Goblin Guide is a powerful card and I would not consider Zoo to be complete without it. I would rather go with Delver if you have the experience with it.
I used to play Burn, U/W Tron and Mono Blue Control back when Extended was still a thing. The last years I spent some time testing various Legacy decks on Cockatrice (I have the most experience with Death and Taxes). I'm quite new to Modern and ready to spend a few hundred euros. I own some fetches and shocklands as well as some cards needed for U/W based control decks (not the expensive ones like Snapcaster Mage and Vendillion Clique though).
If you still have the pieces for burn, that would work. Very strong against infect, can generally race dredge well (you can even go for jund burn for Bump in the Night and Leyline of the Void), though cards like graf cage and relic can be jammed in anything and work against dredge. Merfolk is a little tougher if they can resolve master of waves and the fact that their vials can get around eidolon, but you definitely wouldn't be at a huge disadvantage.
Jeskai also seems great in that meta. It has a positive Infect matchup, some great cards against Merfolk and has access to the best colors to pack hate cards for Dredge.

What would you put in your SB for the Dredge matchup? I'm genuiunely asking because in my meta, just 2 Dredge decks out of 32-40 players at FNM have scared a couple of the Jeskai Nahiri players to other decks. When I myself ran Dredge, even with my terrible list (Vengevine), I stomped Jeskai Nahiri. I'm asking so I can pass some advice to other Jeskai players. One of them, essentially the worst of them, actually is running 4 Rest in Peace in his SB, which I don't think is the right call in a meta where you can run into other decks.
I personally feel that Jeskai Nahiri vs. Merfolk is 50/50, but some Merfolk players I know believe that Merfolk has the upper hand. I can't verify this one, as I've never played the matchup myself though.

Merfolk v. Jeskai depends on your build. If you run sweepers maindeck it can be pretty nasty for Merfolk.
I've personally been running some number of RiP (usually just 2) and it's been working fine for me. Anger is also surprisingly good since it permanently deals with all the recurring nonsense. I've yet to drop a match to Dredge.
Yeah I almost felt bad asking that since Merfolk also has a variety of builds - builds suited for Aggro, Control, or Combo, simply by switching some non-core cards or the numbers of some core cards. My hope was just that we randomly were talking about the same list.
With Dredge, you can often play around Anger of the Gods, but I will admit that a well timed one when you go all-in or can't afford not to is pretty devastating. I realize that Prized Amalgam's trigger is a must, but Bloodghast's trigger is a may.

Colors you like to play: Anything goes .
Style you like to play: Anything not super linear; I'm looking for a secondary deck that is interactive, and no weaker than "tier 2." Would like some kind of control, but I don't mind aggro as long as it has a decent amount of interaction.

Burn
Definitely this. Burn races Tron easily and has a million removal spells for Infect's creatures.
Hi all!
I'm looking for some advice on what deck I should buy into for modern play. I don't really mind playing a deck that is below tier 2 even as long as I enjoy playing the deck.
My favorite color in magic is red and my favorite style of play is definitely Aggro with my favorite deck I've ever played being Heroic during Theros standard.
I don't own many cards for modern play as I'm mostly a standard player but I'm looking to move on to modern for the most part. I don't have much money to spend on a deck right now so a budget option would be AWESOME.
I really like the feel of pump spells in Magic and I greatly prefer using them over typical burn spells.
I generally prefer winning with one creature but I realize that may not be a valid option with all of the removal in the format. One thing I am curious of is I've noticed some players trying to make Heroic decks "work" in modern and I want to ask if that is a valid option or if I should just move on and try playing infect, burn, or even bogles.
Thanks for any advice towards what deck you think would fit me best in Modern!
Infect and Suicide Zoo are the strongest pump spell aggro decks. Suicide Zoo is probably out of your price range with 12 fetches and a 20 dollar uncommon. You could get started with a cheap mono-green Infect list using Cathedral of War instead of Noble Hierarch.
There is a Grixis version of Suicide Zoo that uses Kiln Fiend and delve creatures instead of cats as its attackers. That build is more all-in and hasn't seen as much play as the 4-color version.
The other deck you might want to look into is the Nivmagus Elemental deck. It's basically the precursor to Suicide Zoo, but clumsier. For example you can't play Mishra's Bauble because it has no synergy with Nivmagus Elemental, and you can't play Become Immense because Elemental exiles spells, so you won't have any cards to delve for it.
I've tried Heroic; there's a few unfortunate reasons why it can't do well in Modern. Other than removal keeping it back, the other aggro creatures in the format require less setup. A Wild Nacatl or Death's Shadow becomes huge just from cracking fetchlands, compared to something like Satyr Hoplite which requires you to play 2 spells targeting it just to make it as big as Nacatl.
If money is your number one concern, I would advise you to just play mono-green Infect.
Hi guys, i'll be playing some PPTQS soon and i wanna see what you guys think may be the best choice, meta doesn't really matter cuz PPTQS in my city are usually between 60 and 90 people so there are always people playing every deck. My options are:
Merfolk,(i don't think it's that good atm but i've top4'd the last 2 big tournaments i've played past weeks so it's obviously a good deck). UWR Nahiri, UR Storm, Suicide Zoo, Grixis Delver/Control and UB Faeries. I'd love to know what you guys think! Remember that even though Suicide Zoo is considered one of the best decks at the moment everyone expects it to be highly played.
THE hot deck ATM IMHO is dredge, so expect a lot of graveyard hate.
Storm, Grixis and faeries seems meh. If you want to play a non creature based combo ADN is the best deck, so storm is a worst ADN deck choice. Ux control is a worst nahiri jeskai.
that narrow down the options to: UWR control, merfolk, suicide zoo. I would play whatever deck you feel you master. Any of the 3 is a good choice. If you master none, then go with merfolk. If you master all 3 i would play jeskai , but that personal opinion.
Hey and thanks in advance for the help. I'm a player who almost exclusively plays modern now and have 4 decks built: Bogles, Bushwacker Zoo(sans goblin guides), and Collected Elves. I have the majority of the fetches and shocks for those decks. I have a few modern staples here and there.
I'm looking for a deck that's less crazy fast and cutthroat as the decks I own. Maybe something more midrange and fun or even interactive. Im not against going out to buy some new land bases, but I'd like to incorporate what I have already as much as possible. I've also had an itch to play black lately. I'd like this deck to be able to do well at FNM and perhaps PTQ.
With that information I hope you guys have good ideas for me. Maybe an Abzan company or midrange deck. Or maybe even Loam Pox. Who knows. Thanks again
Ok so i want to enter the modern format and ive only been playing the game since the shadows over innistrad pre release so i dont really have modern cards besides ugin. I want to build a midrange deck that won't break the bank. So nothing more than $500. Any sugestions?

EDIT:i want something that can win at a fnm
I recently built Soul Sisters for my girlfriend to go vs my Bant Eldrazi and for her to play at FNM and the deck is fun and gets out of control very fast. There are some hands where you will just auto win if they do not have removal up and your Ajani's Primemate can get very large and can easily be a threat and battle a goyf. The deck is cheap, and you can easily skip the Flagstones of Trokair. The only downfall is that it doesnt really upgrade into anything else in modern, at least you have paths I guess.
The next choice is Eldrazi & Taxes, it is more expensive (about $200 more if you skip the FoT from Soul Sisters) but you will be getting Aether Vials, lands, paths, eldrazi and thalias. I strongly believe Soul Sisters is stronger in an FNM setting though.
Hey guys I've been playing Abzan Company for about 4 months now and I want to build a new modern deck. Company performed very well but then it got hated out too easily and i got a little tired of it. So I would like a deck that is very resilient and can continue to put up results. And doesn't get hated out after a while.
Cards you already own: 4 Nobles,3 path, 1 godless shrine, 2 overgrown tomb, 2 temple garden, 4 windswept heath, 3 wooded foothills, 2 flooded strand, 1 clique 2 thoughtseize, 3 mires, 4 bolts. and many other good cards and playables.
Colors you like to play. Any color really. I just don't like red agressive decks. I like control colors, Black,Blue, white, green, red in that order
But I don't mind as long as I like the deck
Style you like to play (control, combo, aggro, midrange, tempo, ramp, rogue) Midrange,Control,Tempo, Combo in that order
Level you want to play at, or aim to build up to (causal, fmn, ptq)Fnm,gpt, pptq maybe a local scg/gp event someday.
Budget: I have 800 dollars cash and about 500-900 dollar trade power. But my lgs is fairly small so I have to travel a little in order to trade for certain cards that people at my lgs don't own.
Meta: Grixis Delver, Gr tron, soul sisters, elves, ad nausem, living end, 5 color bring to light, 3 burn decks. And Eldrazi and taxes then some random decks that never make top 4

You may want to look into Wilted Abzan. No Goyfs or Liliana needed. BW Tokens is great if you're prioritizing fun, but it needs to be piloted well in order to get good results.
Speaking of Wilted Abzan, I'm a little stuck on what I should play next. My main considerations are Death and Taxes and Wilted Abzan. Wilted seems more like my playstyle but I own the majority of D&T's manabase because I play BW Tokens. My discard and removal, along with my fetches, do go into Wilted though. What's better for an FNM scene that has a very competitive metagame?

I never have really liked any form of Death and Taxes. GW, Mono White, BW, they all have some serious flaws in my opinion. My background is that I've played a lot of Tier 2 and lower decks. I have almost never lost to Death and Taxes before. I would estimate my win rate with any deck I've played before to be higher than 90% vs. all variants. One of the flaws I see is that the deck is trying to play some sort of hate vs. certain decks, but you have to draw the correct hate against the correct deck. Soft hate is usually nothing more than a speedbump for decks that are just too quick. If you slow a deck down by a turn or 2, can your Death and Taxes deck finish them in time? Some Bogles players are afraid of Thalia, Guardian of Thraben, but I just find it to be a speedbump. It is certainly not enough in that matchup, despite being one of the strongest cards they have against Bogles.
The other problem I see is that some of the hate also somewhat affects D and T as well. An opponent with Path to Exile can often wait for the opportune time to use it on a creature while Leonin Arbiter is out. Now that Cat is much more likely to hurt an opponent than you, but the fact that it sometimes hurts you can definitely be a negative. Maybe I just haven't seen too many good Death and Taxes players, but I've seen a guy known in Southern California for BW, a guy who was known at my LGS for GW, and a good grinder running Mono White, among others, so I doubt that's it. It's probably the fact that I don't run "lands" type decks often, but I did in fact run RUG Scapeshift and had 0 problems with the deck. I don't know what to say. I hate being so results oriented, but it's just what I've seen.

while i somewhat agree on FoodChainGoblins analysis (the part of "draw correct or incorrect half of deck") i disagree on his recommendation, Death and taxes have proven to be a deck for a while ago, born as a hate of birthing pod and fetchs/ramp, survive a lot of metas and evolves (GW, BW, Eldrazi and taxes, Moon taxes, etc) and is a deck that moves between tier 2/3, but is always a solid choice (like merfolk for example).
Wilted Abzan was born on a specific meta (dont remember exactly what was the meta), but have been losing strengh and while in some meta shines in another is pretty meh.
Maybe Wilted Abzan is your playstyle, but D&T is a best deck IMHO.

I feel like Jeskai Nahiri has a really good suicide zoo matchup.
I've been playing a Jeskai Flash variant using spell quellers and restoration angels instead of nahiri with great effect.
Hey guys, I kinda dropped out of modern when pod was banned (i was in love with kiki pod, rip).
Currently I still have all my old kiki pod pieces (chords, restoration angels, all of the singleton toolkit pieces). I also have all the pieces to build infect (any version). I also have all the pieces to build jund (goyf, LoTV, etc). I also have some solid blue staples like 4x snapcaster, ancestral visions, clique, glen elandra, remands etc.
What is well positioned right now that I can piece together with this stuff? If i'm missing a few pieces of any deck I don't mind investing.

Thanks so mich to any who take the time to read this and help me brainstorm :]
