's but uses the least amount of cards? And I need to make room for another artifact/enchantment hate card. Lol. My list I plan to take to the next big event is:
Last time I played at the shop there were a lot of people playing creature decks. Infect, Naya Blitz, Goblins, Merfolk. I hope that is the case tonight. I dont want to run into scapeshift or ad nauseum
Well against ad nauseum, idk their sb very well but MD they only have a few pacts to counter Leyline and that's it that I know of. If you stick it g1, they can't win. G2/3 may be different based on their sb. Valakut... if you're the one who has the ghost quarters, you might be alright but otherwise you could easily mill away enough mountains that make it unable to kill you without bolts. And g1 is probably an auto win with Leyline as well bc unless they hit cryptic, which I may be mistaken that they run, they don't have an answer main board to win. Countering their way of removing LoS games 2/3 seems essential
I own Ad Nauseam. Game 2 majority of deck will go for the Lab Maniac win from the board when faced with multiple Halo/leylines/suppresion fields[ which hits the activated ability of L.S.), and 1-2 echoing truth (list dependent). If they get Milled, Nevermored or countered (N.B. negate won't cut it v Maniac) then Leyline will be enough.

People with belligerent signatures are trying to compensate for something....
Well.... our 5 worst mu's. I think u/x/x control now that they have visions. Tron. Burn. Thopter control. And idk how well lantern control would be against us....
I'm hoping to play at states on the 23rd and 24th. Looking forward to my first big event in awhile. Anyone else from TX?
I will go for RiP.. If you don't have it in your opening hand Leyline of the Void RiP is just better.. and not everyone can play esper fog.. Can have its place in esper though .. Void would be such a bad top deck to have though because you could lose so much tempo playing it
Not rly... you lose a lot by playing RiP bc it's both Graves. If I'm playing it, it doesn't matter when I play it.... it's just in sb against emmy if I mill it. A) stops them from reshuffling B) exiles emmy
It also would be nice against storm, snapcasters, living end etc.
Yes RiP does the same thing but it hits us too and I don't really like when I can't reshuffle my fogs back in. The only card we have that avoids RiP is elixir bc it never actually hits the grave
I finally got a chance to play at my LGS with the list. Ran into burn and grixis control. It was a 3 round night. I got one bye. It was kinda frustrating but I felt like I had a real shot against the grixis. He was not prepared for the Elspeth in game 2 and pretty much scooped it up after it resolved. Burn felt rough as soon as eidolon hit the board. I'm hoping to get a few more nights in before States on Sunday
I've found that it is. I want to add 1 copy of ulamog the infinite gyre for additional shuffling outside of elixir. Look at it this way... you run 15-20 fogs. Your percentage of drawing one when you run out of them is less likely later in the game. If you shuffle them back in, you reset your percentage. It's much higher now because you've played lands, played mines, and what not that don't get shuffled back in. Mostly important in the longer grindyer match ups like control or if they destroy our wincons, we can shuffle them back in or if they counter/destroy our turbo pieces. Just extra insurance to male sure we keep fogging and don't just rely on the draw so much
I will be taking notes this weekend and I will write up a full report. I'm hoping that there will be a lot of creature based decks. Would be good to dodge some of the rougher matchups
The problem is the deck that was keeping our rough matchups held back is now banned because eye is now gone. It is still playable with tron but it's not the same as it was. Eldrazi was why Tron stopped playing as much and why burn dropped and the only Decks that seem to be good against eldrazi were infect affinity and Lantern control.
I know there are a lot of affinity and infect players in my area. I also see goblins, zoo, and merfolk often. I was super unlucky last day in my matchups.
So, I decided to go Jeskai instead of Esper on my deck in order to play Fevered Visions, which IMO is the best card we could've asked for Turbo Fog as it works as both, a draw engine and a win condition, which is great as it gives us some more flex-slots as we don't have to play a card which doesn't do anything else than winning us the game (namely sphinx's tutelage/underworld dreams, or whatever you play there) .
Hear it is.
Basically it's 23 lands (manabase help needed! I suck at it!), 17 fogs, 12 draw engines (13 including mikokoro, center of the sea actually) and 8 flex spots.
My sb isn't really tuned up yet, i threw some swan songs and a dispel there which I'd swap for the more expensive fogs against control, crumble to dust for tron, and then the usual stuff. Supreme verdict is kinda pointless for me since we're supposed to prevent creatures from dealing damage, so I just changed it for another detention sphere.
If you're going to run visions, I still say you need ebony owl netsuke . Also... intimidation bolt is fun. Also... I'd cut 1 nevermore for 1 more crumble to dust. Tron will still be a thing and we can have problems with it so you will want to see one and having a miser copy won't do it if it's near the bottom. Also... yes we want to fog their creatures but wrath is the reset button in an emergency. You run out of fogs or they counter the 3 you have then what? Verdict is uncounted able and they have to waste their turn essentially doing nothing since their creatures will most likely not have haste. I'd never leave blue out of turbofog and that's strictly for 2 copies of verdict. I could care less about most of what blue offers outside of tutelage. But an uncounterable way to deal with their horde is just too nice. It buys us time. And if you run less fogs than say 16... sometimes you won't draw them if you don't reshuffle and the game goes on. Wrath will give you that extra turn to draw more since they may only play out 2 creatures that may not swing for much so you can just take the damage. Now against some decases they are obvious take outs. Tron is 1, boggles (they really only rely on 1 her proof creature to beat face), infect (same deal as bogles), combo decks, etc. But when it's good, it's good.
Hey, thanks for your answer Tyler. Let's see Ebony owl netsuke never made it for me here, I even cut it down on my owling mine build, where is sort of a key piece. As usual, I'm trying to optimize my stuff, using cards which can do "something else" than its primary function. The Owl doesn't do much when they get rid of your stuff or have enough mana to discard their hand. That's the reason why I play Jace Beleren for instance, or Celestial Colonnade, and more recently fevered visions they give an "extra" to my deck.
Doing that, I got a couple more flex-slots which eventually saved my ass, but that also slows the wincons a tad (milling with sphinx's tutelage is probably faster than dealing 2 damage a turn).
I'm changing 1 d-sphere for an oblivion ring as sometimes I just need to remove a d-sphere, hehe.
I'll think about supreme verdict at least as sb stuff, yesterday I had a bad time against control, even with 5 counter-counterspells on my sb.
I sorta need more sb tech for burn too, they got me 2-0 yesterday too. Didn't get my leyline g1, and he got rid of it g2. Needless to say more.
Against Tron I'm just giving up as I always need ALL my sb tech at ONCE to beat them (played lots of times against it and I NEVER won a single match), so I prefer to just skip that matchup and focus on beating some others I believe are more "doable". I'm probably changing my crumble to dust for burn sb tech such as Kor Firewalker, sanctimony or whatever. I'll certainly try intimidation bolt too! Curse of exhaustion seems to be fun too, 4 mana may be too late for sb tech sadly
Oh, and another reason why I left sphinx's tutelage aside is because being on xmage makes your meta unpredictable, and lots of players play weird stuff to cheat an emrakul into play (polymorph, through the breach, tooth and nail, possibilty storm, etc). So I just got tired of milling into an emrakul.
Also, remember red allows you to play burn stuff, which can give you a hand when facing those pain in the ass planeswalkers such as karn. Fevered visions hits planeswalkers too!!
I could try to get into a more aggro playstyle, including more wincons to try to do more damage ASAP. I'll probably include sudden impact/runeflare trap and ebony owl netsuke when that happens. But right now I'm just having fun with this build.
I don't run it because of the counter war. They counter my fog with dispel and I counter with cryptic... I'm out 4 mana and they are out 1. We lose the war on mana. I'd rather run a fog variant over it bc the fogs are 1-2 mana. We don't really need the draw from it bc our deck is designed to draw through the entire deck. Tapping down for 2 turns is nice but I can just fog it since that's what the deck is designed to do. And the bouncing a permanent might be nice if I was running ways to counter it when they played the spell again. That's my reason though.

Also red gives us access to real cool stuff such as crumble to dust, deflecting palm, lightning helix, land destruction, artifact hate, and even potential burn/wincons such as runeflare trap/sudden impact.
Right now I just included crumble to dust.

Yesterday I won 2-0 vs a polymorph deck. It felt awesome to throw a detention sphere at his emrakul, the aeons torn) g1 and then just laughing at his army of tokens while fevered visions sealed the deal. G2 I nevermored his Polymorph, I had 4 draw engines out, 2 fevered visions a temple bell and dictate of kruphix, he lately got rid of my nevermore with sundering growth EOT, casting emrakul, the aeons torn on his next turn. I didn't get no detention sphere and I was about to concede, but then I realized he was at 4 life so I kept playing. He swings with his army, annihilator triggers, I sac 5 lands and kruphix (casting riot control beforehand, which got me at 26 life), he plays more tokens and goes to 1 card in hand, both fevered visions trigger, I activate temple bell and GG.
I'm changing 1 d-sphere for an oblivion ring as sometimes I just need to remove a d-sphere, hehe.
