I'd personally like a Metallic Sliver reprint into modern just to give us another 1 drop, but I dont really see it happening.
Gencon Report
2 events - 4 rounds each.
Round 1 - Mardu Pyromancer 1-2. Won game 1 with the surprise factor and my opponent making several mistakes. Lost games 2 and 3 due to mana issues in game 2 and a lack of mistakes from my opponent, he played flawlessly in games 2 and 3.
Round 2 - Jund 2-1. Typical Jund match-up in game 1, got my hand picked apart and every creature removed. Won games 2 and 3 off bad luck for my opponent, flooded out both games.
Round 3 - Dredge 2-1. Opponent mulled to 3 in game 1, not a game. I mulled to 5 game 2, not a game. Game 3 we both kept 7's. A turn 3 CoCo really did my opponent in.
Round 4 - Living End 2-1. Had no answers to a turn 2.5 living end in game 1. Game 2 I saw Warping Wail for the living end my opponent had to suspend due to drawing all 3 living ends in 3 consecutive turns. Game 3 I saw a darkheart early, and kept a board thru all of the living ends.
Round 1 - "Jeskai Bloodbraid" 2-0. This guy was on a home brew 4 color control deck. He fell flat on his face both games.
Round 2 - Humans 2-1. Won the die roll won the match. Turn 1 Galeriders each of the 3 games. Won games 1 and 3, in game 2 he found reflector mages.
Round 3 - Storm 0-2. Opponent mulled to 5 game 1 and still combo'ed off before I could kill him due to keeping a 1 land hand with a vial. Game 2 I has opening hand relic, but he abraded it turn 2 and proceeded to combo off.
Round 4 - Jund Shadow 2-1. Much like the JUnd match up from the previous event, lose game 1 to hand disruption and removal, but storm back in the following games. Sedge was MVP.
So in 8 rounds of magic at Gencon 6-2. Won 24 prize tickets (24 packs) a pretty good haul.
I like some of the 1 drops we have whether it is Sidewinder, Striking, and Virulent outside of Galerider. I think that is enough, but Sidewinder isn't that great in modern and Striking is, but it is better off of coco to have lords etc.
I think Fast Slivers would be pretty awesome if we could get slivers like Militia Bugler or someway to get card advantage.
Metallic Sliver is blank, Striking, Virulent and Sidewinder are better
I really like the thought of using horizon canopy in fast slivers, just wish it wasnt extremely expensive $$$...
Horizon Canopy is not needed imo, solid number of mana sinks already, Sliver Hive suffers from saccing lands and we need all 5 colors more than humans, also they induce pain on every activation
I think Fast Slivers would be pretty awesome if we could get slivers like Militia Bugler or someway to get card advantage.
Sliver Hive is card advantage
Unlike Humans, Fast Slivers have very nice manabase with 8 mana sinks instead of 4 one shot effects
Other possibilities are 8 Rack and Humans. I have huge experience with 8Rack, big with Slivers and somewhat small with Humans, also missing cards for $300 for the latter. Trying to figure out decks' fitness to metagame and my win percentages.
I'm gearing up for a PPTQ tomorrow.
I've made a couple edits to my list to accommodate the recent uptick in graveyard decks, bridgevine. +1 Relic to side +1 Darkheart main and -1 Blur main. Graveyard decks have been growing in popularity in my local area so to help those matchups an extra Relic is needed. I feel I play much better with Darkheart in main, the value provided by sac'ing in response to removal is greater than I previously thought.
Did you have any manabase problems? I always found myself unable to cast some of my slivers.
I have always problems in figuring how many rainbow lands and how many swamps should I fit in.
Honestly I really only made 1 BIG mistake in the top 8.
I actually had game 1 won, but I got greedy. I had 11 lands in play and 5 tokens, and opponent was at 1 life. I had played maybe 6-7 spells the whole game and I top decked a CoCo... My opponent only had 1 thing in the ice as a blocker and it had 3 counters on it... I made the mistake of attempting to cast the CoCo. He had a hand full of counter magic, spell pierced the CoCo, remanded the spell pierce and them logic knotted the Coco to flip his thing in the ice bounce my board and end my chances of winning the game.
I won game 2 with Frenetic flips. Lost game 3 by mulling to oblivion.
Guys what graveyard hate do you think is preferable for fast slivers?
I always liked Relic of Progenitus because it provides value 'for free' and can be cycled. Though there are less Tarmogoys these days to suffer from relics. Also need to leave one mana open is uncomfortable. Nihil Spellbomb resembles Relic but with own pros and cons. Grafdigger's Cage and Surgical Extraction are other possibilities
I dont consider Leyline of the Void and Rest in Peace because they are hard to cast but I do own all of these.
Maybe Leyline is not that bad or I missed something else?
Well, I think Graveyard hate depends on speed and composition.
The problem with Relic is that without Aether Vial to still provide pressure to the board at reasonable levels, it is not exactly great to hold up while not maintaining your beat down nature. Also, I think Fast Slivers has a great chance against beatdown graveyard strategies as Slivers are great against other non-combo, non-deathshadow beat down decks. With Aether Vial, I believe Relic is a better hate card with Vial or against grindy decks like Jund where we have the time to set up while holding up relic. It doesn't do as well with Bridgevine or Hollow One.
Leyline is currently used in a Fast Sliver-esque Legacy style deck which can't cast it either. Leyline is necessary due to Legacy's possibly fast combo starts and protection from Crystalline Sliver and Force of Will. I think Leyline of the Void has merit on the whole for fast slivers.
Grafdigger's Cage is good against everything but bridge and a few other things. It also has benefit against CoCo/Chord decks which are not a great matchup.
Surgical Extraction is probably not a great option. We don't offer great discard/land desctruction/kill spell options to really make great use of surgical extraction's utility.
Rest in Peace and other colored hate outside leyline is terrible and shouldn't be considered. Nihil Spellbomb in FAST slivers is also terrible and shouldn't be considered.
Tormod's Crypt though is something that should be considered. We may only need to tempo them to provide great sliver action.
It also depends on how much you want to run. I recommend for dedicated graveyard hate that you run 2-4 pieces.
If Vial, 2-4 Relics make a lot of sense. Without vial, either 3-4 Leyline or 1-2 Grafdigger's Cage and 2-3 Tormod's Crypt.
I almost would rank Tormod's Crypt and Gut-Shot as possible side options higher for FAST Slivers than Relic.
The point of fast slivers is to frankly get on the battlefield as fast as you can and aggro them out. Tormod's Crypt allows you to either tempo them and disrupt their plays while still maintaining your plan or force them to go slower which also works in your benefit. In someways Tormod's Crypt is like Leyline of the Void in that it is like Force of Will for MOdern for graveyard decks. Sometimes a one time shot can tempo them out.
Relic is better with the Traditional version I think.
Played against the strangest storm deck I've ever seen today online. In game 1 it looked like normal storm and comboed off early like usual. Game 2 it sided into a RU dragon theme with Sarkhan Fireblood and played glorybringer and dragonlord ojitai and precognition field. The normal hate worked just fine +2 Wail +2 Relic +2 Sphere +2 Syphon and I won in 3 games but it was such a strange deal I had to make note of it.
Been on a heck of a winning streak online lately, 11-1 in my last 12 matches in the practice room and queues.
I'll have some reports soon, Gencon this week and modern PPTQ season coming up.

Grixis control 2-1 - nothing too memorable, games 2 and 3 he simply could not deal with my board.
Bant midrange 1-2 - in game 3 I foolishly swung into a settle the wreckage which settled the match.
Mono U turns 2-0 - his deck was simply too slow to do much.
5 color control 2-0 - calling this 5 color control though not totally sure what this deck was. He needed to wrath but never drew one.
Need to expect settle the wreckage in a few more matchups, its becoming much more popular.
