1 - It's all hype, and is to expensive for being just a SB card.
2 - Really, it's just ONE answer for this nonsense.. And has to be reliable enough to show up either in your opening hand, or within the next turn or so. So that means it has to eat up 4 of your SB slots.
3 - I wouldn't even consider running this MB, even if every deck at my meta ran Eldrazi.. Meaning Game one will always be bad for me against them.
I really think a new deck has to rise up from all this and be good enough to be a new contender for most decks.. Not just one card.
This is a copy-past from the Little Kid thread; just wanted to share my results with others to try and solve the Eldrazi Menance.
I've found the match-up against colorless Eldrazi to be about 60/40 after 40 test games. I played against the list LSV was using at the PT, and here's the version of my deck I played;
Against Colorless Eldrazi, you will lose to their insane opening hands. There's nothing you can do about 2 Mimics turn 1, and a Thought-Naught Seer on turn 2 and another on turn 3. You just lose.
But as for the actual games of magic you play, which are far more common than them going completely nuts, it's a good match-up. Our removal is fantastic against them to start with. Our creatures are as large or larger than most of what they play, specifically when we attack with exalted. The massive amounts of life gain ensure we're hard to race, and creatures like Voice, Finks, and Souls tokens are unappealing to attack into and turn 3 for 1 blocks into effective 1 for ones.
If the game goes late, we're very favored. We have superior topdecks in general, specifically the absolutely back-breaking power of Wilt-Leaf Liege. Liege turns Finks into a Reality Smasher killer, Smiter and Rhino into comical giants, and makes Souls exceptionally quick as a clock. Dismember is their only out to Liege, and we have other cards that demand removal.
Our clogged board states are just better than there's in the mid-late game, and because we play more removal to draw into, in addition to Liege and Souls, it's easier to break them.
In terms of speed, I'd like to mention again their nut draws slaughter us. But their normal draws are no faster than our normal draws. We can dump our hand by turn 4 or 5 easily enough, which keeps us in the game and threatening their life total/protecting our own.
At the end of the day, Eldrazi is probably stronger against the metagame. But I think Little Kid can beat colorless Eldrazi at least 55% of the time. I still need to do more testing post-board, but the Eldrazi deck can do quite alot (-4 Guide -4 Chalice, +3 Gutshot +3 Sower +1 Rachet Bomb +1 Relic), so I think they'll do better post board than main board. That said, I can bring in strong cards as well to either make myself harder to kill (Worship) or additional exile removal. I think I'm going to be favored overall, against that specific deck.

I believe WoTC's new policy is to make sure that every color can enjoy the exciting gameplay mechanic of making undercosted dudes and then turning them sideways. Clearly the future of magic.

Please try UR Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker. In the face of the Eldrazi menace, it may be weak, but it does well in the rest of the meta. It even has a better GBx matchup than Twin did!

This is becoming one of the most EXPENSIVE decks in modern people, and it uses lands for the most part that are useless outside of 1-2 decks. I just went to a modern tournament tonight, and the only person playing the UR list was a friend of mine as far as I saw.
You can EASILY play Eldrazi without fetchlands at all and without Cavern of Souls.
You absolutely need the Eldrazi lands to make it the deck it is.
So thats your "actual" investment. The other cards arent expensive.
The deck in general is cheap, manabases are the most expensive part of any deck in modern and prices go up if a deck turns out to be strong.
Ofcourse if you are doomed to play just what you have and you start with NOTHING of the deck and want to build it, its a lot of money and people dont have that money.
A modern deck that costs you around 600 bucks is still a "cheap" deck, as most mana bases can easily cost you that much allready.
And most of the cards in the Eldrazi deck are indeed cards "everyone" has, or could have without a problem.
The deck wont suddenly be a hit at FNM level, because players are usually slow at adapting anyway. But thats the place where it doesnt matter, it matters at high level of play , and if you choose to play at that level, you just buy whatever deck you want to play or just lend the cards from friends that might not choose to play that deck (bad if you ALL want to play it, good if some choose to play Affinity).
Price isnt an issue at all for any serious player (and FNM level is "not" serious).
Price only becomes an issue if the cards are SUPER expensive and low in numbers (talking power here).

The funny thing is that even with the huge spikes online the deck is 'only' 473 tix. That is cheaper than affinity, GBx and Abzan Company. It's also only 50 odd tix more than tron and infect. Maybe it might push people out playing with paper but online will be totally different. Why spend 800+ on GBx to play a straight up worse deck?
Just play the deck. Can't beat em, join em. Everyone just keep playing the same deck till Wizards fixes their sh*t. In fact, don't but any of the new sets. Why bother if Eldrazi is the powerhouse to play haha. Hit em where the wallet is.. They're bitting the hands that feed them as far as I'm concerned.

The trick is that they can't both run Warping wail and Chalice of the Void at the same time if they are trying to stop Painter's Servant. The chalice would counter their own answer to the servant and the colorless version of Nameless Inversion is exactly the same. So by running one card, you've already screwed them indirectly on another. Playing sideboard isn't measured counter to counter, it's how well you play poker.
The point of the servant is to force them to make bad sideboard decisions. If they run chalice they likely wont get it out in time to stop the servant, but if they don't run it they leave themselves open to other threats in order to deal with it. That is why it is a good sideboard tech to use. Against my Bx it's a laughable sideboard because I'm running Wasteland Strangler and more removal than the PTQ listings do.
What is more likely a counter to Painter's Servant is good old Lightning Bolt, which the UR list isn't running since they favor dismember and don't usually care to lose 4 life. The other problem is Inquisition of Kozilek and other discard cards, but if we are going to worry about that we might as well say that every card with CMC below 4 is bad against eldrazi. And if we say Thought-knot seer is a counter to it we might as well just say "Hey, they countered all of magic!"
We know what they can potentially do to our hands or cards in play. The point is that the cards we do have in hand are at least better match ups for the deck than what we would have vanilla. There's no such thing as an invincible silver bullet that has no counter card to it.

in the past years wizard also ban standard legal cards: shaman and Treasure Cruise for example..
Now is too soon to talk about ban, but shaman was banned because jund maked 5 or 6 decks in a gp top 8 (but the gp was winned by melira..), also melira was banned because after the shaman ban and rhino print maked multiple top 8 in large events with lots of decks. Twin was banned because win 2 protour.
This deck at the first appearance do 6 on 8 in a protour top8, the other 2 decks was in top 8 for some fortunately pairings, because in one moment was 8 eldrazi in top 8. No jund, no twin, no melira do the same at their first appearance in a tounament like a PT.

And probably, after selling a lot o OTG booster they say " we must safeguard the variety of the format so eye of ugin is now banned"

You can suggest them to switch to Eldrazi, which is definitely the best Modern deck for the moment.
And also think a little bit how to deal with Mirror match-up...
And you can not seem to understand Twin was on the watch list for at least 9 months prior to its ban. The Eldrazi have been around a whole 2 weeks. If the Eldrazi are still dominating in April, they will get hit. But give the deck time and multiple data points to prove its dominate before making a knee jerk reaction to something you dislike.

Lapille was interviewed 9 months prior to the ban announcement. He was asked what he feels would/will happen come January if said shake up was thought to be needed by Wotc. Without hesitation he said ban Twin and ban Bloom (Bloom was a T2 deck at the time). I dont know where the link went, someone else posted it.

And if you knew anything about how sets are made, the set was finalized months before April. It takes months (6-9 months) to print what they do, package it, and get it to where it needs to be on a certain date. At the time MM2 went to press, its possible the deck was only on the watch list and no bean had been decided. That didnt happen till it was too late into printing. Another good reason why Twin wasnt hit earlier.
Eye is the biggest problem. It allows Mimics and 2/2 Endless Ones (If I'm not mistaken) for free, and with Urborg out it becomes obscene how quickly they can dump their hands.

Sure I'll give it a go, I have a bunch of value cards since I bought into splinter twin when snaps where around 25 usd. I'm currently trying jeskai midrange and the latest blue moon list from the pro tour.
Honestly I wouldn't bought into eldrazi unless your inversion is minimal or you just needed the actual value cards like cavern of souls (even then there's risk of a reprint), but overall I would skip any modern event (unless you are certain of a non eldrazi meta) and wait for the ban.

Ill just say this.. if you check the modern portion of the PT, you will see that there was a lot of different decks at 9-1 (not just a bunch of eldrazi). Unfortunately the draft portion had eschewed the results even more, since a lot of top pros were playing eldrazi and a lot of people with 8-2 or better in modern portion (that werent eldrazi)had bad draft records which threw them out of the top 8. If you complain, complain about it looking at the full picture, not just what you want to see..

Ban the temple, restringe the eye to one copy, and the eldrazi decks are out and tron is happy.
But you also kill the fair Eldrazi decks (like the Bx variants). Folks love to hop on the Painters Servant bandwagon but why not bring back in Torpor Orbs? They shut down TKS and Mimic triggers. This could slow them down enough to let you handle their threats. It's still vulnerable to them dumping a bunch of Mimics and Endless Ones for free but thems the kicks with a lot of decks and their nut draws.
Which personally I don't think WOTC should just ban Eye or Temple right away like that. Give it time to develop and see how it runs, but with Servant out there every deck has a sideboard option which can severely cripple Eldrazi if they do not have a response right away.
Assuming they can get their hands on them. I don't think there's enough to go around given what TCG player looks like.

1 - It's all hype, and is to expensive for being just a SB card.
2 - Really, it's just ONE answer for this nonsense.. And has to be reliable enough to show up either in your opening hand, or within the next turn or so. So that means it has to eat up 4 of your SB slots.
3 - I wouldn't even consider running this MB, even if every deck at my meta ran Eldrazi.. Meaning Game one will always be bad for me against them.
I really think a new deck has to rise up from all this and be good enough to be a new contender for most decks.. Not just one card.

Against Colorless Eldrazi, you will lose to their insane opening hands. There's nothing you can do about 2 Mimics turn 1, and a Thought-Naught Seer on turn 2 and another on turn 3. You just lose.
But as for the actual games of magic you play, which are far more common than them going completely nuts, it's a good match-up. Our removal is fantastic against them to start with. Our creatures are as large or larger than most of what they play, specifically when we attack with exalted. The massive amounts of life gain ensure we're hard to race, and creatures like Voice, Finks, and Souls tokens are unappealing to attack into and turn 3 for 1 blocks into effective 1 for ones.
If the game goes late, we're very favored. We have superior topdecks in general, specifically the absolutely back-breaking power of Wilt-Leaf Liege. Liege turns Finks into a Reality Smasher killer, Smiter and Rhino into comical giants, and makes Souls exceptionally quick as a clock. Dismember is their only out to Liege, and we have other cards that demand removal.
Our clogged board states are just better than there's in the mid-late game, and because we play more removal to draw into, in addition to Liege and Souls, it's easier to break them.
In terms of speed, I'd like to mention again their nut draws slaughter us. But their normal draws are no faster than our normal draws. We can dump our hand by turn 4 or 5 easily enough, which keeps us in the game and threatening their life total/protecting our own.
At the end of the day, Eldrazi is probably stronger against the metagame. But I think Little Kid can beat colorless Eldrazi at least 55% of the time. I still need to do more testing post-board, but the Eldrazi deck can do quite alot (-4 Guide -4 Chalice, +3 Gutshot +3 Sower +1 Rachet Bomb +1 Relic), so I think they'll do better post board than main board. That said, I can bring in strong cards as well to either make myself harder to kill (Worship) or additional exile removal. I think I'm going to be favored overall, against that specific deck.

You take a turn off and a use a card while they continue to advance their gameplan.

So yeah pretending everyone has these lands sitting in their binder waiting to go into action is a joke. This is becoming one of the most EXPENSIVE decks in modern people, and it uses lands for the most part that are useless outside of 1-2 decks. I just went to a modern tournament tonight, and the only person playing the UR list was a friend of mine as far as I saw.

You absolutely need the Eldrazi lands to make it the deck it is.
So thats your "actual" investment. The other cards arent expensive.
The deck in general is cheap, manabases are the most expensive part of any deck in modern and prices go up if a deck turns out to be strong.
Ofcourse if you are doomed to play just what you have and you start with NOTHING of the deck and want to build it, its a lot of money and people dont have that money.
A modern deck that costs you around 600 bucks is still a "cheap" deck, as most mana bases can easily cost you that much allready.
And most of the cards in the Eldrazi deck are indeed cards "everyone" has, or could have without a problem.
The deck wont suddenly be a hit at FNM level, because players are usually slow at adapting anyway. But thats the place where it doesnt matter, it matters at high level of play , and if you choose to play at that level, you just buy whatever deck you want to play or just lend the cards from friends that might not choose to play that deck (bad if you ALL want to play it, good if some choose to play Affinity).
Price isnt an issue at all for any serious player (and FNM level is "not" serious).
Price only becomes an issue if the cards are SUPER expensive and low in numbers (talking power here).

PLEEEASE people find a good answer for eldrazi. I don't care if something is banned in a few months imagine playing modern like this for the next few months. It's even more broken than the treasure cruise months which I actually quite enjoyed (and I didn't play UR delver)
The funny thing is that even with the huge spikes online the deck is 'only' 473 tix. That is cheaper than affinity, GBx and Abzan Company. It's also only 50 odd tix more than tron and infect. Maybe it might push people out playing with paper but online will be totally different. Why spend 800+ on GBx to play a straight up worse deck?
The trick is that they can't both run Warping wail and Chalice of the Void at the same time if they are trying to stop Painter's Servant. The chalice would counter their own answer to the servant and the colorless version of Nameless Inversion is exactly the same. So by running one card, you've already screwed them indirectly on another. Playing sideboard isn't measured counter to counter, it's how well you play poker.
The point of the servant is to force them to make bad sideboard decisions. If they run chalice they likely wont get it out in time to stop the servant, but if they don't run it they leave themselves open to other threats in order to deal with it. That is why it is a good sideboard tech to use. Against my Bx it's a laughable sideboard because I'm running Wasteland Strangler and more removal than the PTQ listings do.
What is more likely a counter to Painter's Servant is good old Lightning Bolt, which the UR list isn't running since they favor dismember and don't usually care to lose 4 life. The other problem is Inquisition of Kozilek and other discard cards, but if we are going to worry about that we might as well say that every card with CMC below 4 is bad against eldrazi. And if we say Thought-knot seer is a counter to it we might as well just say "Hey, they countered all of magic!"
We know what they can potentially do to our hands or cards in play. The point is that the cards we do have in hand are at least better match ups for the deck than what we would have vanilla. There's no such thing as an invincible silver bullet that has no counter card to it.

And if you knew anything about how sets are made, the set was finalized months before April. It takes months (6-9 months) to print what they do, package it, and get it to where it needs to be on a certain date. At the time MM2 went to press, its possible the deck was only on the watch list and no bean had been decided. That didnt happen till it was too late into printing. Another good reason why Twin wasnt hit earlier.
Sure I'll give it a go, I have a bunch of value cards since I bought into splinter twin when snaps where around 25 usd. I'm currently trying jeskai midrange and the latest blue moon list from the pro tour.
Honestly I wouldn't bought into eldrazi unless your inversion is minimal or you just needed the actual value cards like cavern of souls (even then there's risk of a reprint), but overall I would skip any modern event (unless you are certain of a non eldrazi meta) and wait for the ban.
