Brain in a Jar looks like a new card with some awesome potential. it uses charge counters which can be rapidly stacked with cards like coretapper, energy chamber and more.
get a large enough stack going, game winning sorcerys can be played several turns ahead or even played at instant speed as the activated ability breaks the "sorcery barrier"
my first thought is, what would be ideal or game winning?
Put any kind of ping or burn spell on the stack.
Activate Jar with 9 counters. Worldfire

Alternatively:
Get it to 12 for Enter the Infinite and some Ad Nauseam-esque win.
Though I wonder how consistent and fast the counter ramping would be.

I agree Day's Undoing is a good interaction for Brain in a Jar, however, it will not end your opponent's turn. The card checks if it is your turn, if so end it.
here is the 'fun' version I will use with friends. you want to ride those bird tokens to victory off of beck // call. alive//well is a good 1 drop on top of visions to hit with brain as you will get at least a 3/3 and 2 life. you get 2-1's with the fuse removal spells and they can fit 2 and 3 for brain activations. I hit cryptic with a brain for fun in a game last night so I felt like including it since this deck is really mono blue splashing nonsense. your other 4 is the alive of alive//well. hit // run is removal but is also an overrun I should probably have 1-2 more of to actually kill my opponents fast with those birds. muddle searches up brain, no explanation needed here. voltaic key is extremely good, it lets you consecutively cast 2 spells with brain or if you have 5 mana up you can reset brain to the right amount of counters and scry and cast the spell you need. commandeer and disrupting shoal are in there for the abundance of uncastable blue cards without brain in play.
the card I am most interested in testing out is research // development. I have always smack talked the left side of this card but with a properly constructed sideboard it could be a cool way to improve your g1 against lots of decks provided you are not under lots of pressure and choose to cast that side rather than the development side. feels like glittering wish but will likely be a lot worse in practice.
this version is a lot less 'fun' at the kitchen table, but maybe more competitive? I haven't tested either of these decks but I will tomorrow after I open two more brains cheers
Could be good for brews but I don't see any serious potential in this card. It seems too clunky to me and its ability is rather expensive for what it does.
The ability is expensive for what it does? 1 mana for a Beck and Call or Cryptic Command seems incredibly in-expensive to me.
It's definitely not "fast", but the effectiveness / value proposition is pretty great... Fused Beck/Call is a full value Lingering Souls plus an Opportunity, plus whatever value you get for playing it in response to your opponent making creatures. Alive // Well or Far // Away are essentially two Time Walks against Burn or Zoo, and I mean a Hill Giant isn't all that bad for 1 mana. That's all in addition to any synergy Brain has with the rest of your deck, like casting board wipe sorceries at instant speed.
You also have potential for absolutely gross blowouts like using Flesh // Blood to exile a Griselbrand and dome your opponent for 10, then attack with your 10/10...
It's just a silly card that's a lot of fun to play with. Like you said, it's great to brew with, maybe not ever going to win a Grand Prix but I'll have my fun at FNM and online.
So I was also watching the PT videos last night and I love what Finkle did with Season's Past and I think the main difficulty with a deck like that in Modern is that they are sorcery speed. Brain in a Jar might be able to fix that where if you use your 5 CMC for Dark Petition you could use the following activation to get back all the other "brain in a jar spells you cast at the end of the following turn at instant speed.
