yeah, but that only happens when their hand is 2 or less for rack and 1 or less for shrieking. the caress also makes cycling very painful for stuff like living end.
The problem with those decks for me is that Liliana costs an arm and a leg. I playtested my upcoming infect deck against hypothetical Abzan and Affinity opponents and it lost most of the time. I'd be willing to pay for an 8rack deck with Ensnaring Bridge. I figure that the creature sac on Liliana isn't that big of a deal if you have Ensaring Bridge.
What happened to the Delirium Skeins, destroyermaker? Early in the thread you talk about a desire to balance it and necrogen mists, but the primer now suggests 4x necrogen mists instead. Did Skeins simply turn out to be worse overall?
Persistent discard is imperative. I was silly to think otherwise.
Waste Not is not bad in budget but probably less consistent than other options. Deal is absolutely not as consistent. We need Mists for the persistence - there's no way around it.
I can't say I'm pleased to see you and must warn you I may have to do something about it.

If all you are looking at playing is 8Rack then I would say yes. Thoughtseize is a modern staple though, you will get a lot more mileage out of them than you will Bridge IF you are looking to establish a collection of modern cards.

For sure. It's just a matter of which to get first, is all. My only other viable competitive modern deck is Loam Pox, which doesn't really benefit from Thoughtseize.
Also, thanks for posting all your videos. In addition to being a good introduction to 8Rack, they're a good introduction to modern in general, since playing the deck sort of forces you to explain how the other decks in the format work. I just started playing Magic like 6 months ago and your videos have done a good deal to get me up to speed on the meta and the strategies of lots of other decks. I wish more fringe deck players would do this sort of thing.

Hellow, I've been visiting this forum for long time but never made a post on it. I'm a huge fan of 8 rack deck, I own the budget version if it, with one liliana and 3 ensnaring bridges.
I have one question about necrogen mist and the rack: During my opponent's upkeep on both cards specifies that at the beggining of the upkeep he must discard one card, and count the number of cards he o she has and receive damage accordingly.
But the point is that as he control he's upkeep they can choose the order of the actions, as example:
OPPONENT'S UPKEEP PHASE: considering 1 rack and one necrogen mist in play
(he has 3 cards in hand)
1.- he or she count the number of cards in hand and takes no damage from the rack
2.- he or she count chooses and discard a card.
I would really appreciate your answer, this is the reason why I don't like cards like necrogen, and preffer use cards like raven's crime and the Delirium Skeins.
No thats not correct. You control the order of your own effects during his upkeep. All of his effects go on the stack first, in any order he pleases, then all of your effects go on the stack, in any order you please. Place the Necrogen Mist trigger on the top of the stack, then the rack will trigger for damage.

If anyone has cheap suggestions to replace Extraction, I'm all ears. Doesn't have to fight the same decks Extraction does. It's a great card but not critical the way Inquistion is, so if I can save you all $15 (or give you the option to), I will.
Isn't surgical extraction only like 3 dollars? Anyways Extirpate does similar (if not better) but costs even like 1 dollar more. The other 2 available cost 4 mana and are not viable. And eradicate might be possible replacing a 3 mana removal or something. Not targeting permaments or "cards" is quite a big deal though if u ask me since your main goal is to get rid of win conditions like splinter twin or hivemind. Not to mention a sorcery would be too slow to stop either. In case of twin, getting rid of 4 pestermites still leaves 4 exarch's but then again 4 mana and 1 card to get rid of 4 out of 8 is still cheaper then 4x doom blade.
The only real options are relatively cheap popular sideboard staples like pithing Needle and ratchet bomb both available for around 1 dollar.
Funny alternative that might suprise you could be engineered plague, but that does require knowing the enemy deck perfectly as you often have to call out the right type before it's played. Fun to play into elves or goblins though. Maybe even against affinity or merfolk.
It is now that it's been reprinted. It wasn't at the time.
Okay guys how about a look at this list? I am trying to combine 8Rack and devotion.
Also can I justo run 4Racks instead of 8 or is 8 really optimal number of rack cards?
Since I already have 3 Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Phyrexian Arena is budgeter than confidants, I guess I can consider Black Devotion.
