What about Five-Alarm Fire in deck? looks like it could work here.
It is a little too long-game. I am not sure that the deck is going to last THAT long while still having creatures that get damage through. You will either win outright with those creatures, or they will be removed.
What is the purpose of playing Chandra? and Legion's Initiative?
Rogue got it right:
Chandra: First and foremost it is pseudo-CA in a color that lacks card advantage almost entirely. It also can get damage through if we are in beatdown mode, and if you decide to try Chandra's Phoenix she will enable that as well.
Legion: Flicker...that is why I added it because it expands the scope and potential of Fanatic and, if you side it in, Purphoros. That said, it has stayed in because it is almost never a dead-draw because of pump and possibly avoiding sweep (which is a huge weakness for the deck).
It would seem that Figure of Destiny is the sort of one mana creature this deck would want. The Figure is more valuable in the late game than, say, Goblin Guide.
First, I am not convinced I want to waste slots on any one-drop permanent that is not Vial due to wanting to concentrate my devotion potential. Figure is a huge mana-sink that does not help my end-game at all. So far the only one-drops I have given any weight to considering are Wild Cantor and Grim Lavamancer, and I have not even made that plunge.
I edited the OP, but here are my most recent changes:
After testing for a while I just never had the spare land to do anything with Seismic Assault- it was just a devotion card that no one bothered to remove. That sounds appealing actually, but I found I needed to interact with my opponent a bit more, so SA was cut. To replace it I thought about several cards, but ultimately in my online build I felt I needed to improve my curve just a bit so I decided to try Grim Lavamancer. So far it has eaten a lot of removal and discard so I can't vouch for it's performance, but it is more interactive.
The other new thing for me is that I built the deck in paper (well with proxied chandra) which allowed me to use Boros Reckoner and Ashenmoor Gouger. The paper deck was put together with what I had on hand, so it is a mish-mash of ideas from the much more tuned MTGO deck. If you are interested here is the paper build:
This is not a deck that has been tested against many living opponents and not with the same tournament level decks as opponents like I have with the MTGO version of RSD. It is just a way for me to work out some ideas.
In as much as I am still playing Modern at the moment I am. I was starting to get uninspired so I have been playing mostly EDH for a couple months waiting till BNG comes to MTGO before doing any serious MOdern playing.
So i've been brewing something along the lines of Mono-red devtion and adding in skred/snow seems pretty good. I haven't got a deck list put together, but I've got a list of cards for consideration. Some of them are sideboard cards and others are to make use of Nykthos. Hope it helps with brewing
I would probably drop the Aether Vial in favor of Lightning Bolt. I would replace Aether Membrane with Boros Reckoner as well, but you said you were already testing that one out. Skred on Boros Reckoner seems like a really unique way to finish the game.
Vial is great here. It provides some acceleration and is uncounterable which is key when casting a Fanatic that wins the game for you. I played Reckoner in my paper build, and it is okay, but not nearly as great as it is made out to be. I still find myself wanting Membrane to stop fliers.
