So now that the spoilers been out for a while, what does everyone think the new modern staples coming out of the set are going to be? I think there are some strait upgrades over previous cards for infect and some new comers like Thought-Knot Seer, Sea gate Wreckage, and Goblin Dark-dwellers.
The card I'm thinking of for infect is Slip through space, as it outright replaces a card they are running that has rebound.

You mean replacing Distortion Strike? The +1/+0 is huge - there's no way it replaces Distortion Strike.
I do think the card is worth more than the +1/+0 in most situations. This doesn't mean that Distortion Strike is suddenly obsolete, but I could see people going either way with it.

Yeah, the card is going to give you a chance to draw into gas, which is a huge perk and reduces the need for something like Serum Visions. Slip Through Space will also see play in URX Prowess decks.
I'm not going to name staples, because that implies that I already know what will stick and what won't (and I don't). Instead, I'll name cards in the set that have potential, and I'll name what decks I think they could fit into.

This looks like most of the stuff I've had my eye on as well. I think Sea Gate Wreckage is huge, and Stormchaser Mage makes me want to play UR Tempo pretty much singlehandedly. This set seems pretty great from a modern perspective.
Yeah, this one really made up for the "meh" that was Battle for Zendikar. Even if you count the Eldrazi, only a handful of the cards have truly made a splash (and those only did because of pre-existing support, really).
Hissing Quagmire is 100% guaranteed to see play in Obliterock and will be tested heavily in Jund/Abzan lists.

These days, some wizards are finding they have a little too much deck left at the end of their $$$.

I know I want to nab the new Nissa before Zen launch just to make sure I get a good price on her. I have no idea what is going on with Kozilek's Return on TCGplayer, but it seems like people are really banking on BRX eldrazi or something. Honestly, I think Nissa fills a good spot in modern in a lot of GB and GW builds since she helps rush strategies thanks to anthem and can wall non-trample decks.

Other than that, I don't see much for Burn which pains me.
Burn has a neat Sb card in the form of the 1R devoid shock to deal with pro red critters.
Yeah, the card in question replaces GhostFire, which is just horrible, but was one of the only means to deal with pro red.

Distortion Strike is only good with Wild Defiance. Blighted Agent and Inkmoth Nexus generally don't need any help in becoming evasive. Wild Defiance makes Distortion Strike better by turning your regular, non-Infect creatures into credible threats. A 2/1 unblockable Noble Hierarch or Dryad Arbor for two turns is laughable - 5/4, not so much. Throw another pump spell into the mix and your opponent is dead from 15 life, maybe more.
Slip Through Space lacks the +1/0 boost, AND the card that it draws into is is neither castable for free nor guaranteed to trigger Wild Defiance, unlike Distortion Strike's rebound half. The drawn card isn't guaranteed to make the creature evasive again either, so you might hit them with an unblockable guy the first time around and have it walled by a chump blocker on the second attack.
The one good thing about Slip Through Space is that it feeds your graveyard immediately for Become Immense. Even Artful Dodge doesn't do that (well, not unless you want to lose the option of flashing it back).
Reality Hemorrhage is instant speed compared to the artifact, which has to be played first and left sitting out there or used immediately.

I'm actually not too sure about that card. Deathtouch has always been more of a defensive ability since the opponent generally knows you have a deathtouch creature on the field and will act accordingly. I'd rather run Treetop village for the extra power and trample.

I agree completely with the OP. I run a jeskai prowess deck and Slip Through Space is the card that I am most excited about. It happens to work extremely well with Geist of Saint Traft also. I think this card will be a modern staple for sure, especially given the sad state of cantrips in modern. I also agree that Oath of Nissa will help a couple of green decks become more competitive (mono green devotion in particular). I think rothgar13 listed just about every card I pre-ordered :).
Oath of Nissa can also see a ton of play in GW hatebears since it slots in very nicely.
Yup, I've been testing it in that deck and it feels pretty good. The issue often is that you have the Leonin Arbiter and not the Ghost Quarter or vice versa so this really helps. I've even added the some Flickerwisps back in the deck for some sweet CA but I'm not yet sure whether that is the way forward.

On mtgsalvation people don't want to discuss ideas, so I give people something else to discuss: my controversial opinions.
There are a lot of cards that have a good chance of seeing play, but I think Natural State is the only one I'd call a likely "staple". That card will be in sideboards for the rest of eternity. (It competes with Nature's Claim but it wins at least some of the time.)

When you peer long enough through the depths, the depths peer also through you.
I'm thinking Slip through Space looks like it will come ahead when your opponent removes your creature, digging you towards another one. I am thinking that its going to be countered due to lack of target enough that it might be a wash between the 2.
