On the other hand, it DOES work with cumulative upkeep cards (except ones that are enchantments), so maybe it could be used with those to break things?
Can we break Soul Diviner? UB colours, dying to Bolt, and being a creature with a tap ability without Haste sucks, but at least it's a 2-drop that profitably blocks Tiago and Bob, and removing a counter from any of your stuff every turn to draw a card should get useful.
The card does not really have a home right now, but has potential. Getting a playset, in case somebody breaks it.
I'm thinking of maybe in some sort of control or prison shell that tries to abuse the UB sagas? Keep finding artifacts with The Antiquities War, tap every opponent creature with Time of Ice, or continous damage with chainer's torment... things like those.
Soul Diviner does not work with enchantments, perhaps specifically to stop saga abuse in standard.
ugh... I see. Well, that's one idea to the trash bin. @__@
Anyone else think that Oath of Kaya has potential? It's sorcery-speed Lightning Helix for 1WB, and it also comes with a little opponent-draining bonus if you have at least one planeswalker they attack.

I do, we're one decent flicker effect away from making it quite brutal.
Imagine curving some painless discard into this against burn and then flickering it with something like felidar guardian or flickerwisp.
I've been brewing with a saheeli rai + liquimetal coating deck for a bit now that already wants removal and felidar guardian anyway. Hitting black, using coating to make it an artifact, and then dropping a copy with saheeli still gets you another ETB trigger.
Magic Christmas land? Yes. Worth a couple card slots to try it out anyway? Yes. This is just me thinking off the top of my head if I was going to jump trough all the hoops, how good is the effect on repeat. I'm sure there is a much more streamlined plan of building with this like starfield of nyx or panharmonicon/mycosynth lattice if we're digging deep lol.
Explosion Zone seems like a really solid choice for Tron Decks, who normally have some issues running Engineered Explosives. Stirrings hits it, it's tutorable with Sylvan Scrying, and it can hit It also seems strong with Life from the Loam, as now there's good, repeatable boardwipes attached to it. Since there isn't an actual draw engine attached to Loam yet, I don't think this will actually build a new archetype, but it'll have a spot once the archetype finally hits critical mass. The one big flaw is that without removing the counter, it can't hit 0 cmc cards, like tokens, Chalice, Opal, etc. etc. Doesn't hit Blood Moon either.
Blast Zone is too expensive of an effect to be amazing with Life from the Loam. You can loam, play it and crack it on 1 for 6 mana on turn 6 (maybe faster with Exploration effects), or put 1 counter on it and crack it the next turn with 5 mana. It's quite an expensive Engineered Explosives.
With a Crucible effect, I think it would be better as you don't have to pay 2 to cast loam, but it is slow either way.

Cause it is a dead card in the early game (where U Tron struggles the most) and afterwards it is just another random high CMC card. Does it really matter, if you cast this card for 12 mana (which requires on average 7 lands (Tron +1, 3 Islands)) or just drop the Mindslaver Lock? If you want a massive card draw, Pull from Tomorrow does this better, cause it is an instant, which is crucial for U Tron.

What I play or have:
Modern/Legacy
either funpolice (Delver, Deathcloud, UW Control) or the fun decks (especially those ft. Griselbrand)
Has anyone been brewing with Ral, Storm Conduit? There was a fair amount of hype around him for a few days after his spoiling and now I haven't heard a mention anywhere. I'm curious if anyone has come up with any rough deck lists involving the copy combo as a plan A or B.
Finale of Eternity has been confirmed, and a one-sided nigh-board wipe for low-toughness dudes seems sweet, especially when those opposing dudes refuse to attack. Casting this for merely 2BB can wreck quite a few decks' board states (Humans, Affinity, Burn on creature mode, Lingering Souls, forces UR Phoenix to cast 3 spells to get their Arclight Phoenixes out of the graveyard again, GWx Collected Company decks, etc.).

I wouldnt bother with that. Put him in Wizards, and Tempo them out with Bolts 1 - 8, and Wizards flashing in, and if they tap out? Ral, -2, Bolt, Snap, Bolt for 16 damage...

Am I missing something here...that should be 12 damage.
Gid's sac seems like it could play around with all sorts of combo-ish things that like taking damage, like Boros Reckoner, as well as being a type of fog-like thing. Price of Betrayal seems like it is a combo tool waiting to happen, instantly taking a bunch of counters from something, like, say, Thing in the Ice. Arboreal Grazer is another extra land onto the battlefield effect that seems Amulet of Vigor friendly.
How on earth does Gideon's Sacrifice work if you make the creature not a creature but it's still on the board? I'm thinking Theros Gods or Imprisoned in the Moon shenanigans. The thing is still on the field... It just doesn't have a toughness anymore.
Arboreal Grazer seems like a pretty solid card, in my opinion. Playing an extra land on T1 is going to see play. I'd bet at a minimum TitanShift picks it up to try it out.

The replacement effect just wouldn't function at all.
119.1. Objects can deal damage to creatures, planeswalkers, and players. This is generally detrimental to the object or player that receives that damage. An object that deals damage is the source of that damage.
119.1a Damage can’t be dealt to an object that’s neither a creature nor a planeswalker.
614.9. Some effects replace damage dealt to one creature, planeswalker, or player with the same damage dealt to another creature, planeswalker, or player; such effects are called redirection effects. If either creature or planeswalker is no longer on the battlefield when the damage would be redirected, or is no longer a creature or planeswalker when the damage would be redirected, the effect does nothing. If damage would be redirected to or from a player who has left the game, the effect does nothing.
Slightly more expensive green sun zenith, but can get any color creature and from the yard as well.
Was down on this card until I realized it read AND/or. You can get two creatures. If modern slows down to where fair green creaturedecks don't die on turn 3 anymore it might have some potential, although Sorcery speed probably means Chord of Calling is better.

Nope, you can't get two creatures. It reads "Search your library and/or graveyard for A creature". The and/or means that you can search your library, search your graveyard and then decide.
Finally, an Amass card that kills a dude that doesn't have to target anything! Bleeding Edge is sadly no Wasteland Strangler or Vengeful Rebel, as all it makes for its 3 mana is a 2/2 and all it provides is -2/-2, but hey, at least the toughness reduction is unconditional, right?
Finale of Devastation replaces collected company in the druid combo deck, making it way more consistent now with 8 chord type effects
I definitely agree. It feels like no one has picked up on the fact that the "and/or graveyard" part of the spell gives the deck additional resiliency as well as more consistency, and the 'overcharge' version is its own wincon, in the event your combo pieces are gone.
Together that makes Finale of Devastation my pick for sleeper hit of the set, creatures toolbox with 8 chord effects where 4 of those chords are also reanimates if they need to be will be a massive hit in the new modern meta.

Thanks for clearing that up, very oddly worded if you ask me
Paying two more for your single creature means whatever you get should win on the spot then I'd say.

How should it have been worded? If it were just "and," as seen in Surgical Extraction and company, then the same confusion would have occurred. If it were just "or" the functionality of the card would be different, since the caster would have to pick one of the two zones and stick with it throughout the search. They same "and/or" wording is used for all of the planeswalker deck searchers, and I've never seen that misunderstanding for those. Maybe it would have been clearer if Wizards stopped using "a creature card" and started using "one creature card."
