If you're willing to stretch into a third color, Impact Tremors is a nice cheap option for making this an infinite damage combo. Stretching into red gives access to Lightning Bolt and a potential fun time with Purphoros, God of the Forge.
Obviously, since this is a budget forum, you could help your manabase out by implementing a standard staple amid rotation, Sylvan Caryatid.
I am relatively sure non budget decks will want 3 or 4 collected company since it finds both the aura tutor (heliod's pilgrim), the combo creature (midnight guard), and possible recursion if something got nuked (eternal witness)
It can be found on TCG for under 4 bucks right now. Still pretty budget in my book. I think either a Naya build, using Presence of Gond as back up to Elemental Mastery, or a RW build will rise to the top. Going wide and having haste is what we need to win on the spot. If you want to go deep you could even try to slot the RW combo into a sort of UWR Twin shell, to get blue for disruption and dig. It'll be interesting to see how this deck progresses now that Twin is out of the format, as it's pretty much Twin without the flash. You'll have to jam the combo, or wait until you can properly back up the combo with the appropriate disruption. Call me interested.
The only problem with this deck vs. the now-defunct twin builds was that blue had a redundant creature. Green/white doesn't, not in the same manner as midnight guard, so you need more ways to fetch it. Therein shall be the sticking point. Which is why I was curious as to how the collected company/heliod's pilgrim builds were working out?

There is an extremely limited amount on TCG, and you can't actually purchase a playset without paying $5+ per copy (with delivery). When this guide was written the card cost cents.
I've been running this combo as one half a kitchen-table dual-combo deck - one of the combos being this topic's Presence of Gond+Midnight Guard, the other being Enduring Renewal + Zulaport Cutthroat + Wild Cantor/Endless One (I'd use Hangarback Walkers if I owned them; Endless One is the budget substitute X=0 for 0/0 creature - if I'm ever casting it for X greater than 0 my deck is not doing well). Since all the pieces for either combo are creatures and enchantments, Commune With the Gods works to dig for whichever piece of either combo I'm lacking. Orzhov Charm does duty in all of its modes - it provides me defense against a quick killy threat, it recurs an Endless One or Wild Cantor from my grave once the Renewal combo is set (often one that was put there by Commune), or, in a seldom-used pinch, it can rescue both Gond+Guard from a sweeper that would otherwise kill it and all its tokens.
I've seen it fire either combo on T3 several times. T1 Birds/Cantor, T2 Cutthroat, T3 Renewal, then Endless One for 0 is game. Or T1 Birds/Cantor, T2 Guard, T3 Presence for megaswarm then T4 swing+win. But if things stall, Commune usually greases the wheels.
Glass cannon, sure. But it's 2 glass cannons, and it's fun to win with one after the opponent thinks it broke the deck neutralizing the other.
(This thread has me thinking about using Impact Tremors instead of Zulaport Cutthroat though - less vulnerable, and allows the Gond combo to win the turn it fires rather than having to wait to swing).
You guys mentioned Chord of Calling, and we be making a crap ton of tokens right, and the Chord has convoke RIGHT. Instant speed play Emrakul, the Aons Torn. GG
I posted in another version of this decks thread in deck creation but I then found this much-more-replies version here.
RIX just brought us some awesome redundancy for this combo, specifically for the versions that run Soul Warden or its sisters. Famished Paladin slots in there beautifully. Turn 1 Soul Sister, turn 2 Famished Paladin, turn 3 Presence of Gond - make a million tokens and gain a million life.
I’ve also found that Sunstrike Legionnaire is an extremely efficient backup, and you can get it out turn two without any ramp or the life gain-type cards you need for famished paladin.
This is the budget modern forum. Sunstrike legionnaire is not modern legal.
It's a great card, and is a nice redundant piece if you're building this combo into a commander deck or throwing together a deck for kitchen table play allowing for modern-ineligible cards. But in its modern form as this forum is about, Sunstrike is a no-go.
With the spoiling of Squirrel Nest I do wonder if there’s an Intruder Alarm version of this combo deck that fits in arbor elf and other untap target land creatures.

You could definitely upgrade the manabase, with Brushland, Razorverge Thicket and Temple Garden, Stirring Wildwood, or even Windswept Heath if you have some from standard. Birds of Paradise and Noble Hierarch are the optimal manadorks. Path to Exile is a possible maindeck/sideboard card. Maybe Voice of Resurgence too?
If you're looking to make a nonbudget version I suggest starting a new thread in deck creation. Otherwise, just go for the options I listed above.

Credit to DolZero for this awesome sig!
Elemental Mastery has stopped being budget hard though.

I also thought Birthing Pod was banned in Modern
