Haha pod like brainstorm? The only thing they have in common is that they are overpowered cards that wizards keeps from banning because they like them.
Well, more because pod hasn’t reached too high dominance numbers til now and brainstorm because there are too many blue lovers in legacy.
If you banned Pod and nothing else tomorrow, I'd just replace my Pods with some more siege rhinos and resto angels and not feel particularly worse for wear.
Fallacy.
Take pod away from pod decks and all you have is a junk deck with birds and finks instead of goyfs and lilianas. Enjoy your losses.
Funny. We have seen Pod players side out Pods and still win games in events, yet you think removing Pod weakens the deck. You do understand the Junk deck that doesnt run Pods is on the rise also. I think its the 3rd deck in the format as of late.
I am by no means saying Pod should or will be banned.
The point is that the Pod toolbox style would die and be completely replaced by BGx.
I haven't followed the GP but I've heard that Ben Stark said some offensive things and him and Brian David Marshall apologized in camera. What was that exactly about?

Replaced how?
Because all the pod players would play Junk midrange or because BGx would fill the meta free spot?
I disagree with both the hypothesis...

I successfully cast 7 pods in 35 games. Activated pod about 12 times total. Deck still ran fine otherwise, even with "useless" 1-ofs. Reclamation Sage was the only one that tended to be a "dead" card in matchups. If I had faced grindier decks that would have sucked a lot, but Pod itself is one of the few prevalent grindy decks present, in which case a Pod ban would affect both equally. I'm not saying banning Pod would have no effect on the combo-less pod, afterall, if that was the case, I'd already not be playing pod. It'd be a weaker deck without pod. I just wouldn't feel particularly worse for wear in the endless series of burn and delver match-ups without it.
Meh Pod was really just over represented at the GP. I went 12-1-2 and faced 6 azban pod, the only two I lost to was day 1 (he had the nut) and day 2 in the quarter finals due to being on empty and playing like an idiot. It's a good deck but there is an over abundace of awnsers to it. I went into top 8 feeling pretty good about the match up (especially since day two 4 of my matches was pod the 5th was azban midrange)

Pod has always seen a decent amount of play in Modern.....what really have set a fire under the current Pod resurgence is Siege Rhino, to the point which most players a stripping the combo out of Pod for more Rhino's....
All of this certainly puts Pod under the 'spotlight' for the upcoming B/R, and in my eye's it would be highly unfortunate if Pod were to get a Ban, rather than the real issue being Rhino imo.

Btw good job man! I feel less bad with my TWO losses against Fish at the GP Milan now because of your result
I'll read your write up, but i have to ask you right now: why Minamo? (dunno if it's a stupid question as i dont have practice with folks).

Minamo and Oboro are included in fish decks because they're untapped painless blue sources that can play through a choke. Clearly that didn't work quite so well (G3 he lost to a choke because all he drew were islands) but it's pretty risk-less and the upside can be big. Though now there are a lot of folk people considering playing both of the legendary lands alongside 4 copies of wanderwine hub since only 2 blue non-islands seems like not enough to realistically dodge choke.

Yea Choke is pretty much the nut. I will probably jam some amount of wandervine into the future for sure but I don't know what the sweet spot would be between trading choke protection for bloodmoon protection. He only played one in his sideboard, thats the how dem variances roll sometimes

1 in the T8
2 in the T16
7 in the T32
We know that there were 31 Pod decks in the day 2 metagame, accounting for 23% of the GP. With 10 Pods in the Top 32, that's a higher than expected performance rate (31% of the top 32 compared to 23% of the day 2 meta). Of course, it could be well within the acceptable range, statistically speaking. But statistics aside, that's definitely a lot o' Pod.
where is Green white hatebear (however you spell the name of that lock down deck) to stop all of these birthing pod decks?
A couple anti burn can anti graveyard cards and its got a 50/50 for fighting delver as well.
I played the hatebear deck at the GP, never once played a single pod deck. I got knocked out day 1 by rogue decks that I couldn't deal with since I planned to play against delver/pod. Even then though, now that pod is playing siege rhino it's a lot harder for us to deal with them. Our only out to rhino is Baneslayer Angel.
only out is baneslayer angel? no offense but I feel like thats doing something wrong. siege rhino is no different than a tarmogoyf body except that you get hit with a lightning helix type effect in addition to the goyf body.
pm the current hatebear list i'm curious why this match up would be unfavorable just because of a siege rhino.

So much for the "hard to master" deck. When you got the power + luck, who cares about skill and test and mastering.

Dumping Rhino's on the field from turn three onwards imposes hardly any difficulty. Rhino pod is now officially on par with RG Tron in terms of straightforwardness.

You've got to be joking if you think it doesn't take skill to win a GP. I would also like to see a source for this statement.
I assume that Nyz is (misleadingly) paraphrasing this quote from the T8 Profiles Page:
Wizards: What deck did you play and why? Erik Peters: Rhino Pod. I borrowed it Friday night and watched two hours of LSV’s videos.
I think it's far to assume that Erik didn't own the deck, but I have no idea how much experience he had with it. Maybe it was just 2 hours. Maybe it was 2 hours that night, on top of any experience he had with it before. The quote isn't quite as clear as Nyz would have us believe.
Peters is a local, he's played Pod plenty before, he just borrows the cards. That said, with the right match-ups, the decision tree isn't exactly staggering. And it's gotten significantly less branchy in the post KTK metagame. More of a tree trunk with a few leafless branches shaking in the wind. "Is Rhino in my hand? Can I get to Rhino via Pod?"
He spent most of the last year playing AggroLoam. A resolved Seismic Assault is mildly amusing against Delver.
