Of course, you board in Leyline vs Mill, do would you board in Leyline vs UW Control/Midrange?
That was the main question I was aiming at. Cause the answer is probably no.
Greetings,
Kathal
No. Even against UWR, I don't even consider Leyline obviously. I can pretty easily land life gain to offset their "Burn" plan and even if I don't get life gain, it's pretty easy to do lethal before they Bolt/SnapBolt and Helix. It gives a deck that wouldn't have game against Bogles a fighting chance. I guess with Bogles, you can do somewhat decently mostly because for someone to prepare for your deck means they give up so much against the rest of the field, especially if they have to face Affinity and Dredge.
I would say that against a deck that has Gifts Ungiven and discard, I would definitely side in Leyline. You'd be surprised how many players don't know that Gifts targets.

I've been running one maindeck and another sideboard in a UW Midrange / Control deck and I've been positively surprised. All modes are relevant. The untap step works really well together with Ojutai or even just to produce a couple of 'surprise' blockers. The gain 4 life can also extend your life a turn or even be used to kill an opponent's Death's Shadows however cute that actually is
Is it worth playing this card instead of timely reinforcements?
I'm on the fence. Timely is 2 more life and 3 guys (Which is huge) but this card is instant and a kill effect.
I've replaced one timely with it. Whether it's better or not I think depends on your deck. In a deck like Jeskai Nahiri it's rarely better as one of the modes is dead most of the time since you have no dudes to untap.
I only ever played one timely. So If this replaced Timely I would have zero timely.
My deck is a non-nahiri Jeskai Flash variant. Which might make this card better.
My own opinion on Charm like spells such as this one is that you run these mainboard game 1 and then throw something more specialized in for games 2 and 3 if needed. Blessed Alliance has at least one mode that is relevant for each match up, but isn't better than a more specialized answer when it comes to modern.
Opponent sacrifices an attacking creature? Path to Exile or any number of situational destroy cards in white.
Gain 4 life? Divine Offering, Dazzling Reflection, CurseBreak, Azorius Herald, pulse of the fields (which people forget even exists), more recently Rest for the Weary, and the one just superior life gain specialist card is Sun's Bounty. The final one combos well with decks that tend to have things die a lot to sacrifice as it can let you pay for card advantage. Unfortunate that so few spells actually used the Recover mechanic since it was limited to Cold Snap.
The one mode that is kind of unique is untapping more than one creature. The best options I could find that are similar are either specialized in themselves and cost a little much, such as kamigawa Call to Glory. Also, the sacrifice attacking creature clause does work well against decks that only attack with one or two creatures per combat phase such as Boggles, though I haven't seen boggles in ages.
1. (Ravnica Allegiance): You can't keep a good esper control deck down... Or Wilderness Reclamation... or Gates...
2. (War of the Spark): Guys, I know what we need! We need a cycle of really idiotic flavor text victory cards! Jace's Triumph...
3. (War of the Spark): Lets make the format with control have even more control!

Nice to see another off the beaten path jeskai deck. i run jeskai kiki, because it's fun, different, and difficult on myself lol
I just bought a playset of these for 1.24. Definitely worth it. I am going to try them in the sideboard at least. I mean think about it, how many times does etched champion swing in by itself? Raging ravine and celestial colonnade by itself? stupid boggles is on the rise up here in my meta, and This happens all the time. I love the versatility of it, and the fact that people will not be expecting it.
I ran [[Blessed alliance]] at EMN prerrelease and I was like, wow, this is some playable cardboard for modern.
I've been trying some copies in bant knightfall and it wasn't really good. My idea was to use the life // removal modes and, from time to time, untap knight of the reliquary to block + fetch a land to make it even bigger, making it a double removal spell. While it seems good in paper, it just didn't came up.
Many successful esper control lists already run 2-3 copies in the 75. The most used mode there are life and removal, but the untap mode can be relevant too (baneslayer angel is often played from the sideboard)
I have 2x Blessed Alliance in the side of Jeskai Nahiri now. Edict effects are incredibly strong right now, blowing out infect and zooicide, whilst also taking care of 4+ toughness creatures that survive bolt, most notably Reality Smasher. I was always a fan of Celestial Flare which just always barely came up short but the lifegain option pushes it over the top
Also doesn't make you discard a card to kill smasher. I've been using Blessed in my sideboard in Soul Sisters and Martyr Proc and been happy with it when I need it.

Thanks you very much DarkNightCavalier for the Sig.

Also have seen someone use the lifegain mode on their opponent to kill a Death's Shadow in a casual game, though I'd consider that mostly a fluke.
Abzan Traverse / Traverse Shadow / UR Kiki
It only kills Emrakul when he's already 6-for-1'd you by attacking. Kinda awful.
