I'm posting from the future. My favourite unban was Splinter Twin (Ancestral Vision is a close second).
Lol. Are you in the year 2022?

Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
Legacy - Sneak Show, BR Reanimator, Miracles, UW Stoneblade
Premodern - Trix, RecSur, Enchantress, Reanimator, Elves https://www.facebook.com/groups/PremodernUSA/ Modern - Neobrand, Hogaak Vine, Elves
Standard - Mono Red (6-2 and 5-3 in 2 McQ)
Draft - (I wish I had more time for limited...)
Commander - Norin the Wary, Grimgrin, Adun Oakenshield (taking forever to build) (dead format for me)
Bitterblossom, simply because of my love for Faeries. In that line of reasoning I also enjoyed JTMS and AV, even though they ended up doing nothing for the deck
Ok, it's now one month into the poll. Looks like a whole lot of people are glad that Jace got unbanned.
Well, he didn't break anything.. so I guess the unban of the blue gatewatch planeswalker is correct.
I took a screenshot, so as a remembrance of what the one month old poll looked like.
I don't know if I would put too much weight in that. It's more like almost all the rest were either inconsequential (most of them), or create horrible decks/play patterns (Valakut). Jace is something blue players want to hold on because they like the IDEA of Jace, but the card itself is painfully mediocre in today's Modern. Which is why my three foil copies are currently sitting in a binder instead of a sleeved-up in a deck, sitting next to my depressingly bad and horrifically expensive Ancestral Visions and Sword of the Meeks.

Glad to see another one who likes faeries. I never had a modern deck about them, but I have plenty of faerie cards.

Use them in UW control?
Actually what I was playing for a while. It's bad in my local meta and loses to too many things (slow clock, awkward answers). I have all UW pieces sitting in a pile. Currently have GDS sleeved up, and that's been OK.
I had to pick Valakut because it's the only card that had enough of an impact on the format.
Sword, Nacatl, Ancestral, and Bitterblossom all did absolutely nothing. Sword, Ancestral, and Bitterblossom all started on the banlist because they were scared from other formats. Nacatl got on there after they had one tournament with Zoo painfully dominant while nobody prepped Modern, and the offender (Punishing Fire) got banned at the same time. All of these cards came off and did absolutely nothing.
Jace and BBE both came off to revitalize archetypes, but haven't had a significant enough long-term impact. Jace just isn't seeing the play some people thought (it was never going to break the format), and sees play in some UWx control builds typically alongside Teferi. Recently Jund players have gone over to BG anyway, so they're perfectly fine without BBE. Both of them are fine cards seeing regular play, but not altering the landscape of the format in any significant way.
Valakut creates archetypes, and whether they're tier 1 or not, they're still recognizable decks that people respect. And to top that, Valakut has basically always been in something since it's been around, whether it's RUG Scapeshift, RG Scapeshift, or Titanshift. It's also a fairly different archetype than a lot of other things so it adds another dimension to the format.
Updated first post with info on dates in which the 7 cards were banned in Modern, so it's easier to see how long they were jailed before being eventually freed from the banlist.
Jace by a mile. Has made UW control (and a few other archetypes, I guess) quite viable again, which I will always see as a great - and necessary! - thing for this format. I mean, just look at the top decks atm (other than UW control) ...

Credit where credit is due, UW wasn't/isn't good because of Jace, and would actually likely function nearly as well without him. It's good because of Teferi, Azcanta, Field of Ruin, and Opt flipping Terminus at instant speed. Jace is like the 5th most important card in the deck, and often dead against many top decks. Personally, I cut his copies down to 1 for an extra Cryptic Command and 3rd Teferi.
Wild Nacatl is still winning against Ancestral Vision in our little poll. ^__^
Why few people voted for cat? Maybe because Zoo is not really in a good spot right now..
I like cats.. have adopted 5 real strays, and bought 8 copies of Generous Stray. But in online poll like this one, Wild Nacatl has no chance to win against the more competitive cards in the unbanned group.

I feel that Jace did cause some people to try going UW, but it was later discovered that Teferi is just as good as him. All I say is just theory.. don't own a Teferi or a JTMS.
Just want to give an update on this thread as it teeters pretty close to banlist discussion.
The topic itself has been fine to discuss the unbanned cards, but as per the subforum rules it is not the place to discuss future unbannings or bannings. The topic has popped up a few times now, so going forward anyone bringing it up outside of the appropriate thread will be infracted accordingly. I hate to be the fun police, but we have these rules so that every thread doesn't devolve into banlist discussion.
If you have any questions/comments/concerns then PM the mods and we can take care of it.
I like Valakut, The Molten Pinnacle. Unlike most of the cards on this list, it actually created a totally new archetype by itself. A while ago, RUG Scapeshift was super good, and Temur/Bring to Light Scapeshift is still played every so often. It's not an oppressive combo and while bing pretty uninteractive, I think it will forever be a balanced combo deck do to its limited speed and Wotc printing more and more land interaction in Modern like Field of Ruin, Alpine Moon, etc.
^
Agreed. Valakut decks have a unique playstyle, and not oppressive. I also think it's one of the combo decks that is actually fun to play against. Sometimes they use the valakut triggers to shoot creatures, sometimes they have the primetime backup plan. Only reason I did not vote it is because don't own a Valakut deck.

On that note, the next two should be Stoneforge Mystic and Splinter Twin, without a doubt.
