First off: i know its not a Gamechanger, but i find it really neat ^^
Let me tell you how i utilize him. im running 4x in a Boros-Deck & play Path to Exile & Boros Garrison This way i almost always get an extra-land ^^
you think he could make it in white Decks with supporting cards like path & the mentioned land ?
Running him in mono-W knights. It's a pretty good effect, especially in a midrangeish deck. The effect only does happen around half the time, but it's pretty neat when it does, and since he's sort of a sleeper card, nobody expects him after PtE.
My favorite trick involves Vialing him in when my opponent attacks after playing a land. Bonus point if you're tapped out, but use that extra mana to cast a combat trick or a PtE.
Speaking of Aether Vial, I wonder if it's possible to cast one, then with the trigger on the stack vialing in another one, fetching two lands? Or does the ability check for lands after it resolves?
They left out the part where Yawgmoth is resurrected, but has been cleansed as Yawgmoth the Redeemed, and now must awaken Chromium so that Karn can fuse with him and create what can only be known as : the ultimate taco.

You'd only get one land. It checks when it resolves, and sees the land you got with the first trigger.

Could be good if played in a WW style deck alongside Steppe Lynx, but the problem comes that you either have to be on turn 2 on the draw or turn 3 on the play and have missed a land drop to get his effect. Yes you could get around it with Path to Exile but I think the land is more of a stretch. Overall you have to ask if you want a hard to cast creature with a slightly above average body and a situational (or when your playing from behind) effect on it. Right now outside of the Knights deck I don't think there is a place for it anywhere else in Modern, but perhaps there could be some white landfall deck with Flagstones of Trokair, Ghost Quarter, and Faith's Reward for maximum jank.
Why does noone reply to my idea of playing lands like Selesnya Sanctuary to get ehind on the amount of lans gh cm cm
Because I've yet to see a competitive Modern deck (that wasn't Bloom Titan) run karoos? They're just such a tempo fail, especially if you're trying to play a creature that costs WW to cast anywhere near on time. I supposed you have vials to mitigate that somewhat?
Like someone said, there might be some kind of crazy GW landfall deck in there somewhere, I just don't see it being competitive. I'll stick to my Hatebears or Zoo for my Selesnya beats.
compare it to another 2/2 for 2 in white leonin arbiter, death and taxes keeps both players mana bases small because they can operate off low mana at near full strength. such is the nature of weenie decks w/ aether vial. aka, the decks that youd put knight of the white orchid in. the problem is that knight of the white orchid functions in the exact opposite way. it accelerates your mana instead of inhibiting your opponents mana.
weenie decks stand to gain more by inhibiting their opponents mana than by accelerating their own, and if youre doing the former properly, it becomes harder for knight of the white orchid to do the latter
T1 Temple Garden, Noble Hierarch/Birds of Paradise/Avacyn's Pilgrim
T2 Knight of the White Orchid, free Plains, play Razorverge Thicket, Voice of Resurgence
Seems decent but it still means you're going second. Dropping two bears is good but you're still behind here.
I'm not sure about this but aren't you able to vial it in as an answer to cracking you own fetch? Seems like a neat play, too.
This works. You vial in Knight of the White Orchid while the fetchland ability is on the stack. The Knight enters the battlefield first and sees that you have fewer lands than your opponent, allowing you to get a Plains. Then, your fetchland ability resolves, and you can get another land.

That's what I thought. Thanks for clarifying.
