Once again, just like Sin Prodder, they create a card i want, yet is 1 more than my deck likes. She is freaking legendary, just make her WW and i would swap my 2 Improsing Sovereign for her immediately!!!
Yeah I feel like this new Thalia would go more with a Boros-Taxes deck but I'm so hard pushed at having zero CMC cards over 2... Probably a good sideboard option when Abbots won't do as well and keeping blockers held back is more important. For one it's another help against getting combo'd out by Kiki-Chord or Nahiri, slows Tron down and between both Thalia's and maybe Wingmare you can disrupt tempo enough to just draw into burning them out or a few extra attacks from the early crestures.
It's a budget brew... I did look at it when the article came out but largely starting with out the Soul Sisters package would be better. You become useless to any sweeper effect and Infect will just laugh right past all the life gain. Burn sure would waste a lot of it's spell on your Soul Wardens and Soul's Attendants but you could have had a Kor Firewalker or something that would have been attacking and sticking around after a Vollcanic Fall out or Anger of the Gods. Ajani's Pridemates also should have been an instant change to Eldrazi Displacer or Fiend Hunter.
Part of why I mentioned Hall of the Bandit Lord. We don't have a LOT of creatures that aren't color dependent but some hasting 2/3 and 2 1/1 Humans after is sweet! It could also mean a hasty Abbot, Thalia, or most other 2 drops that aren't Eidolon or Firewalker. It will also punish opponents who fire off their Paths or Bolts too soon on a Guide or Swiftspear.
Oh and being Human tokens make a big difference. If you have already swapped to a Human synergy it's even better. In fact a going turn 1 Champion of the Parish, turn 2 Thalia's Lieutenant off a Hall of the Bandit Lord swings for 4, turn three Garrison swings for 14... MWAHAHAHAAAAAA!!!!
The whole set was a huge troll for aggro red based decks, like our own. The red dude above does not deal damage upon entering, thus i would prefer to play burn over him and Thalia is 1 away from awesomeness...
The last maindeck card we got was Monastery Swiftspear and sideboard the fringe Exquisite Firecraft. This is rediculous, standard is kneeling this archetype.
Let's hope she does not become a walletslayer! Who am i kidding...
The first ability can end the game or gives you one more chance to draw that Charm you need.
The second ability lets you empty your hand with her and then Blaze a creature.
The third ability can kill almost anything, though it will rarely be the best to do asap.
The forth can end game, but who cares.
She seems handmade for your deck GofyTomcat1! I believe i will use her as a 1-of maindeck or 2-of in the side against midrange. In matches like jund, junk and mardu is where she truly shines.
I love her! Did some preliminary testing against Bots, Team Geist, and Zoo. 3-0, Chandra was amazing! She often gave me mana for burn and addn'l Guides, or she machine gunned the opponent with repeated Shocks. I even ulted her twice, to great effect.
IDK... If you are Ulting I feel you should have already won the game. Also if you want to build with her I would suggest Flame Jabs again. Especially at high land counts and when you start running out of fetch targets.
BTW A month or so ago I tried the Human focused list and it did AWFUL!!! I did not plan properly despite a friend Warninf me the amount of Abzan in my absence. I've been slowly building Legacy D&T lately so I've bee highly lax on brewing and testing.
I'm iffy about Chandra in most lost just because you HAVE to hit land drop or have her locked in hand, but she certainly can get the job done. We'll see. I'm keeping a close eye on Kaladesh and preparing accordingly.
In further testing of my list she is performing adequately In fact most of my list is. The lists I ulted her against had run out of gas fighting my early drops, so she was unanswered long enough to go off.
I have been tuning and playtesting with my close playing group, lately, though not yet in serious Friday Night games, because of university exams, and Kaladesh awaiting.
Dryad Militant has fallen out of favor, and Kytheon has been doing fine. In fact, not only does he imposes a serious beatstick if left unchecked, but there have beem games he stands as an eternal blocker, enough turns for me so that i draw that particular finishing burn spell.
Zurgo is there for the LoLs, as a fourth copy of Kytheon would be too much for a legendary. The redudancy and surprise haste work fine though.
Imposing Sovereign was underperforming, as modern has turned into a removal heavy format lately in my playgroup and/or creature-light decks. The Eidolon is really helping in those situations. Though when the times come that i face a Aether Vial deck or an instant reanimator deck, i really wish i would run both in my deck. Sad decisions.
The new Chandra on the other hand, has been a great newcomer against midrange and prison decks. Perhaps i will get a second copy, but i find it hard to find room.
The Declaration and the Firecraft are always on point, as well as the Blood Hand, because my deck REALLY HATES LIFEGAINING! I may replace the second Blood Hand for a second walker or something, but besides Chandra, the others are not good enough.
The new fast land is losing ground in my deck for one simple reason: Landfall. Without the fast lands, my deck has 12 fetch lands and 8 possible targets. With them the pothential targets become 6, that's 2/8=1/4=25% efficiency loss for my mana fixing, the Lynx and the Blaze! Saving 2 life never seems to win me the game, whereas there have been a sufficient amount of games that i had dead fetchlands in my hand!
I think i will return to 4 Foundries for as long as landfall is a major player in my deck.
I will post results as soon i start playing starting next week i believe.
See!!! See what I was saying about changing to a fetch heavy mana base! It's great isn't it! Though I think you'll start to see what I meant about only running 2-3 Sacred Foundry instead of the full 4. If your meta is fast enough or if they can stall into a Grundy game those 2 points of damage can the the deciding factor. I cannot tell you how many games I've lost from being 1-3 points too low on life

I hate everyone right now....
An interesting deck that combines Soul Sisters and Humans Aggro.
I think that there must be better options here than Hero of Oxid Ridge (Hero of Bladehold and Ranger of Eos come to mind)

It reminds me a bit of Mardu Strike Leader which didn't see play in Modern.

This is really sweet!
