Don't you love that moment where you play that one card that straight up shuts down your opponents deck, and they are forced to remove/prevent it or their deck struggles to function? Blood Moon against Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle? Leyline of Sanctity against Burn?
What else is there? If a card suggestion matches the below requirements, please comment it below!
Cards should:
- Be CMC 4 or less, preferably lower.
- Be ANY color, including colorless.
- Function against a WIDE variety of decks & mechanics. (hint: cards like Leyline of Sanctity that disable an entire and widely used game mechanic are often the strongest.)
Cards like Leyline of the Void are what I'd consider sideboard cards. They have more specific usage, but this post is for for more multipurpose game stopping cards.
Despite that, if you want to share something with more specific usage, do it. I'll find use for all of your ideas
Cards like ensnaring bridge and ghostly prison tend to stuff any attacking focused deck. Cover of winter is a sweet variant of this effect.
Suppression field is just incredibly annoying for everyone.
Trinisphere and chalice of the void, along with cards like thalia tend to hurt decks like infect that cast lots of small spells.
Dovescape is pretty powerful as a lock.
Runed halo, like nevermore or lost legacy, tends to hurt decks reliant on single cards (valakut, lightning storm, etc)
Worship is one of the biggest "the game has just ended, but we'll keep on playing"
Story circle is pretty decent at hosing decks like burn, fish, elves, etc.
Linvala, Keeper of Silence, by stopping all activated abilities of creatures in play, hoses Elves to the point that they pray that the lord aggro plan and hitting 4 lands somehow (for Collected Company) gets them there. She keeps Melira Company from comboing off, but they're better at aggroing through her.
Damping Matrix does the above and also stops all activated abilities of artifacts in play at the cost of not working against mana abilities, so it also forces Affinity into a fairly bad aggro plan (Cranial Plating can't be equipped onto anything else besides its current wielder, Arcbound Ravager can't convert dying artifacts into more pump or kill itself to pump something else, Steel Overseer can't pump anything any further) and keeps Gx Tron from hitting the Tron particularly well (goodbye Chromatic Star, Chromatic Sphere, and Expedition Map). It doesn't hose Elves or Melira Company, though.
Blood Moon is good at stalling Tron if you're already playing it. Playing 3-4 Oblivion Stone and Ancient Stirrings lets them dig out of that a lot, and sideboard makes that even easier. If you want to "shut them down" it would be Sowing Salt effects.
A card that is pretty good at shutting some decks down is Runed Halo. Name Valakut against those decks, name Lightning Storm against Ad Nauseum, Borborygmos, Enraged against Grishoalbrand.
While not game stoping, I have stil seen this card winn games it has no right winning. Pack Rat, just play it, activate it and many decks can't beat it.

I have dyslexia, no I am not going to spell check for you, yes you have to live with the horrors of it.
In a way Worship can grind damaged based decks to a halt. Especially if you run it with hexproof cards. Back that up with some counters to hedge against sweepers. Then you just need to find a way to win the game.
Rain of Gore doesn't work with lifelink, which while not the primary source of lifegain for that deck, is still something to acknowledge.
Torment stops all life gain, regardless of source.

Cards I've thought of so far:
- Blood Moon (Complex multicolored decks, land based combos: Urzatron, Valakut)
- Leyline of Sanctity + Spellskite (Target)
- Madcap Experiment + Platinum Emperion (All damage)
- Chalice of the Void (CMC 1, and sometimes 2 spells)
- Pithing Needle (Activated Abilities)
- Nevermore + Lost Legacy (Single card reliant)
- Counterspells (eh.. these are another thing all together.. and I'd rather be proactive.)
- Gaddock Teeg (it actually stops quite a lot, especially game changing 4 drops like Scapeshift and Wrath of God)
- Torpor Orb (When this enters play, nothing.)

Dang it, I should have proofread my post more thoroughly. Stony Silence is still the better Tron hoser overall.
Ah well, at least Lantern Control also hates Damping Matrix, especially if you don't care about their Ensnaring Bridge...
magus of the tabernacle with ghostly prison is my go to combo against any creature aggro deck. (merfolk, zoo)
rain of gore just destroys souls sisters. everlasting torment isnt as good but you know...
scavenging ooze against goryo's vengeance is an instant win
ratchet bomb and or engineered explosives usually wins you the game against affinity and will 100% give you the win vs tokens
thats all i can think of that hasnt been mentioned...

Trinisphere does a pretty good job of slowing down the game.
Voice of Resurgence makes it so people want to play on their own turns.
Spirit of the Labyrinth makes things slow as well.
