I've been brewing this nonsense of a deck on and off for months (I also played SF pretty heavily during its original time in Standard waaaaay back when). I started out on the Grixis path then and now, but lately I'm liking a Jeskai configuration. Cards are out of the house and I don't have the exact mana base memorized, but the gist of it is:
Sideboard varies wildly but usually contains:
2-3 Pithing Needle
0-1 Terminus
1-2 Anger of the Gods
Some number of situational counters
Sometimes 4 beaters to bring in when I really don't want to Fate
Keranos is my colours' version of Ashiok, Nightmare Keeper but I've found it to be much more resilient. Slower too, but I'm not built to windmill a T5 Fate so it's fine for that. I've also randomly won games with him (and Fate sitting my hand) more than a few times. I see a lot of aggro decks, which is why Wall/Skite are main. Condemn is ridiculously good for me because of that as well. The counters are the weak link, as with only 8 main it frequently happens that I'm a turn late in drawing one. Considering ditching them completely for more removal or shenanigans like Bronze Bombshell as yet another non-Fate wincon.
I've been following this thread for a couple months now and I've been slowly building a UW version of the deck.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on some cards I didn't see mentioned here:
-set adrift : this seems like a good answer to troublesome permanents post-fate and a good tool with ghost quarter as the shuffle effect is optional and could be a maindeck wincon. At worst, the card can exile everything you and your opponent have "drawn" resulting in a stalemate and at best it can finish the game via mill when their library is empty. The only danger is if they have some mandatory shuffle effect like surgical extraction to force it away.
-mystic speculation : this card seems worthy of at least 1 slot as it helps dig for fate, look for answers with spare mana, and then you can control your opponent's "draws" for the rest of the game.
-elixir of immortality : additional life gain against aggro, improves draw consistency, and if your opponent uses it, they shuffle all the cards they tried to kill you with back in for you to use while you only put the elixir in. Eventually the game gets to a point where elixir is the only card in your deck and the opponent will be trying to survive by gaining 5 life a turn while you can outrace them with their creatures they can't get rid of. It's also useful for recovering lost fates.
Right now I'm leaning towards a miracles build, but I also think an as foretold + restore balance shell could be really interesting too, especially with ancestral vision, though out of my budget at the moment.

-fragmentize : this deck needed something like this in the side board against things like bitterblossom or shrieking affliction
-porphyry nodes : a cheap albeit slow answer to hexproof that draws enchantment hate away from fate if they have something valuable on the field.
