Hey guys, I was wondering what deck I should create. I like any sort of play style and am not picky, but being very budget on the new cards is what I prefer.
The two decks I already have is grixis delver and ad nauseam. Therefore, I have a playset of snapcaster mages, and the lands for the two decks (minus scalding tarn) The things I am missing in these decks are: AV for delver sideboard, and 3 (out of 4) pact of negation in ad naus. The manabase for ad nauseam is all fastlands, but two hallowed fountains. The delver deck has a typical manabase with fetches shocks and spirebluff canal.
So, my question is, what deck should I begin to build into, that will cost me the least amount of money, considering the cards I already possess? Thanks so much!
I am reposting this as I did not get a response last time. Can you guys help me out? Thanks!

Im looking for a deck with gifts ungiven in it as im planning to buy the card soon. I would prefer not to play the 4c version in it as im not a huge fan of green in mtg as a whole.
You got several options. There is UW Gifts Tron, Esper Gifts w or w/o Thopter Sword and/or Ancestral Vision, and Father's Day (an Esper Goryo Gifts deck). I'm not sure which is the strongest of them. Personally I would choose one that I can utilize in the meta that I am facing, but I know that Goryo's Vengeance on Jace, Vryn's Prodigy into flashback, targeting Griselbrand is pretty fun. Well, Gifts in general can be a fun card!

I'd reccomend Delver. AV isn't necessary, it's good but there are some pretty good lists that don't run it (the same can't be said about pact in ad nauseam).

So looking for some advice for my local meta. I've been playing Grixis Delver and control. I love control but I haven't been doing well on these lately. We allow proxies so the build isn't an issue. Bans and AER are live. (Modern)
The decks I'm thinking of possibly playing are Sultai control, BG rock/deathcloud/or aggro, Junk, Jund. (I am definitely up for other suggestions but I'm a huge fan of Pox, GB rock and Eva Green from when I played legacy)
The decks often played are as follows
Mardu control, Bant Eldrazi, 2x Grixis Delver, Ad Nausaum, Merfolk, Eldrazi and taxes, Living End, Afinity, Tez control, Burn, Azban Coco, Coco slivers.
Outside of best pick for a deck, any cards I should make sure I run?

So you have spirebluff, hallowed fountains, the grixis (I presume) delver manabase, and want to try something new? Go Jeskai with the manabase you have, pick up 4 copies of Saheeli and Felidar Guardian, and play twinless twin. Possible purchases u may need to make are path and helix if you dont have these staples already.

I need some strategy advice. My LGS top 8 last week had a lot of Jund/Tron/Bant Eldrazi. (There was a Dredge and Elves (me) as well, but I want to concentrate on Jund/Bant/Eldrazi. I have 3 choices that I thought may be good.
I've played the the first deck once at TNM and went 2-1, barely losing to Elves. It was quite a bit ago, but I tested the deck again recently. Although it didn't seem as good as it should in game 1 against Tron, the games with Damping Matrix really changed the texture of the games. I've never played RG Ponza, but I played against it twice recently. It theoretically seemed good against these decks. Grishoalbrand destroys Tron, is good against Eldrazi, and doesn't supposedly do well vs. Jund. But the last time I played Grishoalbrand, I had smashed Jund, finishing at 18-2 in matches. Blood Moon is a big beast! So, what should I play? Is there another deck that does better? Should I do Ponza without the Madcap Experiment?

Hi all, getting back into playing Magic again, have been playing on and off since Revised. Hoping that somebody who knows the Modern metagame has some thoughts for me about what I might like to play
Cards you already own - 4 Path to Exile, 4 Westvale Abbey, 4 Fatal Push, 4 Shambling Vent, 4 of anything like Lightning Bolt or Counterspell or any of the older staple commons or uncommons, an assortment of dual lands, fetch lands, and painlands acquired over the years (including 4 Concealed Courtyard) Colors you like to play - White, Black and Blue the most, in about that order, Red and Green less, though I'm happy playing them if it's an interesting deck Style you like to play (control, combo, aggro, midrange, tempo, ramp, rogue) - I like highly synergistic decks of all sorts; i.e. what I don't think is fun is playing "a bunch of good cards" in any of those archetypes when the cards don't really build to something more than the sum of their parts. Some of my favorite decks in the past have been the old Vintage Suicide Black and Parfait, which are pretty different but both seem very "of a piece" to me and fun to play. I also like decks where you have to adjust your playstyle or make different playing decisions depending on what you're up against or how the match is playing out. Level you want to play at, or aim to build up to (causal, fmn, ptq) - FNM-ish is fine, I doubt I will have motivation or time to go much beyond that, but it would be nice to be able to if I wanted to. Don't really care about money, will happily drop a few hundred if it's something I've proxied up and have a lot of fun playing.

I have a friend who's looking to get back into magic and has 250 to spend. He wants to get the most competitive deck he can and is fine contributing more money to improve it later, but competitiveness is the end all be all for him. Obviously since its not me I can't say what the entirety of his collection holds but I remember him having random khans fetches (quite a few but I doubt he had a full playset of any of them), and a few dark confidants.
He's shown a preference for aggro but I don't know if it's incidental or not.
Off the top of my head I was thinking burn or dredge might be good choices. Dredge itself is ~350 for the maindeck full power, and you could easily play a subpar mana base to get it down a bit, and would require the least amount of future investments. Burn on the other hand while I feel is right up his alley, would be more severely gimped, and require much further investment to become fully competitive (imagine he'd have to start mono red and go boros later).
Is there any other good choices I might be blanking on or was I on the right track?
Reposting because posts at the end of a previous page get no love.
Thanks, that's what I figured he should do but I just wanted to hear someone else validate or correct me before I set a friend off to make a major investment.
I really love to play ramp decks. I had a lot of fun playing Nyxwave back in the day when I first started playing Modern. Ive Experimented with Tron, but didn't really like it that much and got boring real quick. I Thought about buying in to Bloom Titan when that was a thing but then it got banned. Currently, I'm playing Titanshift and having a blast with it, but was thinking a about trying out something more brewtastic. Anyone have interesting ideas for a fringe ramp deck in Modern?

Shameless plug for Green's Sun's Zenith. It is technically a ramp deck that is looking to get to 5 lands as fast as possible to drop a Dictate of Karametra on the opponents end step then untap with double mana and 'combo' off. The Primer is a bit outdated but it's on my list to get around to it for an update.
Hi guys, I do not know if it is the right place to talk about this, but I am really intersting to sleeve up a dredge deck (even with the recent ban), but I am a little scared of a future ban, is it realistic or just me? Thanks !
With the deck just getting hit I think it will be safe for quite a while to play. It won't be dominating any large events like it was for a long time. If you want to be extremely safe wait until after the GP weekend, but I think you would be fine to just get it now.

Amulet Titan is actually putting up numbers again even without Bloom (online at least). MTG Goldfish has it up at 3.6% of the meta actually.
Usually the lists just replace Bloom with Sakura-Tribe Scout and play 4x Azusa, Lost but Seeking.
If you wanna play a ramp deck with more complicated decision trees than 'ramp hard->play a fatty' the deck seems promising.
Thanks, that's what I figured he should do but I just wanted to hear someone else validate or correct me before I set a friend off to make a major investment.
BW Eldrazi Taxes isn't the most expensive deck out there, but it sure is competitive.
So after selling off my Hatebears list previously, I kinda wanna get back into Modern. The thing is, recently I came into possession of several rather good black spells, like T-Seize, Fatal push, and a few other things. I like hatebears, but it's always been a pain with certain matchups. Is there an Abzan deck that's like Hatebears at doesn't require I buy Goyfs and Lilis?

go with good old jund, being a burn player myself, jund vs burn is close to 50/50 now, between Scavenging Ooze, Collective Brutality (the black command!) and Huntmaster of the Fells you are great, 4 Lightning Bolt and 3 Fatal Push you can take out the 1cc guys pretty great.
And while tron is somewhat a bad MU, you can always have Fulminator Mage in SB (or in main !).
