Kicking things off in the thread, opening coverage with Faeries vs. Kiki Chord is awesome. Not sure if that's representative of the field, but hey, it's a cool opening.
I think we're going to see a big Storm showing this weekend. I'm also excited to get some GP data added to some of the analyses we've been doing, particularly one about player performance at Modern events that I've been tracking.
I think it's funny that they have an Exhibition Lantern-mirror best of 5 match played at 1/3rd of the speed. If I was that kind of person, I'd probably type "LOL" onto the internet.

Some fun brewy decks on camera today, and others that are tier 2 or lower. I know some people on this forum hate the fact that you can't really predict the field (SB lottery complaints and such) but I'm loving it. Commentators are also talking about how wide open the format is.
Corey Burkhart is just TOO GOOD. This game one against burn was so clean I can't even process it.
Edit: Man Corey is an insane player. 2-0 against burn, one of the worst MUs. Game two wasn't even close.
Damn that Grixis control vs Eldrazi Tron was depressing. Both games Corey almost getting there and losing on a series of top decks basically. Especially game 2, Sam Pardee (ETron) was with 0 lands T3. Still 2 Eldrazi temples count for more than 2 mana

Nice meta.
Oddly, they haven't posted the trial winners. They usually do that before round 3.
P.S. Rich Hagon is a champ, starting out the stream with 0.33x speed Lantern mirror . Better yet are the salty Lantern players *****ing about it on Twitter. Can dish it out, but can't take it. LMFAO

A good display of "getting it" from the coverage team.

I have to say that I am getting a bit tired of watching UR storm decks featured at GP Oklahoma. Judging from the standings, it seems like there are other decks they could show, but they sort of got stacked with storm players for whatever reason.

Sadly for those who want less Storm coverage, Storm is just really good. Good players tend to play it. As I said in another thread and this thread, I still think this is hands-down the best linear deck in Modern and it's not super close. If you're a player who believes linear decks are the way to go in Modern (many of the best players believe that), and you're a player who believes Modern's diversity masks a few top decks (many of the best players believe that too), then you probably play Storm. Tron and GDS are other options here, as I think these are also secretly top decks.
To be clear, I'm not sure if this will play out at the GP or the later PT. But I do think the pre-GP datapoints guide us in that direction.
I am just pointing this out to let players know to make sure you're dead before you concede. I am not going to criticize someone who's made it further than myself. This is part of Modern being such a diverse format. You'll have players that have rarely seen certain interactions between specific decks. They may have not even played against certain "common" (2% or more) decks.
*Cliffnotes- The card Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle checks on coming into play and then also on resolution. Probably not worded the correct way, but do you get the point? Each Mountain has to see 5 others enter play and then rechecks for them on resolution. Tec Edge, for example could stop any damage from occurring if used when 6 Mountains and a Valakut enter play if used at the right time.

The 1400 player cap on the GP is ridiculous though. I feel like there has to be more demand than that.

I also really liked the "Eternal Command" deck that was shown in round 2. I mean, it is a pile, but what a pile! Pulse of Murasa, Savage Knuckleblade, Surrak Dragonclaw and Thing in the Ice? Sign me up!

I'm a little worried how linear it's looking closer to the top players as this tournament progresses.
Sheridan, wasn't it E-Tron that you thought was one of the best decks? I said a bit ago it was heavily falling out of favor.
Big Tron certainly coming back though, only a matter of time.
We haven't seen too much Grixis on camera. Deck is still consistently putting people at the top 8 of nearly every tournament though
