No but the mana rocks seem to go against what you want to do if you're playing Remand. I look at Remand as a way to stall the opponent's turn 2/3 which effectively gives you Zur a turn faster.
The real issue is that this deck's gameplan isn't to accelerate Zur out as soon as possible. It's to put a protected Zur out as soon as possible, which rushing him out there early doesn't really do. Too many decks have ways to just blow him up if you throw him out there willy-nilly.
One of the merits i've noticed she has is vs abrupt decay decks. Sometimes you tutor up/cast a steel and can't get your geist through cus they blow it up. Whereas thassa + geist is a great way to swing with geist every turn and is incredibly difficult to break up.
Well, I am committed to this deck to play at GP Minneapolis. I'm in Afghanistan now, so I am going to lean on you guys to bounce ideas. I am inclined towards a mid-range approach with dedicated set of Leyline of The Void. I'm going to get some sleep but hopefully we can get something going!

I think this deck could be decently positioned at the moment. I would expect a potential continued rise in combo, and even scapeshift as well due to there being less hand disruption in the format now that jund/GB is on the decline. As such, your inquisitions and thought-seizes should be very strong. Leyline is good against pod, unfortunately you can't tutor it with Zur, but it would still be solid in the sideboard slot (the only negative being it would take up a total of four slots). Again, possibly worth it due to all of the pod, storm and goyfs running around these days.
The price may have just spiked which is no fun, but I think runed halo would be an outstanding include for this deck at the moment, maybe even as a one of main, with one side. It protects you against twin/kiki decks, ad nauseam, scapeshift, storm, decks that run a few big beaters, the list goes on. In very few match-ups would it be a completely dead card, and in most it demands an answer from the opponent.
I like Rest in Peace better than Leyline of the Void since it's easier to cast, fetchable with Zur, and not something you really need to mulligan into. There is some collateral damage with hitting our own Snapcaster Mages but generally that card can be sided out in these situations, as grinding out incremental card advantage isn't as necessary (Zur does this way better).
Runed Halo I've tried many times but never really liked. The problem with answers like this is they aren't as good as other removal, generally. While they are preemptive counters to whatever you might want to hit, you never ever want to be relying on it since so many decks have some way of killing or bouncing it (Abrupt Decay or Cryptic Command for "fair" decks, bounce spells for storm). At least Detention Sphere stops stuff from killing you immediately when answered (because it's summoning sick). If you have 3 Tarmogoyfs staring you down and they suddenly bounce this card, you're dead.
That and most decks have multiple ways of killing you, and naming any 1 isn't even going to slow them down as much as it slowed you down to play it.

I'd go with Rest in Peace instead of Leyline of the Void, as it is tutorable with Zur.
Of course guys, not sure how I missed RIP over leyline, that seems an obviously superior choice as it is cheap enough to cast early if you have it in the opener or draw it, but you aren't reliant on aggressively mulling into it in order to have it in your opener. Four slots is also lot for the SB (I feel leylines are an all or nothing thing). With RIP you can then run 1-2 main if you have space.
This thread seems to be pretty dead right now but I have picked up on Zur and been tweaking a list the last week or so. I like two of the BNG enchantment creatures. I have been playing both a couple Bitterblossom and some Lingering Souls. Together they can create a pretty huge Eidolon of countless Battles. Here's what I have right now. Thoughts?

How good would Brain Maggot be in this deck? It's targeted discard that Zur can search for, but man, that weak body...
It's Tidehollow Sculler, minus being artifact, losing a larger body, less mana intensive, and searchable via Zur.
Searchable via Zur is good.
Not being artifact is...ok I think, since it means not boosting Goyf as quickly.
Less mana intensive is nice. Though it doesn't play as nicely with Steel of the Godhead, whereas Sculler gets +1/+1 and Lifelink (Sculler sucks at holding Steel, but it's at least better than Maggot).
The 1/1 body is the real stinker and could easily hold it back. Unless we build with enchantment theme in mind. Idk, like enchantment creatures get +1/+1, Eidolon of Countless Battles, etc. Or something. Idk. Not sure if it replaces Sculler or not.
Also, does it play the way I think it plays? (Just like Sculler?) Or is it different? Cuz the card text is different compared to Sculler.
Reprints the one card that people point to when saying that art objectifies women.
Well done Wizards.
Liliana does not objectify women in any way at all. We have gotten to a point in our society that every single picture of a women must be objectifying a women in some negative way......blah blah blah.. That is not the case. (((Sarcasm)))Picture of a girl drinking a milk shake, must be sex related and putting women down, picture of girl sitting on a beach, picture of a girl driving a car, picture of a girl on the moon at a new space station.)))
You have a picture of an attractive strong power women who girls dress up as for anime conventions. What more do you want? The picture is fine, happy to see a reprint. Sick of of seeing people claim that everything in existence must be putting women down. Then all I have to do is replace the word "women" with anything else to get the same mentality; fish, cats, arabs, blacks, jews, men, environment, whites, chinese, old people, etc. It doesn't matter what word I put in. Stop sucking life out of everything man. That artwork of her is awesome. Stop putting stuff down man. Just stop. If the picture was really as negative as you claim she would totally nude, in a kitchen, making sandwiches and giving blow jobs. Her abilities would be horrible as well. +1 do nothing -2 do nothing -6 do nothing. Instead liliana of the veil is an amazing planeswalker comparable to jace, the mind sculpter with great art to appreciate.
My suggestion listen to some comedy radio for a while, pandora is free, youtube is free there is something out there for you. ***** go make fun of somebody. The whole world is so serious and campaigning for some cause, or someones rights, everything is a hate crime, racist, sexist. blah blah blah.
"O no mcdonalds must be slandering a hate crime against skinny people every time they make a big mac." hahaha jeeze You're just someone perpetuating another groups negative perspective that they've made you believe is correct. Look at the picture for a hour and tell me what's wrong with it? I don't see anything.
I have heard vague rumors of a moustache-dispensing vending machine in a distant laundromat, across the street from a tattoo parlor. However, this information is shaky, and time is of the essence.
It plays the same. They just simplified the wording some. I think the 1/1 body is negligible when you really look at it. Tidehollow is 2/2 and still dies to anything relevant. You aren't going to beatdown with Tidehollow just like you won't with Brain Maggot.
Athreos looks like it would work perfectly at first glance but I feel like when you think about it more it is win more. We will rarely if ever have the devotion to turn it on and the amount of creatures played in Zur is not enough to get consistent value. People will gladly pay 3 life to keep you from getting a Geist back so you aren't just going to rambo him into stuff because you will lose it. Athreos doesn't change that. Thassa has a more Geist friendly ability and even she is tough to talk yourself into grabbing over other options. I took her out of my deck because I never took her out unless I drew it naturally. Athreos seems like a card that will shine with a true deck built around it but just jamming it into any deck that plays BW and a few creatures doesn't work. With that said, as a 1 of you could do worse.

With the MTGO daily criteria shifting from 6+ dailies to 12+ dailies, it is harder for decks to get into Established based solely on their MTGO performance. Zur had only 1 daily finish since the last B&R update, so for now it's heading back down to Creation.
Wouldn't Clout of the Dominus be really good in a Zur Deck? It grant's +1/+1 and Shroud for U mana. I think it would be nice to have a way to make Zur untargetable? The +1/+1 is probably more relevant than Shielding Plax. That doesn't have to be true. But having a way to keep Zur in play multiple turns is really nice and often you have a turn window to cast him. Is that not played because without haste, your opponent always has a full turn to answer him?

Drawing a card matters much more than +1/+1 does.
I'm not sure either are that great honestly. I can't imagine a situation where I'd search for either with Zur.

I agree. But if you are going to run one of those, I'd run Plax.
This is my current build of Zur I use here and there at locals. I like the Sculler build more.
How is this working for you? I have been in love with Zur ever since I saw this deck come up back in October, but my friend talked me out of making the deck, I would probably build this for MTGO at first then try to make it in paper if I enjoy it.

I really enjoy it. Usually my go to deck for winning and having fun. I still need to pick up a Clique or two though for it.
Any reason you aren't running the meddling mages or snaps?
I find the Scullers to more proactive than Meddling Mages. Being able to see my opponent's hand allows for better ideas of what to play around. So a turn 1 Thoughtseize then Turn 2 Sculler really can be devastating.
Snapcasters are really good, but room is an issue for me. I can drop a Far//Away for one, as one of them is taking a current flex spot I debate about, but I'm okay with the list as is. I currently deal with some G/W Bogles so the extra Edict effect is good to have.
