That Nahiri ult when Emerakul was in his had was silly.
Yes. Seemed like a stress misplay, especially when he riffled through his deck and couldn't find the Emrakul on the first time.
AD NAUSEAM ON STREAM. Also, Abzan. GET 'EM ANDREW BROWN!
Hopefully we see more coverage do the "timeshifted" match. It's a significant improvement over the old model of replaying old coverage or watching SCG token ads.
They were doing timeshifted before, but I think the speed that they are replaying these at is much better.
Edit: I think this ad naus player has forgotten what deck hes playing
@LS
Well, then I guess Wizards doesn't get credit for much of anything at all. They just get a string of failures outweighing even fewer successes.
Well, the quote you posted is kind of vaguely worded, but the impression I got from it is that Wizards of the Coast previously contracted (which I believe means paid) with third parties to cover some Grand Prix. SCG's statement indicates that they no longer do that, and SCG was uninterested in providing coverage as a result, as Wizards of the Coast wasn't paying/compensating them; fair enough. Channel Fireball apparently figured the exposure from coverage would be worth them having to pay for it themselves, so they did it.
Or at least that's what is the case. It's very vaguely worded.
Though considering what a debacle Grand Prix Charlotte has apparently been, Star City Games probably dodged a bullet by not having to cover it.
That G/W/b Tokens deck is is pretty sweet. Pulling for that deck to make top 8. Also, that Bant Eldrazi deck can be brutal with the some draws. Gotta love GPLA right now.
UB MILL! I'm so happy. Currently 7-0-1 and about to go 8-0-1 after it crushes these Eldrazi chumps. Hope our Mill specialist brings his Bridges.
EDIT: hehe. Watching Mind Funerals for twenty is beautiful.
EDIT 2: hehe. Mill won.
Too bad for Lossett he wasn't playing Emrakul. That card is absurd in the Mill matchup. Tron vs. Mill is sort of weird in that it's almost just a question of whether that Tron player has Emrakul. If they do, they're in great shape. If they don't, they're in big trouble.
It was actually getting smashed by a mill deck that persuaded me to put Emrakul back into the sideboard of my Tron deck.
Well we certainly seen plenty of variation in the meta at GP LA. Unfortunate about Charlotte. Did we hear any attendance numbers before the software fail?
So about mill: sorry but it really seems to be tedious and ultimately unfun. Honestly can anyone say they would wanna see it as much as other more traditional lists? Well I guess Nahiri was good for something...

2,400 at Charlotte. 2,241 at LA. Charlotte attendance got gutted after the software disaster though. Potentially as many as 40%-50% of the GP may have left. Still calculating the attrition.

Thats too bad. As well as modern is doing you kinda hate to see this. As for Mill, well it looks like, at least on day one, a brilliant meta call. Ktkinshinx, I'm happy your happy.

It would be a serious problem at like, 8% of the metagame. But as a neat Day 1 deck on stream with a great record, it's awesome.
Preliminarily, here's how things looked at Round 7 (the latest round we have data from LA and from Charlotte).
For LA, we had about 1680 people in R7, down from a 2241 peak. That's about 75% of the starting attendance and a 559 player drop.
For Charlotte, we had about 1470 people in R7, down from a 2400 peak. That's about 61% of the starting attendance and a 932 player drop.
The Charlotte drop (-932) is only 373 more players than the LA drop (-559).
Need to see a more complete picture because this is just R7 data.
Is that kind of drop rate normal? I mean if people are enjoying the game you wouldn't expect them to drop so readily. I suppose though that after a couple losses you know your not gonna day two so dropping maybe preferable.

The mill deck was awesome to watch, but you know that speculators are licking their chops ready to buy out many of those cards. That's the main thing I hate about seeing fringe decks get attention like that.

I think people go to events like a GP and really want to make Day 2. Once they're out of the running, most will head to side events or get a bite to eat with friends/chill with new people rather than just wait round after round when there is no chance for prizes. Sure, the games can be helpful, but you can get games and matches in off the GP floor too (and probably more).
@ktkenshinx Just a note about the software. WLTR is actually pretty new but just as *****ty as DCIR was. Once they make the cut to day 2 they can switch to something like WER or DCIR if any of the scorekeepers still have a copy (I'm pretty sure at least one has a copy). WER should be able to support a Day 2 group and WOTC can recover the data later to reconstruct the tournament. At least that what's I expect. Maybe they'll get WLTR working.
Right now my facebook feed is half prom photos and half people complaining about how *****ty Charlotte is. I feel sorry for the poor judges and scorekeepers that have to deal with this.
All estimates, but it appears GP Charlotte ended R9 with about 1072 players (44% of starting 2400) still in the event. GP LA ended R9 with 1172 players (52% of starting 2241). So overall, if those numbers represent the Day 1 situation, it may not have been that bad.
Shame the software went down. Were there filler games during the downtime or am I going to have to sift through the coverage vods? I hear the CFB coverage was better than normal?
The events at GP Charlotte was quite an experience. A lot of players were really upset and random pairings tilted a few. Was both entertaining and frustrating at the same time.
I feel bad for SCG in the whole thing, since it's not their fault. Though it seems that them not streaming the thing might have been a blessing in disguise as several hours of waiting for broken software wouldn't have gone over well on Twitch. CFB stream isn't too bad though, which I'm happy about. Hope they stream more events and clean up some of the rough edges. I love SCG coverage but burn through it so fast I need more stuff to play in the background while working.
