Its more like a prison deck no? Although prison and control kinda overlap, yeah?
Depends on how you define prison and control as archetypes. Some consider it a separate archetype from control, but some consider it a subtype of control.
I cant argue with that, people need to start looking at fringe answers is all.
You don't need anything fringe, though. Most of the stuff that beats Affinity beats this as well. But people have been skipping on Affinity hate due to assuming that Kolaghan's Command is keeping it down, then losing to artifact decks like this (or Affinity) due to their negligence.
No. You beat it by not relying on drawing 1 card a turn. If they can get to the point where they mull everything relevant the game is done. Things like Thirst For Knowledge are way better against the deck because you can find the hate. Otherwise they just get rid of it.

Too late. I just checked 25 online stores for 4 specific Lantern cards and I found exactly 1 of those such cards. But I did find 3 of them at my local LGS store.
Yep. The only round I didn't predict was the top 8, where I thought Burn would beat Lantern. After that, I was spot on in all of the remaining top 8 matches. Now I REAAAALLLY wish I had kept my extra copy of Lantern.

This. Either digging multiple cards down or instant speed draw, or preferably both is how you beat the deck.
Thought Scour
Anticipate
Telling Time
Thirst for Knowledge
Cryptic Command
Ancient Stirrings
And so on...
Lots of common cards plus stuff like suppression field just destroy it. Just need to adapt!
Someone actually cast a Pithing Needle naming Codex Shredder on me. I was pretty surprised to see Pithing Needle in someone's sideboard.

I actually noted that in a previous post, that cards like Thirst For Knowledge (or anything that gives you card selection like Anticipate) bypass it.
Nevertheless, while they can get rid of hate, they can only get rid of so much. Look at Brian's deck, for example. What artifact-related hate does he have? He's got 2 Ancient Grudges in the sideboard, and... that's it. That's his full defense against an artifact heavy deck (I suppose to be fair Pyroclasm is good against Affinity). If he had packed more, then his opponent would've had a lot of trouble getting through all of it. And again, things like Shatterstorm (which Inquisition of Kozilek can't get, by the way) or Vandalblast aren't fringe cards, they're very playable against decks like Affinity or even Tron (as much of their hate against Twin is artifact-based, like Spellskite and Oblivion Stone).
Great final and entertaining commentary, all though they seemed to miss the fact that Spellskite semi-deals with Keranos.
It was, but with all those Roasts and Twisted Image, it's kind of hard to maintain a stay on Keranos. Zac respected Keranos after G2 and he didn't want his opponent to cast it since the deck has no realistic way to dealing with it on the battlefield.

Personally I don't think Brian needed more (although results say otherwise obviously). Affinity is already a dog to Twin to the point where some Affinity lists compromise their main decks and side boards just to fight the Twin menace. Two Ancient Grudge should be enough for Affinity, Tron, and any other random stuff that comes up in a tournament. He can't prepare his sideboard for a deck that unlike Affinity, actually has a good matchup vs. him, and has 3 Welding Jar in their SB.
You can't really prepare for a deck that 2 people out of 1500 played. I know I wouldn't.

Ahh I didn't see your post before. It's still not complete though because they run spellskites and academy ruins. The deck is fragile, but less so than people think. The fragile part isn't the lock itself, its finding it.
Still I think the deck is just well positioned and that people aren't used to playing someone who is actually good with it. The deck is fine, but there aren't many who have put in the time to get good with it like Zac. I think this win says more about Zac's play ability as well as his ability to catch people off guard, than the full viability of the deck. Similar to how Justin Cohen blew people out by using Bloom before people really were used to it.

He respected it in game 2 as well, he just couldn't do anything to stop BBD from getting it. He had a mill and a shuffle and he knew BBD had two card draw effects. If he went for the fight he would lose and be down his Lantern in the exchange. Instead the better option was to try and find a Spellskite to slow down the Keranos.
I have to run 1-2 Shatterstorm in my sideboard. I thought 2 copies of kolaghans command and 2 copies of Wear / Tear would be enough to deal with affinity but but it might be take out 1 Kolaghans command and bring in 1 shatterstorm. People at my LGS will be playing this monstrosity now.
