For me, it would be sad to see Faithless Looting. It would essentially die for Creeping Chill pushing Dredge over. Faithless Looting (just like Ancient Stirrings I guess) enables a lot of Modern strategies or make them much better. Without the card, Modern is less diverse.
*On a personal note, I am starting to get bored of Modern. People around my area know me as the "Modern dude," but I seriously am considering playing a format where I can win over 60% of the time (like Standard or Limited, which actually don't look too bad anymore). Maybe if there are some unbannings in the future, I'll be back, but right now seeing stuff on the ban list when Modern has become boring for me (because in the end, that's all that matters) is really a slap in the face.
I have been noticing as standard keep getting better people look at modern with much more scrutiny. Its hard to get behind modern right now given what it is now compared to other formats
1. Creature Toolbox with 3 Impervious Greatwurm
2. Jund, 4 Trophy, 3 LotV 1 LotLH, 4 Leyline of the Void Side
3. Nikachu, Merfolk, with 4 Surgical in the Side.
4. Burn, with 2 Bridge, and 3 RIP in the Side.
5. Dredge, with 4 Chill
6. UR 'Grindfather' Prison, this deck is pretty neat if you are into Lantern like stuff.
7. Jund, 3 Trophy, 4 LotV, 4 Leyline of the Void Side
8. Dredge, with 4 Chill
Shout out to Martyr Proc, in 9th.
Seeing 7 copies of Jund in the top 32 and 0 straight BG is pretty surprising. I've been seeing way more of BG in the queues and not much Jund.
Man, the Todd Stevens news is really depressing, he was a solid brewer for Modern. Shame he turned out to be a bad person... I suspect there'll be a DCI ban incoming along with his 3 year SCG ban.

4 women reported sexual harassment to SCG. A 5th woman in the reddit thread, who was actually a mod in Todd's channel and was a real life acquaintance of him, gave a personal account of hanging out with him and another friend after an event, and she said Todd kept trying to get physical with her, and she kept pushing him away, trying to make it clear that she wasn't interested. It culminated with them sitting at a hookah bar, and when their other friend got up for a moment, she says Todd grabbed her leg and put it across his lap. We don't know what happened with the 4 women that reported to SCG, or even who they are, but just what this one woman said is awful behavior.

4c Shadow takes it down with a Thoughtseize at 3, leaving him at 1, to swing with a 12/12 Shadow for lethal lol, quite a game.
Looking at the entire T8, I'm shocked that UW didn't do better than it did. But I guess it's just that nearly everyone was on Creeping Chill Dredge all weekend. That was a pretty epic final play, if at least a bit boring before the final few turns.

Nice, what an exciting game that is.
I guess it's true that life is also an important resource in this game. Death Shadow decks makes full use of that resource.

I don't know if Standard is actually that great. It's a whole lot better than it was before, but considering just how bad Standard was for the last 2+ years, that's not really saying much. I wonder if people are liking it as much as they are now by virtue of comparison more than it actually being that good on its own merits.

It's pretty easily the best Standard since Khan's block. As you said, that's not saying much, but I think there's a real reason why people feel that way. First of all, we have powerful answers in the format. Trophy, Vraska's Contempt, Rain of Soot, Settle, Lava Coil, etc. Lots of good removal in multiple different colors. Second, there aren't really any unbeatable bombs. There is no Ulamog or Emrakul, and no Hazoret or the Scorpion God. The most annoying thing is probably Carnage Tyrant, but almost every color has an answer to him. There are a lot of powerful cards in Standard right now, but nothing really stands out as THE most powerful thing. Teferi is super powerful, but the Frenzy red decks are keeping him in check, and the Golgari decks are keeping them in check.
Basically, Standard is good because of what we've always said was its problem in recent years: there's an answer to any strategy available in the format. Remember in SOI Standard where there was like no graveyard hate? Or Kaladesh Standard where there was no artifact hate? This is the first Standard environment where the Play Design team has had an input for the entire format, and it looks like they're doing a good job so far.

So Humans still King...Dredge is back for real apparently. Not enough easy life gain to counter Dredge with Creeping Chill lol.
MTGO Challenges are crazy lol.
I just think it's hilarious that Stoneforge Mystic is banned because it "limits equipment development" because something might be broken. Meanwhile, we can't seem to go without breaking Dredge every handful of sets.

I don't think that's the reason it remains banned. Is there a source for that? I think the likeliest explanations are ones you've already mentioned. First, that Wizards is super conservative with unbans and will delay them for as long as possible to ensure they are safe. Second, they also wait longer in order to keep high profile unbans on deck to freshen formats. And third, they want to link unbans to set releases.
Dredge is just inherently broken although really a 6 point life swing that is uncounterable and all you have to do is self mill? Clearly no one was thinking about Modern when that was approved. Sheesh is essentially a better Warleader's Helix yeah Helix is 2 more points of swing and instant but the sorcery speed is irrelevant for Chill since you never actually cast it. They should have tacked a mana cost on in it

You know, I'm really confused as to why they didn't add a mana cost onto it; just one mana would have made it of more reasonable power. It's not like this card would see play in Standard, so it's really just for Modern and casual. Whatever silly casual decks would be made around it would still be made with a mana cost, but it wouldn't be as annoying in Modern.
Granted, maybe this is just another Eldrazi or Death's Shadow or Cheeri0s where everything goes back to normal soon enough, but the decision to print it as it is, considering WOTC's self-admitted dislike of Dredge as a deck, is very confusing.
i dunno, creeping chill pretty clearly reads "this is for dredge, or for some other self milling deck that is for some reason not playing with dredge cards". i mean did anyone really read the card for the first time, and that wasnt what came to mind?
not to say that wotc doesnt miss stuff, or intentionally looks the other way when designing for standard; but cmon the set literally has narcomeoba.
even with the SCG and challenge results, the only thing that makes me consider that dredge isnt just the new flavor of the month was caleb scherer playing it. guy has a ridiculous win percentage, and one of the foremost specialists of storm but he puts it down for...dredge? he never missed a stride, even when humans spiked to its highest rep. dunno, maybe hes playing for some other reason that im not aware of.
i agree with @sicsmoo about the challenge results. not that i would have expected GB to show up in numbers, but that is a crap ton of jund. i mean...why jund specifically? literally everyone who posted on results playing GBx happened to be on jund by coincidence? unlikely, but im failing to grasp the rationale.
