I seen this card played alot in modern sideboard, especially in the Bant Eldrazi as their deck lack answers to faster creature decks that can overrun them before they draw their threats.
I want to ask, how good is engineered explosives? I played the card and I really dislike how mana intensive the card is. In theory, it can kill 3 mana enchantments, but I found that I needed 3 mana to cast it and 2 to activate (thats too slow and way too much mana spent).
Similarly, it can kill 2 death's shadow or deal with multiple affinity threats etc. But I found the card to be extremely luckluster in testing and too easy for your opponent to play around. How has the card performed for you and how do you normally use this card?

Yeah you usually have the mana to just play it and blow stuff up. If not you can hold it to threaten something and gain a bit of tempo. From an Eldrazi perspective...
Most often against top decks if you are playing it, you will be casting it for:
Death's Shadow = 1
Merfolk = 2 (very odd cases 1 or 0)
Hatebears = 2
Affinity = 2 (depending on the board 0 or 1)
Company = 2
Burn = 1
Bogles = 1
which are just the obvious cases. Eldrazi is usually ahead on 1-2 mana so it is fine to drop it and crack it in the same turn.
Based on what people have been writing online about the card, it seems like its just a weaker Anger of the gods for deck that cannot run red or is the flexibility to hit enchantments/ planeswalkers that good?

EE is amazing when the colors you play can't handle Artifacts/Enchants and certain creatures. Grixis Control/Shadow is a good example of why you would need to run EE.

Using EE as sideboard in my ur aggro deck. And it's been amazing - takes out token swarms, ensnaring bridge, bogles enchantments. Can also be recurred with Academy Ruins to blow up more things. Of course, my Academy Ruins is often a hot target of an opponent's Ghost Quarter. O_O

Not exactly.
You cannot use Anger of the gods to kill Death's Shadow or Tarmogoyf, but you can deal with them using Engineered Explosives.
