Baneslayer Angel is the one card that doesn't see any play and I'm kinda surprised.
The problem with Baneslayer Angel is, that she is a question. Does your opponent have removal? No? Congrats, you just hard-casted one of the most fair and at the same time unfai cards, that exist and will stabilize. Your opponent has removal? Congrats, that Path to Exile negated your five-drop, before it could do a thing. Even a sorcery speed removal would have been enough to deny you the value. At five mana there are just other cards, that do not leave you completly broke, if they are answered. A card you might wanna try is Sigarda, Host of Herons.
Aside from that; I play a mono-white midrange list at moden events. The most striking traits is its useage of playsets of Oblivion Ring and Banisher Priest as well as Baneslayer Angel. Recently I also started playing Angel of Jubilation, because Lightning Bolt is at an all time low in my shop. Apart from that I run a little pet combo of mine in the deck, that consists of Spirit of the Labyrinth + Geier Reach Sanitarium and allows me to lock someone at zero hand cards, if they got their themselves.
I completely understand that. But looking at Tier 1, Jund, Eldrazi Tron, and etc. Do not play much to really stop a resolved Baneslayer. Path is a issue, but path takes care of everything from Tasigur to Siege Rhino. Hence my surprise, I would expect it to pop up here and there. Especially since the First Strike and Lifelink is incredibly relevant.
The decks that don't answer it can usually just ignore it and race (you might not live to turn 5 to cast it or die before it gets to attack).
Another good finisher that doesn't see play for a similar reason is Dragonlord Ojutai which can be more difficult to remove but also doesn't provide immediate value.
Also there are better 5-drops if you decide to play such expensive spells, like Gideon Jura.
Oriss, Samite Guardian in a UW control ... if you got one in play and another in hand (and a way to come back her) , you got a Orin Chant in modern.
The one i want to use is Korlash, Heir to Blackblade - can got some great value with shadow of the grave, with a lot of land in play it's easy to top deck.
i have always wanted to make my favorite kitchen table deck work in modern but the 4 mana cost of master transmuter is too high to be fast enough for modern.
the card is still worth alot even though its not played in modern, i believe EDH is the reason of its high price.
i wanted to try it with tron land but never got the time to do so and even there i believe it would be slower than with the greaves but i could actually cast the huge artifact i have in hand if the transmuter dies. i dont think its a bether approach since the greaves gives shroud
the deck is still a blast to play even though its not competitive.

wish soldier of fortune were modern legal. Course casting surgical extraction, extirpate, and others... is hilarious. 4 ghost quarters with the probe...
One of my favorite pet cards is Meddling Mage. I would love to play him in a UW hate bears package, but the only other card that I would want is reflector mage, and that just isn't good enough.

Reflector mage sees play in the Bant knightfall decks as a 1 of so he is fine. Mage is kinda narrow but it's decent in a world of less bolts.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
another one that I've been thinking a lot about lately is the titan cycle, particularly grave titan, and to a lesser extent inferno titan. 6 mana is a lot, but getting 10 power over 3 creatures, one of which threatens to very quickly take over a game if not killed asap seems worth it. It's even bigger than the delve creatures and always at least trades with death's shadows that are big enough to rumble with it. In a world where lingering souls is a legit threat this just seems like a supercharged version. Inferno titan and frost titan are bit harder to justify, although the ability to clear a board just on attack or lock down your opponent's threats shouldn't be overlooked.
Inferno Titan is pretty much a staple in "RG Ponza/LD" decks and can show up in the SB of "RG Valakut" decks from time to time.
Grave Titan doesn't see much play (besides an occasional slot in "Ad Nauseam"s SB) as there are no ramp/big "BG Midrange" decks right now with much cheaper threats like Goyf/DS and Tasigur/Angler.
I'm aware of why they don't see much play (mostly due to mana cost and not having a great shell), but they should definitely be powerful enough to at least look at. Especially since things like torrential gearhulk or elspeth, sun's champion can occasionally show up as a 1 or 2 of. Obviously grave titan is going to have a lot of competition from the delve threats and DS in any sort of controllish/midrange build, which make it less than ideal to play, but I've played plenty of games where tasigur has been payed for full cost or street wraith was hardcast. I'm not saying it's super amazing or is better than the delve threats, but it seems to line up well against a lot of what's going on currently if you can get there.
The cards you've mentioned are more than just creatures though, Elspeth doesn't care about creature removal and adds inevetability to the deck as it is hard to get through and the ultimate wins the game, it can also Wrath the board if necessary.
and I would think that a free pair of 2/2s with the potential to get more is roughly equivalent to a flashbacked instant (the only really notable one that's played is cryptic). Obviously it's not quite there, but this is a thread for cards that COULD be good but are missing something, and I feel that grave titan fits that mold.
Also, I'm trying to develop a deck incorporating Lantern of Insight, Ghoulcaller's Bell and some high mana cycling card...maybe somedoay it will be a good card...
All this talk makes me want a new format, there are so many sweet sweet cards not seeing play only because they're overshadowed by some old overpowered staple. Agreed not all sweet cards are newer and would fit in, but i think it's possible WOTC may find a good starting point for a new format that can be a brewer's paradise.
My almost good for modern card is definitely Goblin Dark-Dwellers, it's just so much value in the right build (the right build is basically a deck with lots of 1-3 instants and sorceries, which is pretty easy to do), and the menace clause accompanied by removal makes it a good beater. I ran a build with Blightning and some dorks so i can cast it turn 2 and GDD turn 4 and get Blightning back.

GDD also got worse recently recently after the rules change for split cards (it can no longer cast neither half of Boom // Bust from the GY).
It is probably best in a grindy "Mardu Control/Midrange" decks since those don't have Snapcaster Mage or Tasigur to grind out card advantage and it pair pretty well with Nahiri/Liliana that can discard spells for it to "flashback".
The 5-mana cost is a really holding it back though, if only it could be a 3/4 with no menace for 4-mana it would be much more playable.

Decks I'm playing in Modern right now:
URB Grixis Reveler (http://www.mtgvault.com/supast4r7/decks/modern-grixis-reveler/)
UB Faeries (http://www.mtgvault.com/supast4r7/decks/ub-fae-2/)

Why play her over Dragonlord Ojutai? He doesn't have to worry about removal until he is attacking.

Frost Titan is just not very good.
Torrential Gearhulk is only played as extra copies of Snapcaster Mage, without the free flashback spell no one would consider playing it
(like Pearl Lake Ancient and Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir that see no play).
Grave Titan can also be a backup finisher (to Elesh Norn/Iona) in a " Esper Gifts Rites" deck though.

Khalni Garden : chump block a fatty for days

Kinda slow but both Weathered Wayfarer and Knight of the Reliquary can find you the lands you want.
A 2/1 for 3 just isn't good enough (if it is not Eternal Witness).
Would be cool if Lands.Dec was possible in Modern.

"UW Emeria" is pretty close, though it doesn't usually play Snapcaster and having enough colorless mana for E.Displacer can be tricky.
