My friends and I are teaching magic to one of our friends. It was near the end of the game and my friend had over 60 1/1 goblins and 7 life. The friend we are teaching had a 9/9 with trample and had something like "hunt for the weak" and destroyed his 2/2 and delt 7 damage to him. Out of know where she won. Is that the best way to deal with hoards of goblins? Any suggestions?
First, I'm 99.99% sure trample only affects combat damage, so something like Hunt the Weak never damages a player.
On to dealing with tokens. It depends a lot on the colors you are playing. Sweepers like Pyroclasm, Anger of the Gods, Day of Judgment/card], or End Hostilities are good. I've always loved Echoing Truth as a fringe card against tokens. Golgari Charm has many other uses too but restrictive colors. Rakdos Charm for hilarious blow-outs is another possibility (though more of a pipe-dream).
EDIT: I think I was slightly confused with your post. Trample can be a good way to deal with tokens (though as mentioned it doesn't work with the fight mechanic). In mono-green there are some creatures that can't be blocked by anything with less power. Here are some of them (originally I tried to link to the Gather search results, but that didn't work):
Jund charm and rakdos charm are versatile cards that deal with them but also do other things.
I once beat emrakul, the Aeons torn with 16 goblins, I saced a bunch to the annihilator trigger took 15 then untapped and drew goblin bushwacker :D. This was turn 3 or 4, welcome to modern.
No one spoke. There was no need. The threat of the Eldrazi presented a simple choice: lay down your arms and die for nothing, or hold them fast and die for something.

They at least allows you to attack through them. Cards like I mentioned above are still the best bet for more permanently dealing with the tokens.
