What green decks are you running that is aggressive, wants 1 drop beaters, and ISNT zoo? Green stompy? Doesnt play nice with Experimental One. RUG? Swiftspear, guide, delver are all better, and the 2 mana dudes in abbot, snap, goyf, are all better than him. Nacatl decks? Better options, like steppe lynx
Scythe Leopard is SEVERELY well rated. It does less damage than lynx, pretty much any average you use. And by the time lynx is crap, so is leopard. The difference between 1 damage and 0 isnt much when your on top deck mode.
It isnt that scythe is a bad card. Hes just worse than every single other 1 drop you could play.
It's still a neat little tool for one drop Naya no?
na, way too low on the powerlevel to even be worth testing.
Well, you can't get more than 4 Excavators/Jwari Shapeshifters out of it due to the 8CMC restriction. So what you really need is a lot of Allies already present on your side - something like 7 or 8.
I still think new Gideon is the better card for Ally decks. March From the Tomb is only good at letting you play catch-up; it does nothing if you're ahead and there are no Allies in your graveyard.
Exert Influence is way too expensive to see play. Threads of Disloyalty is the only good Mind Control, and only because it costs 3 mana. Nice flavor text on Exert Influence though.
Prism Array just won the Search the City runner-up prize for being the second most useless rare enchantment that costs 4U. If it was 0.0 in Limited it might have dethroned Search the City. Honestly, what the heck is this card good for? You spend prodigious amounts of mana for effects that aren't even card advantage. Is this a budget Cryptic Command (tap all, scry ~ draw)?
After seeing Transgress the Mind, I doubt we will be getting an Inquisition of Kozilek reprint, which is a real shame for aspiring black players. I don't think the card will see much, if any play, due to the mana cost, even it it exiles, and is a nice pairing the Inquisition. One mana two much for me.

I think that could have been a one mana spell. Would have been nice as a budget inquisition.
On another note: is Awaken Cancel the most unoriginal name ever printed? It sounds like a name they used in development and then couldn't be bothered changing it.
EDIT: and then he realized that the card hasn't been fully spoiled yet
Just want to say that the new discard spell hits 3+ casting cost so I don't see how this could in any way be a budget replacement to IoK nor rule out the possibility of an IoK reprint

Wrong. That's exactly my point, Delver and Swiftspear are NOT better in the 1-drop. Trust me, I'be played temur delver dor years now and in Modern it has always been too unreliable. Plus it always forces you to play a 12/13 creature. 18 land deck which has a sucky threat density that doesnt work in a non-FoW, non wasteland environment.
Switspear is terrible without Treasure Cruise in non hyper aggro or Burn strategies, because it makes you tap out and is not good when holding counterspells. Trust me, as I said I'm an OCD tempo brewer and I test a LOT of hours
Scythe Leopard fits exactly that spot in RUG strategies by letting you play more creatures and lands (more midrangey but staying "aggrocontrol") and not 29 spells, and works perfectly when holding countermagic
Not convinced at all: you have to drop a fetch every turn AND fetch before attackers (which can be akward especially if you search for ravs) for it to hit like a Nacatl. And hitting as a 3 3 is the best case scenario: even if you play a high amount of fetches, some turns he will only hit as a 2/2. It seems like a lot of work to play a bad imitation of Nacatl, worse than kird ape who basically doesnt see play any more

As far as others saying that Transgress doesn't rule out Inquisition; have you been paying attention to how Wizards has felt about Thoughtseize? They feel it was a mistake, so I doubt they will print another high power dicard spell along side another discard spell that covers it's weaknesses. I would love to be proven wrong, but I don't see it happening.
I think that the fact that they print Transgress as an uncommon suggests no IoK reprints. Unless they bump it up to rare. Which I guess they could do. Transgress + IoK as uncommons in the same set just feels weird to me.
Ooo, we finally got Patriarch's bidding. Albeit for one specific creature type and with mana cost restriction.
Let's see:
4x Akoum battlesinger kills them.
4x Halimar Excavator kills them or you can just fill your GY with it.
1x Hagra Diabolist + 3 1cmc allies deals 16. Diabolist + clone + 1cmc ally is 18. Ondu cleric+anything puts you very high against decks that care about health. Bala Ged Thief+anything wrecks their hand. Tuktuk Scrapper+anything wrecks affinity. Jwari Shapeshifter helps every one of those.
The WB manland is not bad. The fact that it dies to Bolt makes it far worse in Modern than it would otherwise be, but I think it still has a shot of seeing play. Lifelink is a sweet ability for a land to have. I don't even think it's automatically bad against decks with Bolt: if you stabilize against Burn, 2 life a turn quickly puts them into a spot where they can't topdeck the win. You're pretty happy when they're forced to spend a burn spell on a land in a spot like that. Obviously you don't activate it when they have a full grip, but when they're in topdeck mode it's pretty good.
It also doesn't stop any creatures played in any deck where the 4th turn is relevant. It'll stop Goblin Guide, Monastery Swiftspear, or similar all day long, but the decks that runs those don't get you to T5. Against any Grixis deck it chumps Tasigur or Angler once, for 4 mana, and then causes you to lose the land drop.
It may be usable in that Mardu Control list that was nothing but Removal, but that's about it.

Oath of the Gatewatch; the set that caused the competitive community to freak out over Basic Lands.
I'm pretty impressed by Brutal Expulsion. It looks great as it has so many options around it. Venser's spells, bounces creatures about to combo off, kills weenie decks and things like Liliana of the Veil! It seems to have some game no matter what the situation calls, which is also why Cryptic Command is so good. It doesn't replace itself, but I can see it slotting into some tempo decks very nicely.
From Beyond is another nice one. The ability tacked onto the end is worth the extra mana over Awakening Zone for sure. It is also a Bitter Blossom effect which is nice for chumping vs decks without reach like Jund. I think this will be a fun one to watch, even if it doesn't have any competitive play in its future.
the new bounce/burn is interesting, and I would've been really psyched at 1UR, but at 4 ccm, I don't know if just playing more Cryptic commands wouldn't be better than this card (just as Venser)

"Exert Influence" is a Mind Control that can be Snapcastered but needs 4 colours in order to hit 4/X's such as Tasigur. Probably not good enough still...
March from the Tomb is just not as good as Rally in the same combo situations you have been described. Lets say you went the self mill route to drop a bunch of Allies into your yard. If you cast Rally EOT (because it's instant speed) for 5cmc you can get MORE than 8cmc back and combo someone out. the problem being is it just isnt fast enough. If it was a 4 drop or less and didn't have the CMC restriction then i'd consider it. Gideon currently is the Allies best hope to slot into the currently brewed decks.

I am so sure about saying its a bad card for modern I'll even make a deal with you. 2 weeks after the release of the set online, if Scythe Leopard top 8s a big paper even like SCG OR is in ten 3-1/4-0 decks online, I'll get a foil Scythe Leopard and pay to have it altered professionally into a really sad pumpkin face, and sign it. I'll even put up a video of me doing it, because It would be super funny.
If that doesnt happen however, then I wanna foil steppe lynx, altered with a happy pumpkin face signed.
There's very few things I'm sure of in my life, but aggro naya colored little dudes is my corner of the internet. I know this wont see an ounce of play.
If it's buff did not fade eot I would agree it will see play. But in a deck that's so low to the ground, you can't buff it turn after turn and hit with it. It's junk in Zoo.

Right. I bemoaned to my fiance when seeing the card for like hours (why she dates me still, dunno.) about how if it was counters, it would be insane. If it was a 2/1 that got 1/1+ I could justify its use with Experiment one. If it was a 0/1 that got 2/2+ it would be better than lynx because it would work in gruul rush. If it was 1/1 got 1/1+ and hexproof, it would be worth testing. As is, its not at all.

Brutal Expulsion is either a midrange type card barking up the tree for the wrong colors of mana, or a really overcosted tempo card.
I think in terms of what it does, it barely justifies the 4cmc pricetag (and that's while taking Cryptic Command's mere existence into account). But it doesn't look to be much more than a sideboard tool if it ever sees play in the format.
