Lands tend to be hard to interact with and disrupt outside of bloodmoon. tron is one of those decks that doesnt really need to do anything. it just needs 3 lands and a good portion of the deck finds the lands within the first 3 turns. paired with the fact it powers out very large threats for minimal investment makes it rough to play against. also when your sitting across from a player that goes from having 2 mana to seven is really disheartening. they drop a karn and what do you do? play a goyf? mabey even a good draw possiblly get 2 pieces of a 3 card combo which gets dismantled by karn? people use to complain about titan bloom because it could get 10 mana on 2. while not nearly as fast 7 on 3 is still really good and doesnt require nearly as many cards to do it.

My Decks that have been BANNED
DRS Jund | Kiki-Pod | Bloom Titan | Splinter Twin | KCI
I think the main reason is that is simple and very powerful. It give the impression that a plant can pilot it successfully and the loses tend to be miserable and the game are hopeless. I find that out by playing blue tron, sure is less powerful, but it have its good match up where you crush your opponent, but it looks like a deck that requires skill and give the impression that the game wasn't completely one sided, so the opponents don't get salty. Personally I know several guy who dislike "classic" tron but like blue tron.
The point is: people don't hate tron in particular, people hate deck that looks dumb and overpowered.
If all tron was blue tron there would be little to no hate for it. Blue tron is much more fair.
I think that with Gx Tron, the biggest issue is that there is a lot of hate that you can run for it, and it all works... but only if they don't get the nutdraw. Fulminator Mage, Blood Moon, Crumble to Dust all do a lot of work against Tron and can be run in the decks that have the hardest time with Tron, like Jund (and to a lesser extent Abzan)... but each of those hate cards is too slow if the opponent hits turn 3 Tron into Karn.
If the hate was faster, or more playable in 3 colour mana bases (You can't really run GQ in the Jund manabase, for example), people would be a lot less frustrated.

Well, I can saw a woman in two, but you won't wanna look in the box when I'm through.
I don't hate Tron, although any non-U version is easily one of my worst match-ups. I just dislike linear decks that refuse to ever interact and just serve as a brick wall that eventually says "time's up, you're dead."
I hate it because you're operating at double+ mana in a way I can't really interact with. I can counter the flashy spells, and kill the giant creatures, but you still are tapping for 7 a turn and it's only turn 3.
I think it's because people look at it wrong. A lot of people seem to see it as a 'big midrange' deck or something, a deck that should be doing fair things on curve and it's bad that this isn't the case. In reality, it's a combo deck. A slow, vulnerable, 4 card combo deck. The people who hate it in my experience are the midrange players who feel entitled to 50/50 matchups across the board because they spent a fortune.
Tron is good against slower decks, if you play a slow deck, be prepared for Tron or be ready to dodge or lose. I play a lot of Tron, it's a dog against the super fast decks, but with the exception of Storm, I have no issues with those (and Storm only because it keeps my cantrips banned). I just switch decks or suck it up that I will likely lose. I see Tron as filling some of the role of a proper control deck. Play a threat/deny resources, stonewall until you win.
Tl;dr- basically midrange players don't like a combo deck that TS doesn't beat and they don't feel they should have a bad matchup like everyone else.

Project Booster Fun makes it less fun to open a booster.
To be honest, i dont think wasteland Beat Tron.
Usually, Tron plays 2 basics, and decks with 4 GQ doesnt stop us at all.
Even if they 4 GQ and we draw our basics it doesnt matters.
The only things that can beat and bypass the Tron wall are aggro strategies.
Trust me, a turn 2 5/6 tarmo is waaaaay harder to deal with ( 3 push in main only) than TS, GQ or fulminator.
Even a blood Moon is not that good. Know why? Because de play 19 lands, 19 lands, with 20+ cantrips. Lands, no fetches, only pure lands. That way se Always end with 10+ lands on board if the game is going long enough.
I already won a game where i got GQ + surgical extraction at turn one on my Tron piece.
I still had won. Why ? Because my opponent kept a slow hand, so i was able to o-stone turn 5 into thragthusk turn 6 and wurmcoil turn 7.
So okay there is bull***** hands like the turn 3 karn but it's rare, i usually play a Big threat turn 4-5, sometime even later. In modern it's really slow, if you play aggressive Tron will not be able to stop you.
Let Timmy have his fun with big Planeswalkers and Eldrazi Titans. Do you really want to push these players out of Modern? Don't assume Timmy will just go to some other deck. They'll probably just go back to Commander.

This. If they ban Tron, I have a couple other decks, but I would not be building another, and if a steady stream of Burn gets boring, my Commander decks will already have Karn at that point

I don't mind Tron but I'd rather it be a deck you see once in a while not one you start to see popping up with much more frequency like we are seeing now with Eldrazi Tron
Eldrazi tron isn't really tron in the sense that they don't need tron, where other tron decks rely on getting tron or they pretty much lose. Tron has many variants as well so banning the urza lands affects them all except eldrazi tron who would continue to run temples and still be a force.

A force? If Tron got banned (which will never happen), colorless Eldrazi wouldn't be viable in Modern.
As a primarily GB/x player, I don't really care if U-Tron or Gx-Tron exists. But I hate Eldrazi Tron with a passion. Eldrazi Temple should have been banned along with Eye of Ugin.

Correct, our deck would be dead right along with all the other Tron variants.
From my experience people just want to ban the deck their own deck does poorly against.
That pretty well sums it up. /thread

personally, my issue is it has too many MU's were the outcome is more heavily decided by the cards in the decks than by the pilots. your 30/70 & 70/30 MU's ala tron v GB/x.
it's annoying, but i don't necessarily think that means its ban worthy, though its been several months since i really tried to keep up with where the meta's at, maybe it's banworthy now? seems preeeetty unlikely tho
I can't see them ever banning tron. Green devotion/tooth and nail can hit big mana early and can easily be destroyed by the same hate cards as tron, they are far from dominating even though a turn 2 garruk followed by a turn 3 titan into turn 4 T&N for Kiki and emmy is pretty sickening.lol
I don't even play karn, I run a full set of Ugin's and unless I get the nut draw with a mindstone I'm turn four at best.I get that draw as often as any other deck does. I don't see how that's so much more powerful than other decks that can win by turn four.
Now my lantern, taking turns or KCI trawler deck I can see how people really dislike those decks compared to tron.lol
Idk,in my opinion tron is another competitive deck that's here forever, like affinity, burn, fish, etc.

Some people have always hated "luck-heavy decks". Now, I'm not agreeing that's what they are. Nonetheless, people believe it.
It's one of the rare ones that hasn't been banned from existence, which must really rankle.
Then I formed UR Storm and Green Moon. Now I go hunting for Tron players, and they lose, lose and lose.
