Other than Fatal Push, I only see about 2-3 other cards that MIGHT be role-players in a few tier 3 or lower builds. IMO a very weak Eternal/Non-Rotating set, even though the Revolt mechanic has so much eternal potential.
If Push lives up to just half its hype, the entire set will be worth the single card. That said, I agree it's very disappointing we didn't get revolt Prohibit.
Outside of Johnny cards, Narnam Renegade is a promising inclusion in the Zoo decks running Kird Ape who would prefer the 2/3 deathtoucher. Another one is likely Renegade Rallier in Company decks (at least, if those decks return to the upper tiers).
While I'm still holding out hope of one day playing Baleful Strix in Modern, AER also gave Tezzeret decks some nice toys. Remains to be seen whether any of them stick.

With the way Aether Revolt flirts with cheating on costs in various ways, I'd be impressed if something isn't broken in some format somewhere.
Either the set's going to be a small army of mistake cards, or the set's going to be a showcase of how to push the envelope without destroying it.
At the very least I'm going to enjoy relearning the draft format while picking up Fatal Pushes.
Tried Hope of Ghirapur in Affinity maindeck and it was awesome. Gosh, that deck did not need another 1-mana 1/1 artifact flier, but it got one and it reaped the rewards. Popping it does surprisingly little against more controlling decks pre-board--notably, it will not stop instant-speed removal, counterspells, or Cryptic Command--but the critical mass of small evasive guys gets pretty obnoxious sometimes.
I actually believe that Sram's Expertise has a decent shot of seeing some play. I've been testing it in a UW Control shell with Beck // Call, and putting seven creatures in to play and drawing four cards is no joke.
I was into it at first as well, but its rarely going to be worth it over other 4 drops. Yes Srams + Beck is powerful, but on its own beck is *****. Meanwhile, Srams on it's own is okay, but pretty much any shell that isn't full of sorceries isn't going to want it. If it sees play, it will be in BW tokens, without the beck combo
I'm already worried about Yahenni's Expertise and Bird Brain. When will wizards get the message that fast mana/ free spells will ALWAYS be a problem. Legacy has shardless agent flipping thing Ancestral visions which is already a pain in the neck. Imagine this Yahenni's Expertise with Beck//Call.

In regards to the new Saheeli Deck (cannot figure where else to post this). Doesn't she go infinite with Sun Titan if one of her in graveyard and one of her on field?
She does indeed do that, you can even do it with 2 in the gravyard.
The 'new splinter twin' is functional, but unless somebody makes an amazing shell I think kiki chord is just better and it is a descent tier 2/2,5 deck.

I have dyslexia, no I am not going to spell check for you, yes you have to live with the horrors of it.
There are a lot of good zero mana artifacts and they all turn into mox if you are playing improvise cards. Currently my plan is to do something like:
The Moxxen:
4 mox opal
4 Engineered Explosives
4 Chalice of the Void
4 Astral Cornucopea
4 Everflowing Chalice
2 Chimeric Mass
4 Pentad Prism (costs 2 mana but u get the point)
The Payoff:
4 thoughtcast
4 reverse engineer
4 whir of invention
The engine:
4 Surge Node
2 Coretapper
Lands:
4 Glimmervoid
4 Spire of Industry
4 Darksteel Citadel
2 Inventor's Fair
2 Academy Ruins
Any thoughts on Felidar Guardian over Restoration Angel in Kiki-Chord? Effectively does the same job but can also blink noncreature permanents if needed.
Any thoughts on Felidar Guardian over Restoration Angel in Kiki-Chord? Effectively does the same job but can also blink noncreature permanents if needed.
Serious question here, what noncreature permanents does Kiki-Chord run? Last I checked, besides lands there isn't anything, but I'm not up on recent versions of that deck, so I honestly don't know.
They run none. Some run Nahiri but that is irelevant.
I have speculated on a version with saheeli and felidar. Both of them have some good synergi with oath of nissa, as well as sun titan. Flidar can be brought back by Revilark. But I am pretty sure it is sub-par to what kiki chord usually do.

This thread is full of idiots... Lightning Bolt is NOT being reprinted.
Many times has a writer in Wizards said so, because of the plain and simple fact that it's too powerful for what it costs. x/3 creatures shouldn't be able to die at instant speed for one mana without a signifigant drawback. (like PTE giving you a land)
I absolutely guarantee that LB will not be printed in M10, and you can quote me on that.
I'm not big on Solemn Recruit, but I think Countless Gears Renegade has some real potential with flicker effects. The only thing I think that holds it back is Blade Splicer. Looking at it though, I wonder if there could be a tokens build abusing the Renegade, the Splicer, Flickerwisp and anthem effects... There is brewing to be done!
The Deadeye Harpooner is so close for me, but only being able to target tapped creatures is too big of a hurdle to over come in my opinion. I like that it destroys over a temporary exile, but I think the tapped thing is too big of a downside. Also both Banisher Priest and Fiend Hunter are Human, which has much better tribal support than Dwarf or Warrior right now. If only we had Edgewalker Clerics would be legit.
Right now, I'm wondering where Aethersphere Harvester fits in Modern. The life gain and evasion on a Vehicle is dang handy, but UB Faeries already has too many sorcery-speed cards in Bitterblossom and Collective Brutality, Affinity doesn't like needing to spend 3 mana, and BW Tokens sees it as a large removal magnet.

Decks I have in my bag of tricks- Needless to say, someone who wants to play will probably have a deck UB/x Faeries UR Storm XURWB Affinity G Elves UW control
Talking about the new vehicles I haven't seen Untethered Express played anywhere (even Standard) though it seems rather decent with good stats + evasion and minimal crew cost, it also grows in a similar manner to Raging Ravine.
Can it be of use in some midrange/control strategy (probably with tokens to crew it from Lingering Souls/Bitterblossom) ?
Me, I'm curious why Vengeful Rebel sees zero play despite being easier to kill stuff with than Wasteland Strangler (and having the same mana cost and P/T).

I'd say that being 4 cmc with a similar growth curve as Raging Ravine, needing to be Crewed, and not providing protection from anything (unlike Swords) makes midrange not so likely to play with it.

Maybe it would be good in the sideboard of BW Tokens? In games 2 and 3 opponents will have sideboarded out their removal, so it being a removal magnet shouldn't be a problem.

Generally though, you are correct about the set being full of Johnny roleplayers. There are almost too many to name: Sram in Cheeri0s, Saheeli/Guardian, red PolymorphShape Anew, Electromancer 5-8, Whir of Invention in a variety of artifact decks, Metallic Mimic in tribal (for Timmy!), Walking Ballista with Enduring Renewal, expertises with Ancestral Vision, various Crackdown Construct combos, etc.

I wonder where some of the new white cards can slot in:
#Solemn Recruit - a growing double-striker seems interesting (maybe for D&T/Hatebears).
# Countless Gears Renegade - a rather cheap option for 2 bodies for 1 card.
#Deadeye Harpooner - conditional removal on a stick (like Banisher Priest/Fiend Hunter), like a white overcosted Harbinger of the Tides.
The Deadeye Harpooner is so close for me, but only being able to target tapped creatures is too big of a hurdle to over come in my opinion.
