MTG Salvation

Decided to put this deck together after seeing Deadbridge Goliath for the first time. I don't really know what to put into my sideboard. Perhaps a couple of Apostle's Blessings?

If you go you discard route hunted horror could work. Also death shadow but that would bring it above budget.

If you notice yourself with no cards in hand then lupine prototype is a 2 cost 5/5

I used to use one or two Kalonian Hydra when I had a similar deck instead of Jared

Thought about servant of the scale ? Looks more solid sliverhead to me. Maybe worth testing

Heroic Intervention could be a good side card for your.

I never knew about that card. I think my main scavenge fodder is fine for now, as I can see myself both discarding and playing Nyxathid more than Hunted Horror. I've also noticed Death's Shadow. And like you said, getting a couple of those would push my deck beyond budget. I've been keeping an eye out for a good bid on eBay, though. I usually have a few cards in hand most of the time, so Lupine Prototype isn't really on my radar

Wow, that card looks insane. My head hurts from thinking about the counters that Corpsejack Menace and Kalonian Hydra can produce. I originally put Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord more so because I'm interested in his ability. Swing with a heavily counter'd creature, and use Jarad's sac ability to deal more damage

I've thought about Servant of the Scale when I was putting the cards together as well. And from thinking it through, I've found that I value Slitherhead a lot more as my 1-drop because it plays into Lotleth Troll a lot better

Hey, Im also wanting to build GB beats. Just getting back into MTG so I may be a bit rusty with combos etc, but my list I want to work on is below:



I think the idea will be Dread Wander, Gravecrawler in play, can be discarded to lotleth troll (also slitherhead) and can all come back if needed or to feed Jarad when the time comes. Smuggler's Copter is another discard outlet for Jarad/Lotleth. Garruk Relentless to keep the pressure on with wolf tokens or flip to Veil-Cursed and fetch Geralf's for some 2dmg pinging

I've been keeping an eye out for some Blooming Marshes on eBay, lol. You have so many fun cards in that deck. Dread Wanderer, Gravecrawler, and Smuggler's Copter..I'm kind of jealous I've got a playset of Geralf's Messengers, but I just haven't been able to fit him into a deck. What was the price range of that deck?

Don't be too jealous, I'm in the market for most of these cards since I got rid of mine before moving interstate and I've just built this deck using the card images and saving them in a folder on my PC haha and I use the deck builder on https://deckstats.net/?lng=en
Hopefully I'll have this soon to properly test it out. But it looks fun to me too haha but going by starcitygames prices, it'll be like a $200US deck by the looks?

So I probably shoukdnt have put it in the budget section, but I saw your deck and always like playing GB. But take out the dual lands and save like $50 right there.

I might be misunderstanding something here, but how does Solemnity work with Geralf's Messenger? Does that basically make it so that Geralf's Messenger is an always-returning creature?

Neat! Yeah, by the looks it would! Solemnity would make it so Geralf wouldn't get the counters on its return from the graveyard and then when he dies he would have no counters and would return once again. Geez, not bad!

Pretty much. You use can use creatures to sac him also to combo kill someone if you can get all 3 cards

Most popular cards to use are Cartel Aristocrat Viscera Seer and Phyrexian Unlife in that deck if I recall. Also Kitchen Finks is infinite life

Ok, so adjusting (ahem...lowering) my budget since Geralfs Messenger, Garruk, and the multiple zombies at $4-$10 a pop etc. This Golgari Scavenge Counters idea looks really solid. Here's my build that I'm working on:

Yeah, it looks pretty solid. Although I think that Mournwillow would to be more useful than Dreg Mangler. The scavenge cost of Dreg Mangler is pretty high, and I can always use Varolz, the Scar-Striped to scavenge Mourwillow. But I don't know, just something to think about

Varolz seems underutilized without all the undercosted creatures, playing Varolz fairly doesn't seem nearly good enough.
All the counters enhancing creatures aren't necessary when you have good scavenge fodder like:
Death's Shadow, Hunted Horror, Force of Savagery, Phyrexian Soulgorger or Sheltering Ancient/Myr Superion/Lupine Prototype.

Another important thing is to have good targets to scavenge onto:
#Infect creatures don't need many counters to finish the game - Plague Stinger, Phyrexian Crusader.
#Evasive creatures are a good target as well - Tormented Soul, Dryad Sophisticate,
#Hard to remove creatures are also good - Gladecover Scout, Silhana Ledgewalker, Bassara Tower Archer, Troll Ascetic.
#Creature lands - Blinkmoth Nexus, Treetop Village.

Another good card to pair with those undercosted creatures (the 2-drops among them) can be Claim // Fame.

Hm, interesting. Never really though about seeing the deck from that angle before. Will take it into consideration, thanks!

I'm keen for any budget friendly options. I'd much prefer death's shadow, but the others could certainly do the job too! Also looking at it from that point of view helps a lot rather than just trying to stick to the "Golgari" theme to the deck.

I'll definitely add the claim//fame's to my rakdos aggro also haha!
