As to whether Chapin's list is control or not- I've got an informal test to see if a deck is control or not, which is "is the deck maindecking 4x Cryptic Command? If so, definitely control. If not, proceed to the next questions."
That's not necessarily true. I've played against Sultai Midrange decks in modern that maindecked 4 Cryptics. Granted, maindecking that many Cryptics in a Sultai midrange deck is probably a bad idea given the manabase (and it honestly should have been just 1-2).
Its true most of the time, but there are exceptions to the rule.
There is a spectrum. Sure Chapin is running threats such as tasigur but it is just a way to win which is required in eternal formats. Look at vintage and legacy every deck has creatures, a combo, or a lock (counterbalance/top).in slower formats you can go all the to the extreme with control with super top end wincons but chapin definitely can play a draw go game if it needs to and is working on a card advantage philosophy more so than bgx decks . Counterspells and removal with card advantage is a solid plan but you have to use eincons appropriate for the speed of the format.
Common sense is the most fairly distributed thing in the world, for each one thinks he is so well-endowed with it that even those who are hardest to satisfy in all other matters are not in the habit of desiring more of it than they already have. - René Descartes

Guys, you have no idea how happy I'm at the moment. Seeing a deck going Top 8 for the first time which you developed and made public is just an awesome feeling
I actually like the ADN match-up, since it is so interesting to play. Both decks are capable of winning with instant speed, both decks abuse some cards and can generate an awesome stack (srsly, when you have a stack with ADN, Goryos, Spoil naming ADN, resolves, cast ADN, response Goryos, Pact Goryo's, Pact the Pact; happened the last time when I played against ADN, and yeah, I won that game :D) you starting to realize that this game will be insane (when both players have normal draws). I hope, this game will be shown.
@masterplum, here in Europe, all of the foil Shoals were bought, the buyout is REAL

What I play or have:
Modern/Legacy
either funpolice (Delver, Deathcloud, UW Control) or the fun decks (especially those ft. Griselbrand)
Nice!
Funny that he also mentions Delver of Secrets since the Grixis Delver decks in my opinion always had this awkward identity crisis on what they actually want to do which has even lead to lists that cut Delver completely. Chapins decks is basically the deck heavily slanted to the Control direction.
Sounds like a Patrick Chapin deck. Only missing Cruel Ultimatum

I'm trying to figure out how his deck beats Burn. Dragon Claw and Dispel I guess?
How about that? Ad Nauseam top 8!
Aggro: Naya Burn RWG
Combo: Scapeshift RG
Control: Jeskai Control UWR
Legacy
Control: Miracles UW
Aggro: Burn R
Goryo's Vengeance should also be top 8 (he had 39 points going into the last round).

Storm Crow is strictly worse than Seacoast Drake.
Griselbrand Reanimator is in first going into the top 8.
