I mean it dies to bolt and unrevolted fatal push and it only exiles if you try to reoccur. Its not like it exiles the graveyard on entrance. Will it slow down Recursion Decks sure, is it a single kill answer not really.
Not only it's killing all graveyard strategies it's doing it instant speed, worse it's a human.

lol, thats a hilarious take. I'm sure Jace is too strong for Modern, we are all going to be fatesealed to death too!
In other news, Channelfireball confirmed no Video coverage of GP Toronto and MagicProTour on Twitter is now 'Magic Esports'. I already had a foot out the door as the KCI ban did nothing to the format as expected, time to start taking an inventory of what is left in my Modern collection.
disappointing from both wizards and cfb. certainly a step backwards for modern if this is the treatment we can expect going forward. march is going to be truly depressing.
now its up to SCG to double down and carry the torch alone for paper magic and specifically modern.

SCG broadcast has been amazing, but they make it Sub Only chat, so I cannot partake in the meme's.

If their coverage of Legacy is anything to go by, they'll carry the torch for a while but it will eventually fade.
About Containment Priest, the only thing that makes it dangerous to yard decks is the flash. I would be in favor of having the priest modern legal, because it would be another safety valve that give WoTC less reasons to ban things in yard decks. I remember Scavenging Ooze also started as a commander card before being printed in a core set to be legal in modern.
For Containment Priest, they don't even have to print an exact copy of it. For instance, they could make a variant that isn't human type, making it a Kor or an Avatar or something that isn't as common, dodging issues that putting it in a creature type like spirit or human for Modern would have. It doesn't have to have the exact same P/T either. Could easily be something like a 1/3 or a 2/1, or maybe a 1/2 with flying or something. Flash is probably still needed though, as with the 1W mana cost, for it to do it's job properly.

i mean for legacy it was kinda of self fulfilling. probably the reserved list, but regardless legacy attendance wasnt up to snuff, so SCG scaled back events, which in turn means less exposure and general interest.
that's the thing i too often see overlooked, not even specifically for coverage but for wizards and how they have and or will focus resources on moving forward. player/buyer interest can be nurtured or fostered but we still have power by choosing what is profitable with our purchases and how or where we choose to play. sometimes the tide of change is too much to overcome, but it isnt completely out of our hands.

How is this linear as hell with control at 8%, 2 interactive semi-aggro decks (humans and spirits) and Jund at 3%? Granted that there is a small prevalence of some linear combo decks, but even among combo there is diversity. Also, I don't see what is bad with burn at 12% in a field which is still coming back from the KCI ban.

not surprising to see burn failing to convert. its notoriously bad at doing so, and this is just another point showing that.
i was kinda surprised GDS didnt even break 3% on day 2, but its appearance in the top 8 makes sense. GB showing up isnt strange either. i still dont believe its an exceptionally strong deck, but i think the 'winners meta' makes it well positioned. so when most of its cards do good things improving its overall consistency, its a great place to be.
2 UR phoenix making top 8 is...i dunno. the deck undoubtedly had a major target on its back. so if anyone is collecting evidence that its problematic to make a case somewhere down the line; this result would be part of it.

I don't know that it matters though. The less of a spotlight due to coverage, I feel it will take a lot more to get public opinion moving against a deck.
yeah i was just saying that if a deck is ever going to prove itself to be a problem. prolonged success putting multiple copies into the top8 of GPs is one way to do that.
so we arent there yet, but this result is a step in that direction. really though if you look at the bar that decks like GDS or humans set when they exploded onto the scene, it should give you an idea of how far off that point is.
Seems like this was another "pick decks at random out of a hat" kind of Top 8, which is kind of where Modern has been at for a while. Wish we could have actually seen the decks in action, cuz that's so much more valuable, informative, and entertaining than seeing a bunch of card lists.
As for Modern as a whole, I guess it's good to just play what you like and not worry about metagaming or whatever, and just play what you like.
