So I currently have Infect built and don't really play it. It's undeniably powerful but very linear and boring in my opinion. I recently found someone that has Bant Eldrazi and wants to trade into Infect. I find Bant Eldrazi a fun deck and it seems solid. We would keep most of our staples like Hierarchs etc and mainly trade parts one another needs for the deck. What do you guys think? I just don't want to trade into a deck that would become horrible with a meta shift or banning.
Yeah, I think objectively Infect is actually more powerful it's just boring to play (imo). A playset of Goyfs is a sick prize!
To each his own of course but I think Bant Eldrazi has less relevant lines of play to it than infect. It's pretty straightforward. I'd definately try it on Cockatrice or Xmage first. But I consider Infect to be a very fun deck (from either side of the matchup) because one mistake and you're dead and the infect player really has to know/feel when to go all-in.

If you think Infect is boring I don't know how much more you will like Eldrazi to be honest (unless you just want to play with the cool Eldrazi cards). Eldrazi is pretty linear. Basically a worse version of Infect in my opinion.

Wow, really? I figured with the Displacers, Drowners and Thoughtknots there would be more lines you could take than with Infect.

Well yeah it is slightly more interactive, but it really wants to just drop a turn 3 Smasher off a Heirarch and swing for 6.
Basically 90% of the time it foregoes the need for interaction because of the power level of it's creatures. Jund, for example, goes after the hand, then bolts the bird, then drops a Goyf or Lilly. While these are all great things to do, Eldrazi just says well here is a TKS on turn 2 and a Smasher on 3. Deal with this. Yes it could play the interactive game if it wanted too, but usually just presenting lethal on turn 3 or 4 is how the game ends.
Perhaps I am jaded because as a Jund player my deck is basically strictly worse than Eldrazi lol

Agreed, Infect is as boring as a water flavored popsicle.
@OP:
Is it just between Infect and Bant Eldrazi, or are you just want shuffle between what is tier 1 currently? If you are not locked solely into what's good and popular I would go with decks such as Grixis Delver and Jund/Abzan. Both are good options that will likely never see a ban and there's so many interactions that you'll hardly ever grow bored.

Nah, I just saw someone want to get rid of Bant Eldrazi and asked if they were interested in Infect. I actually already have Jund, Burn, Abzan Company and UWR Nahiri so I have a solid base of decks to choose from.
Between those 2 decks infect is more likely to see a ban than Bant.
If we're going to evaluate them on the possibility of getting banned, I feel I should point out that Infect is far more likely to survive a ban. Seriously, I think you can ban any one card in Infect and it would survive; it would be worse, sure, but it'd still be a decent dec. If Bant Eldrazi gets Eldrazi Temple banned, that's lights out for it.
I'm surprised the overwhelming opinion is that infect is boring. Having played both decks I feel like infect requires careful sequencing and knowing your matchups against certain decks very very well, whereas Bant Eldrazi wants to windmill slam bombs as fast as humanly possible.
I also think it depends on your meta. Some decks make infect a bye for the infect player and the same could be said for Eldrazi.
They're both really good decks though; I would say your happiness is the determining factor.
First and foremost I will say that don't support nonsense called Bant Eldrazi. Eldrazi (although it's not in the same form as it used to be) caused too many dark moments in Modern (or in Magic in general).

What does this even mean?
I think I told it clear enough but this is just my opinion, feel free to disagree with it and I have no idea what is it so hard to understand here.
You're saying he shouldn't switch to Bant Eldrazi, which you consider a 'nonsense' deck because Modern was in a bad state when people played 3 cards that Bant Eldrazi plays now in a completely different deck back when Eye of Ugin was still legal?
Not so much hard to understand as completely nonsensical.
I am going to lock this thread on the basis of several reasons. It has run its course and OP has been given lots of replies and opinions on his question. It has become ban talk in disguise, so lets keep that to the banlist thread. It has got off topic, and it should have probably started in the What Deck Should I Play thread in the first place. Dutch253 if you want to keep the discussion going then feel free to ask it again in the appropriate thread.

I know the feeling, I also play Jund.
