Adam Bowman got so much love on camera, and well earned.
I will say though that I still can't win a game against Burn with Slivers. So I dropped one of the sideboard Darkhearts for the 4th Diffusion. Swept the open winner's Nahiri Control deck in practice games. Oh, and I've also abandoned the Infect matchup. So, both good and bad news.
My list: http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/11-05-16-zcb-slivers/
Edit: Well, I can win a game here and there against Burn, but a whole match seems improbable. If it happens it'll likely be because they mull to oblivion both games. Or I freeze out their hand with Diffusion Sliver. I'm not even certain lifegain slivers help.
Round 1, 2-0 vs dredge. The opponent managed to keep the first game close by dark blasting over and over again until I got a diffusion sliver in play. Game 2 was not close as he mulled to 4.
Round 2, 2-0 vs wolf/werewolf tribal. This was a very interesting matchup. I honestly liked what his deck was doing but managed to out race him game 1 and fly over him game 2.
Round 3, 1-2 vs burn. Game 1 was not very close at all, I kept a subpar hand not knowing what was coming. Game 2 I pulled out the victory by coco into double lord and swinging for 16 in the air. Game 3 could not overcome triple eidolon... however it was incredibly close, just couldnt find a coco.
Round 4, 0-2 vs mono-green stompy. This match was a complete mystery to me. For whatever reason I could not get out of the gate on either game and when I gained a little momentum my opponent was there with a dismember to kill it.
Round 5, 2-0 vs jeskai control. This matchup tested my patience to the extreme. Control is a long matchup as it is but this particular player really had no idea what he was doing and really drew out his turns time-wise. Overwhelmed him both games.
Round 6, 1-2 vs zoo. Won the race game 1 by flying over. Out raced game 2. Game 3 was very close, however got stuck on 3 lands with 2 cocos in hand at the end that would have made the difference.
Changes I plan to make:
-2 striking sliver from main, there was never a time where I told myself "man, I could really use striking right now"
+2 dismember to main, not running removal main did limit what I could do
Darkheart sliver really let me down when I sided them in vs burn and zoo, maybe searching for replacements for them too.
It was a pleasure seeing him play again. He seems more confident now and makes less mistakes. Yet another good run by him!
Regarding the list he played then I dont agree completely.
- Lands are pretty much spot on as I prefer them.
- 2 maindeck Darkheart Slivers? Personally I would never take them mainboard but as a 1-2 of in sb. Instead a singleton syphon Sliver or 2 if you expect heavy burn. To often Darkhearts would be a mere body with nothing more added to the synergy. Or at least that is how ive experienced them. Against burn post sb though they can mess things up quite a bit Syphon on the other hand is good in alot of matchups.
- 2 Necrotic Slivers mainboard. Well he do get them to work sometimes but same as before - in my experience they are hard to get online and often only a "body".
- I prefer to have some kind of and reliable interaction mainboard like 2 Dismembers. Versus Infect its almost a guaranteed loss game 1.Versus other combo type decks it gets rough also and you simply need to outrace your opponent.
- Sideboard looks solid. Why the Gemhide Sliver? And Screeching Sliver seems odd. Think it was explained before what MU's its good against but please anyone care to elaborate?
Most of the cards he just played are also in that deck, including Screeching Sliver. He has milled opponents with it, but also buried cards that were left on top to defeat opponent's scrying. I personally like the spice of multiple sliver effects; his is a bit more of toolbox set, but his results speak for themselves.
Any suggestions for my sideboard for this weekend? Ghostflame Sliver is kinda a placeholder. It has the narrowest of utility against Ugin and Etched Champion.

Just a thought, but maybe homing sliver. If you ever get into a situation where you just need something and dont have it (say you need to evade blockers, cycle for a galerider). I am testing a main board Homing in my deck this week.
After last nights sub-par performance at FNM, I finally have removed the Leeching Slivers from my deck. I think I have settled on becoming more of a toolbox deck than straight up aggro. Out came Leeching and in go Darkheart and Homing. I ran a 1 of Homing main last night and it did very well. Managed to tutor up a Galerider against abzan and fly over for victory. I have since upped the number to 2 main. I really didnt play very well last night, other than a few good moves. The poor performance was solely on my lack of concentration. I wont put much stock in the results of the night but the test of Homing did go well.
Tom Ross on friday did an article on SCG about combo slivers, This is the list he posted. the article is Called New brews for modern Weekend, but it is on the premium side.
This is a list I myself have built, my first few posts on this thread were about my version of this very deck. I used 4 Intruder alarms. The fun combo is the Dormant Firewake Manaweft and intruder alarm. The screeching I think is a nice add to the list. I found however that this deck is just far too slow to work.
The author cited winning vs. Ad Nauseam as Merfolk by holding a land, discarding it and redirecting Lightning Storm to Kira, Great Glass-Spinner. I would imagine we could achieve a similar blowout by redirecting triggers to Diffusion Sliver.
Might give toolbox Sliver pilots some percentage points against what I've usually considered a miserable matchup (not sure about aggro-focused Slivers) I would guess the Ad Naus pilots wouldn't see this coming too often...or at least it might buy us an extra turn or so.
Edit: Might be even better than Kira since Kira's ability can be fizzled with their 1-of Slaughter Pact.
i'd just be happy with a reprint of Crystalline Sliver and printing of a "scavenging ooze" sliver (or sometype of graveyard hate sliver)
Honestly, with eternal masters coming out i expected a reprint of crystalline. Now that everything is spoiled and it's not there im a bit disappointed.
Slivers is the faster more aggressive deck, but also is more Hatebear using creatures to control the board state. Telekinetic, Necrotic, Screeching, help control the board state, but it is also all creature-based.
Merfolk is slower, but is more tempo with a limited spell-based control option. Merfolk has a controlling/tempo sideboard.
My slivery instincts tell me Descendants' Path is too slow and too much of a win more, but if there is a deck for it, that one would look much different than CoCo Slivers. I would want Sliver Hivelord, Sliver Legion, and Telekinetic Sliver (and Screeching Sliver, and 6+ mana slivers).
I ran a 1 of in my build last week and I only ever saw it in hands I had to mulligan due to lack of lands. I feel GreySavant is correct that its too slow, but I can see late in games it could help when our hands are depleted keeping lands from our hands when we need gas.
I think it would be best in grindy matchups and therefore should be roughly in the sideboard which frankly is already tight. It could be brought in against Grixis, Jund, etc. I just don't think tapping 3 mana on turn 3 for an effect on turn 4 is where we want to be against the likes of zoo, burn, infect, affinity, etc. even though it would be good in turn 4 or later. I think it could be a decent card in the sideboard though, but I am not sure what it would replace. Our sideboard is getting pretty tight with all the hatebear slivers and removal/disruption.
