E Tron looking bad huh? People talking about banning DS while Eldrazi Top 8s every tournament and nobody notices it.
At this point is clear that there's no clear best deck in Modern right? Death's Shadow is very good and a little pushed and so is Affinity and Eldrazi.
I prefer to stay this way and not start the banning spiral.
So, odd question to provoke a little conversation, considering I haven't seen it discussed on here -- what are everyones' thoughts on banning Company and unbanning Pod? I've heard many people complain about Company being too random and hard to interact with, where Pod takes that and flips it by making it a lot less random but more interactive (since it's an artifact in the presence of Kommand, Pulse, D-Sphere, counters, etc.). I personally support the swap, but that's not really the point.
While I personally think Pod would likely be fine with Kcommand in the format (and to a lesser extent destructive revelry) I don't think the reasons for its banning have really changed, and a bunch of new busted creatures have shown up.
On top of all the original stuff, Felidar Guardian as a card makes Pod basically not able to be considered. The pod chains it creates of (finks -> guardian -> finks -> guardian -> kiki for example) are just too busted.
Having Eldrazi-Tron as the deck to beat is fine, imo. The deck does get its occasional nut draws, but it is very possibly to defeat; Affinity for example, or Titanshift, which Todd Stevens has said is his least favourite matchup with the deck.
I may however be biased since I'm a Titanshift player anyway and the idea of a lot of Eldrazi Tron decks to play against is always nice.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.

That would be an unprecedented ban and unban that I can just never see happening. To answer your question though, I don't Think a pod deck would be too good in the format though probably a tier 1 deck. As for gameplay I'm not sure what is more enjoyable to play with or against. Company has negatives(rng)but so does pod(repetitive gameplay). This method of banning seems to have extremely high downside with limited upside. I'm not sure what goal this accomplishes possible making decks like counters company or making another creature combo deck better
Would Birthing Pod even survive in the meta we are living in now? Company feels stronger than pod because of the fact it is a one shot spell that can only be interacted with via blue counter spells. Pod can get nuked by a lot of different cards and Abrade is actually really good against it along with K-Command.

1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!
I don't think Collected Company should be banned. It is such a fun card that enables interesting decks. It has empowered some decks like Abzan Company, Counters Company, and G/W Value.
However, it has rejuvenated old decks into new modern decks that see tangible results that would just go away if we unban pod. I speak of more of the tribal decks such as Humans, Elves, Slivers, Spirits and other tribal decks that run green. CoCo is a good enabler for tribal strategies and could with Ixilan open up interesting Merfolk lists. These lists could adapt to company ban, but I think some would just die off and not be able to recover their strength with Pod.
I am not sure what new decks Pod enables other than to homogenize some of the company value lists while not helping the tribal strategies.
I'm personally happy that all the storm decks that reached day 2 ended up in the top 16. I don't remember that the deck ever had such a good conversion rate.
On the other hand that exact number demonstrates what kind of an effect E-Tron has on the format. By pushing out all the other midrange decks the format is down to linear racing. There is no other way to explain storm's and affinity's numbers on day 2.
This effect, I feel, will become more apparent in the next month or so but I don't think I'm being overly paranoid when I say WotC needs to finish the job they've started when they banned Eye of Ugin (by banning Eldrazi Temple) unless they want a repeat of the last Modern PT.

In my dream, the world had suffered a terrible disaster. A black haze shut out the sun, and the darkness was alive with the moans and screams of wounded people. Suddenly, a small light glowed. A candle flickered into life, symbol of hope for millions. A single tiny candle, shining in the ugly dark. I laughed and blew it out.
Many thanks to HotP Studios. Special thanks to DNC for this great sig.

It wouldn't be a repeat though because there are other decks viable. Eldrazi aggro pushed everything out of the format not just other midrange decks.

These other decks are, to a point, the exact same decks that the people were dangling to demonstrate that Eldrazi Winter was a diverse (Affinity and Storm) field.
Quite simply Eldrazi Temple isn't a healthy influence on the format by any stretch of the imagination and it needs to go. The sooner the better.

Ooor they could give us a reason to play other midrange decks? (unban SFM!)

We'd need all the info. How many drazi tron made day 2? How much is it a factor that people are still just aiming for gds decks and getting got. Every time results happen people over react. Yeah it's a really good deck and it can do well but to be honest beating affinity 2-0 like that was mostly luck and saying hope I hit a chalice. There is still a lot of innovation to be done (g/r vengvine, dredge starting to run dispair, valakut running hour of promise, blue steel(im 3-0 vs dtron with it btw) d&t variants, gw value...) before we ban something. I said it before too but scuttle the wreckage imo is another card being printed to lined up very well to help against these types of decks. most of the games I saw on coverage didn't even seem like they were showing off temple but more so tron. Then you talk about banning tron and that's even worse imo. Just let it play out and give some unbans and see what happens.

Looks almost kinda maybe like this "Unburial Gifts" list?

It's some brew of Nykthos Green and the older 4C Gifts lists. Seems unlikely it will reappear too often.

Looks fine to me. A good mix of ramp, midrange, aggro, combo, and control. Hard to see a degenerate meta in that list of decks.
