This is a monocolour, budget version of the popular GW Auras / Hexproof deck. Both versions are based on the simple premise of loading up cheap hexproof guys with auras and attacking in for a lot of damage quickly. It's not exactly a deck with a lot of depth, but it can be quite fun, and is also a good deck for players who are new to the format and/or Magic entirely.
On a Budget
The expensive cards in the standard version of the deck are white or white-based lands (Kor Spiritdancer, Daybreak Coronet, Horizon Canopy, etc), and the creatures needed to get damage in are green, so we switch to monogreen and while a turn or two slower, still find ourselves in reasonably good shape.
The beauty of the deck is there aren't really cards you have to bite the bullet for: all except some of the nonbasic lands (Dryad Arbor, Pendelhaven) are pennies, and even those lands can be swapped out for forests without sacrificing much. The deck will cost you about $50 (paper) / $10 (MTGO), and serves as a fine starting point if you want to upgrade to the expensive version over time or all at once later.
I played a mono-green hexproof deck a while back in a daily event. I would definitely suggest trying Dungrove Elder and Blanchwood Armor as well. Very cheap cards that are effective in a mono green shell!
You're the guy I heard about that inspired me to make this. How'd you do?
I'm not sure about them due to their cost; I'm also not sure about how effective they'd actually be most of the time, since most games you need to win before you really get value out of them. I think I'd rather Boar Umbra than Blanchwood Armor, but even that I'm iffy on.
What's your sideboard? I may use that as a starting point or tentative list.
