So I have been wanting to make a troll deck that is lots of cards that are easily answered, but nobody expects them. Mana tithe is a perfect example, one mana counterspell is absolutely broke but all they have to do is pay one mana and it's a waste. However since it sees next to zero play in modern because of how easy it is to answer it, almost nobody anticipates it. I am looking to make a small collection of cards that are similar to mana tithe in that aspect. Dash Hopes could be very powerful played correctly, I thought of another card the other day but forgot it. If anyone knows of any cards like this please let me know!
Value is good. But Dredgevine isn't supposed to be about value. It's supposed to be about V-8; 2000 pounds of nitro boosted war vegetables. The more velocity, the better.

I play Mana Tithe in my GW hatebears. I usually side them out for games 2 and 3 though. All you need to do is hit one card and your opponent will play the match different. The card takes them out of their natural pace for the deck. Now they are playing 2 drops on turn 3, 3 drops on turn 4. Mean while you are dropping your things on turn.
As for other cards like that, they are far and few between and normally very narrow. In a format where you can see so many different decks in an event. Its hard to justify so outliers.

I guess another way to put this would be cards that are good in game one or the first time you play them in a match. Things your opponent doesn't expect and that are situationaly good. What are some cards that are really good in a game one but are destroyed by sideboards?

We are of the same heart. I love mana tithe and shadow of doubt. I have this weird mardu pox deck I play where winning game one is not critical. (but does happen as these cripple). Seeing their deck is the important thing. I play both stall cards. Then after I see their plans the extraction slaughtgames come into effect game 2 and 3. In place of both those slots.

Except, you have to leave a W open to threaten the Mana Tithe. Unless you have instant speed creatures, you aren't curving out either.
Its all in how you build your deck.
In what way are you building your deck so that you can curve out aggressively 1-2-3 while your opponent is also forced to respect Mana Tithe?
Hatebears is not about aggression, but control. At least my build is.

I like shadow of doubt, seems super fun and annoying. I'll add it to the list.
