What are some very silly 2 card synergies? I have only 2 of them thought up right now. Different from combos where you outright win. Just some really synergistic cards that won't win on the spot, but it creates a really silly situation where the opponent gets a head scratcher in trying to break up the interaction.
Leyline of Vitality + Protean Hydra
He'll never die through damage. Granted he'll also never get big either if cast on turn 1. But you'll have an eternal 0/1 wall that nobody will bother wasting their path to exile on.
Pithing Needle + Knight of the Holy Nimbus
Here's another really silly 2 card synergy that'll have Knight not die unless he gets Exiled. You name Knight, and nobody can waste 2 mana removing his protection. So you'll always have a 2/2 flanker for 2 that can easily get buffed through counters and other synergies from other humans/knights.
Those are the only two I can think of. Anyone have any more?
Phyrexian Unlife + Form of the Dragon: If your opponent would deal lethal damage while your life is positive, your life becomes negative but you don't lose. You won't get poison counters either unless first strike was involved, or your opponent played a burn spell later. Next turn, Form of the Dragon resets your life to 5 and Unlife can protect you from lethal again.
Dovescape + Meishin, the Mind Cage: It's a soft lock where casting spells does practically nothing. Just don't play any spells or lands from your hand - not hard to do when Enduring Ideal forbids you from playing spells anyway!
No one spoke. There was no need. The threat of the Eldrazi presented a simple choice: lay down your arms and die for nothing, or hold them fast and die for something.
Silliest of them all, though it requires three cards instead of two...
On battlefield: Mycosynth Lattice and Bludgeon Brawl.
Cast Vulshok Battlemaster and when he enters the battlefield, all noncreature permanents will attach to him including lands and planeswalkers. Imagine of the hilarity of your opponent needing to reach across table to tap his lands that are equipped on your guy.

You do know that there's no rule that creature cards have to be in contact with whatever equipment/auras are attached to it.

There is an unwritten rule. I wouldn't allow someone to just say their permanent is attached I would make them physically do it if they want to play with me.
On MTGO, it is definitely a rule.

I want to do it now. Like... In EDH. More reaching.

Do it in a R/G "Reach matters" deck with a bunch of Spiders. Reach.dec. Reachception. Yo dawg, I heard you like reach so I put some reach in your reach so you reach while you reach. werd

A friend of mine has a casual deck designed to do silly things with Ink-Treader Nephilim. Inky's partner in crime is Nivmagus Elemental to eat all the extra copies he doesn't want to resolve.
One of my favorites is Bearer of the Heavens + Gift of Immortality. Stack the triggers so that the Gift returns before everything explodes and you can repeat it on every player's end step. Plus you get a hasty 10/10 to swing in an empty board.
Turn 1: On the draw, draw a card. Play no cards, end turn. Discard a Shadowborn Apostle to get down to 7 cards. Pay 2 life, cast Surgical Extraction to remove your Apostle's, then play another extraction to remove the other Surgical Extractions. Now your deck size is as small as you want.

Stonybrook schoolmaster + wanderwine prophets for infinite turns provided they aren't blocked.
One of my faves is Knowledge Pool + Curse of Exhaustion . Your opponent can't cast spells ever!

Edit: I missed the bit about modern section, sorry!
Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and Eye of the Storm. I love it in my mU Edh deck.
