I think Diffusion is kind of a necessary evil in our deck due to the amount of Jund, Control, and other spot removal that is around in this format. Slowing down the control decks so they can't do 2 spells in one turn is crucial. They are also fine in multiples. They can also be a hedge vs. dredge and conflagorate as they would have pay 2 per target, same for Fiery Justice.
An on curve BBE into a fatal push or a bolt does nothing with a diffusion sliver out same thing with an on curve Liliana, the Last Hope, and Izzet Staticcaster.
There have been times that Diffusion has helped me to survive a game enough to win it, but it doesn't win games on your own. The failure of the card that is that it doesn't provide presure on its own as well as you can't do it proactively. In some matchups it is pretty useless and in others its going to be amazing. It is similar to necrotic sliver or blur sliver.
I tried some Leeching Sliver. IT is an essentially 2 mana lord effect without the toughness. It is why I don't play play it, but it is reasonable, but not perfect substitute for Sedge Sliver and is fine for a deck not designed around Sedge Sliver. I really like having Sedge Sliver though with being a 2/2 (technically 3/3 and regeneration) is generally super good against wraths like Anger or Supreme Verdict. The other problem with Leeching Sliver is that you need it in play at the beginning of combat rather than at the Effects stage of combat.
Anyone know how to use regenerate on MTGO during combat? I've finally taken the plunge and downloaded and bought my list, the dang thing isnt allowing me to use regenerate during combat. Do I need to have a stop set up for it or something?

Maybe I didnt use regeneration on mtgo but it should work this way. Its an activated ability. So you activate it when you want but before creature dead. So in case of combat thats on declaring blockers step. If you automatically skip declaring blockers priority then you need to put a stop on it.

So you will get a window showing the effect of the spell, say Anger of the Gods and you have Sedge Sliver an open black mana. So when Anger is on the stack, you need to click on Sedge Sliver and it will show a small wwindow that says B: Regenerate. You click that option and then tap a black source or a sliver (with manaweft and choose B).
This is one of the problem with playing Slivers on line. You really need to be up on your MTGO game because there is a lot of small interactions which just eats up time in long grindy games. Combined with Aether vial and mutavault, you are going to lose games on time as there are a lot of times you can't just F6 or F4 past everthing.
Thanks for the info. Luckily I won even without being able to save my sedge that one time. Played 3 matches last night, won them all 2-0 vs solemnity, affinity and thru the breach. Felt real good when the last opponent had to thru the breach on my turn to keep from dying that turn, brought in a griselbrand to block.
One thing I didn't mention with Sedge Sliver and Manaweft. you have to click on the sliver you want to regenerate or get mana from and not the Sedge or Manaweft.
Also really beware Necrotic Sliver activations. I have destroyed my own land too many times to count that cost me games.
What lists are you guys currently running? I've resleeved the slivers and played some fnm's with moderate succes. Was wondering what the lists looked like you guys played in your tournament reports. I know the main list is mostly settled, but since the meta changed alot since I last played I wondered about some minor tweaks like:
-3 or 4 mutavault?
-Mainboard striking, sentinel, homing sliver?
-Removal in the main? Mostly dismember I reckon. I've been running Abrupt Decay to snipe Ensnaring Bridges and blood moons, mostly because in our local fnm group are 2 lantern players and a blue moon player and decay is a nice mainboard catch all.
-2 or 3 blur sliver?
I personally am running 3 mutavault, 2 blur, 2 dismember and 1 homing main. Sentinel is always in the corner of my mind about a possible come back but I just cant justify a spot for him.
Round 1, 2-0 vs kuldotha red. A blast from the past here. This guy had been out of the game for several years and took a bit to get into the games.
Round 2, 2-0 vs btl scapeshift. Game 1 was a comedy of horrors, both of us drew so horribly. I mulled to 5 to start and kept 1 land double vial, and my opponent eventually got 11 lands on board and brainstormed 5 turns in a row and still could not find combo fetching each turn as well. Game 2, he miss boarded and brought in engineered explosives and hit that with a madcap experiment basically killing himself.
Round 3, 2-1 vs ad nauseum. Game 1 he comboed before i could get a diffusion out or deal him lethal. Game 2 was kind of like against scapeshift, he couldn't find his combo. Game 3, i redirected his lightning storm to 1 of 2 diffusion slivers in play thus countering it since he didn't have 4 mana.
Round 4, 2-1 vs jeskai breach. Game 1 he saw 2 wrath of gods early and emrakul killed me. Game 2 he was slow to start and i was able to keep him off lands with necrotic every time he'd kill a sliver I'd kill a land and eventually got wide. Game 3 worked him into a mistake, cast the Hivelord into a path to ensure a clear attack the next turn for the win.
8-2 in games.
4-0 in matches.
Great night. Opened some masters 25: jace, port, blood moon, foil lightning bolt, spirit guide...
Completed another mtgo league today... really dont like the algorithm that decides opening hands.
2-3, 2-3, 3-2, 3-2 and today 3-2.
Losses vs Tron (2 nut draws in a row, grrrrr!!!) and Living End (mulled to 5 each game)
I did get a win against Storm today which was super surprising. I forced him to use empty the warrens in game 3 due to warping wail exiling his Barals. I got there because I brought in Syphon and gained a ton of life to survive the 16 goblins.
I run Canonist in legacy sideboard, maybe try it in Modern... We do have that new card coming out of Dominaria too... That Storm match was the first time I'd beaten storm when they actually played spells. One previous win came on paper against a guy with severe mana issues both games.
The storm matchup is pretty bad. Dampening Sphere might also be an ok tron hate as we aren't bad against tron, but it could be more incidental hate. It could also be good hate against Eldrazi tron as well.
Any thoughts on what to edit in the board to add in a couple Dampening Spheres? I am thinking Telekinetic for sure gets cut, but havent found a good choice to cut for a second copy.
I've enjoyed telekinetic too but i think sphere does it's job better and it useful in more matchups. Think I'll end up cutting telekinetic and 1 syphon. I really like warping wail when i see it in sideboard games.
Back to the larger LGS this week. 36 players, capped at 5 rounds. I walked in pretty much dead on my feet, not feeling the greatest and having been thru one hell of a day at work... I was not my best self tonight.
2-2
Round 1 - mono U thing 2-0. This guy was on a super janky deck that was trying to bounce my lands and flip thing. It didnt work out for him.
Round 2 - ponza 1-2. Won game 1 off a CoCo landing 2 lords with a blur in play. Lost game 2 on the draw to a turn 2 blood moon, had a turn 2 manaweft had I been on the play. Lost game 3 to a flood, 8 lands...
Round 3 - mono R goblins 2-1. Lost game 1 super fast, goblin grenade is a pain. Won game 2 by multiple sedges finding a home on the battlefield. Game 3 dropped a syphon at 2 life and stabilized at that point.
Round 4 titan shift 1-2. Won game 1 because he could not find scapeshift or titan. Lost game 2 even after warping wailing his scapeshift, titan was too much. Lost game 3 due to titan again, got stuck on 3 lands so I couldnt ever drop more than 1 thing a turn with a hand full of Sedges and syphon. Died from 24 life on game 3.
After that I was pretty beat so I decided to drop before the last round and get some sleep.
Any suggestions to counteract titan? Really wish there was a way to use Necrotic sooner besides manaweft.
Man, I really hate the algorithm that dictates starting hands and draws on MTGO. I swear in every single league I play I have to mulligan way more often than I do in paper, its maddening. I dropped a hivelord against blue/black fairies with both of us empty handed and what does he draw? Dismember.

Maaan dont bash rng, thats lame. Faeries play 2-3 Dismembers after sideboard. You were unlucky, ***** happens. To everyone, even your opponent. On a regular basis.
Looks like a toolbox build. Only 2 CoCo, 3 main Homing, only 1 Sedge... very interesting.
I like the addition of Venom Sliver to the deck. I've been running into a lot of Hollow one online and I think it could improve our chances in that matchup. If we can get the combo of Striking and Venom out it'd be hard for the hollow ones to do much. I am going to start running a couple Venom in side as a test.

Dampening Sphere is mostly going to be used against Storm, KCI, maybe Elves (on the play), and Tron.
Relic is there for Dredge, Storm, and Snapecaster/Tarmogoyf decks.
Warping Wail is for Storm, Devoted Druid, and Scapeshift.
Darkhearts can be for removal heavy matchups (jund and U/W and Jeskai), Living End, and Burn/Zoo.
Sypon is for non-infect Aggro Decks and Burn.
Telekinetic, 1 warping wail, and 1 syphon are my recommendations.
